West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

alright, I know I am a bit early with the topic but hey, there’s no harm looking ahead. Can someone tell me what kind of pitches can we expect in the tour. Are they gonna be sub continent like or australian. There are other questions that needs to be answered too.

will shoaib make a return
will afridi get a chance at test. and if he does, where do you guys think he bats.
The health problems inzi- I was just watching LOC with miandad and they said he is out 3 weeks until further notice. But I don’t think it matters since he will miss the first test anyway.

Mods, can you guys please make this sticky. We can discuss all pre-tour topics here.

Re: West Indies tour

why would he miss th first test anyway…koi ban lag gaya ha

Re: West Indies tour

yep… he’s banned for the first test match cuz of his “behavior” in the last test match.

Re: West Indies tour

I still contend that afridi has no place opening in test. Let him come out at 7-8. In test, preserving wickets is crucial and it puts immense pressure on the team if they lose an early wicket. Yeah sure, he can fire at any time but he can also throw away his wicket on the very first ball.

Re: West Indies tour

When does the WI tour start? Please post the schedule. :-)

Re: West Indies tour

So, according to this schedule, there are only two tests?

And I like the topic. I am not too much up-to-date on cricket these days, so these forums will help me get back on track.

Re: West Indies tour

Yes, Shoaib Akhtar will be back (he's playing domestic to prove his fitness), and yes, Afridi will be in Tests (how could anyone leave him out now?). Unfortunately, if Inzi misses a Test due to injury, he's not considered to have served his one-match ban. A player has to be fit and available for selection to fulfill the ban requirements. What Inzi should do is tell everyone he's fully fit and then sit out the first Test against WI because of the ban, and in the meantime, also get treated for the injury. killing two birds with one stone.

Re: West Indies tour

For the record, West Indian umpires are pretty bad. In the 1988 and 2001 tours, they cheated us out of Test and series wins.

NO.

West Indies pitches are different than Australian or Sub-continent for that matter. You will be surprised how a batsman gets bowled on a down low pitch ball. All the stadiums are located near the Sea side, therefore, humidity will be a key factor, too.

Plus, there’s no quick outfield or maybe there are some.

Why need him when Pakistan plays better without him? :stuck_out_tongue:

On a serious thought, he’ll be a great boast to the team as long as he stay focus more on the field than out of field…i.e. no hulas for Jemicans Kuris. :stuck_out_tongue:

He should get one. Salman and Afridi have clicked, meaning, door has been shut on Taufeeq, Farhat and Yasir for now.

Where should Afridi bat? He should open the inning more often, otherwise, down 5 is a good spot for him.

Re: West Indies tour

Starting XI for west indies tests -

Salman Butt
Yasir Hameed
Younis Khan
Yousaf Youhana
Inzamam ul Haq
Shahid Afridi
Abdur Razaaq
Kamran Akmal
Mohd Sami / Rana
Shoaib Akhtar
Danish Kaneria

Starting XI for ODI's

Salman Butt
Shahid Afridi
Shoaib Malik
Yousaf Youhana
Inzamam ul Haq
Younis Khan
Abdur Razaaq
Kamran Akmal
]Naveed Rana
Mohd Sami
Shoaib Akhtar

this is in my opinion, note that I have chosen an extra pace bowler in the one day side, with shoaib and afridi the spin bowlers. What u guys think?

Re: West Indies tour

I disagree with your Test team you have left out Asim Kamal backbone(sort of) and included Afridi / Yasi, nice team but not that balanced. Shabbir is not there and if he is fit he is an automatic choice ahead of Sami.

and since Inzi is banned for the 1st test I think he will be replaced by Shoaib Malik + he can bowl as well.

P.S: you may see some new faces.

Re: West Indies tour

The umpiring factor is very crucial.

Afridi should be the part of test team as well while Akhter will have to compete his place in the side as he is not the auto matic selection any more.

Almost entire squad will be same with very few changes.

Good Luck Pakistan

West Indies Tour-General Talk-Who in Form and Who is not.

ChandurPaul is the captain, Whats the story behind it ? Was Lara Force to give up ?
Who is the bowler in form ? I know in batting, Hinds and Chandurpaul are in awsome form along with Lara who just found is form ( Well he is in forum all year long). Would it be a better thing to bring along Shoaib Actor to bowl to lara or not worth spoiling our well-inform boyz ?

Please share your thoughts, as I personally would like to about W.Indies line up well ahead so I would know when to cheer up when a wicket of an important person falls. Thank you.

Re: West Indies Tour-General Talk-Who in Form and Who is not.

Well I must say that we lacked a pure fast bowler in test matches. Though we won the last won. but that awas purely coz of a brrilliant team effort. Everything went in Pakistan's favour in the last test match..

for WI series, we definitely need three good pacers. RANA(the great), Sami and Actor can do the job. If Shabbir gets fit then it could be a blessing as well. but he hasnt played cricket for some time. so he needs to play some side cricket to get into some rhythum. We need to change the team some what for WI tour. Pitches in WI wont be Mudland like Indian pitches. They will be smooth and somewhat bouncy, apart from the last pitch on which WI and SA played last week.

Re: West Indies Tour-General Talk-Who in Form and Who is not.

chanderpaul hinds lara sarwan and gayle are all players we should be happy to get out and in the bowling department they aren't too good... kind of like the indian bowling atack but a little bit worse

If fit Shoaib and Shabir both should join the team it will be a nice battle between the bowlers in the team and all would perform well Inshallah to cement their place in the team

and batting wise we are good but should bring yaasir back for the tour and play younis at number 3 in every game because that is his specialist position as Imran Khan keeps saying and it's best for the team

Re: West Indies Tour-General Talk-Who in Form and Who is not.

Yasir should be back, but incase if he is out of form then we must promote Younis Khan or play Shoaib Malik as test opener. Believe me Malik can bat at any number in any form of cricket. The guy has amazing talent, flexiblity and adaptblity. If Younis comes at one down after Malik and Salman, thats an awesome lineup. Yoyo and Inzi to follow and there comes Asim to safeguard the innings and anchor it with the tail. Afridi, Akmal and Rana are good enough players in the tail to make a good 70+ partnership with Asim. So the batting problem seems to be resolved from this angle.

Re: West Indies Tour-General Talk-Who in Form and Who is not.

yea malik can play at any place from 1 to 8 and you forgot razzaq in the lower order :D

Re: West Indies tour

I think the last one day matches played by pakistan and india were fixed matches becaz of dosteee
thanks alot
