By the way I don’t stand behind everything the west does. In fact this discussion is NOT ABT west it is abt VIOLENT response to religious insult. Which you refuse to condemn.
Those laws are in place because they prevent violence … Defamation ruins reputations, yes, exactly … So where goes freedom of speech? Not so free is it? … But insulting ones religion is far worse for some people. It is a huge deal for me that my religion is insulted through inaccuracies … But I can only condemn myself for violence … I will use other means to settle the score, i.e. Through discussion and debate to show Islam is higher than what others falsely attribute to it.
A small human being - created by Allah swt himself - is not strong enough to defeat a religion created by Allah himself. If you cannot get behind that then you have no business defending Islam anywhere at any point. Quality over quantity…you know?

Really? Then why are people responding to me? Its because they really feel as if their religion is under attack and a few hillbillies will put an end to Islam.
It brings me no pleasure when I say this but to most people I meet…religion is just a topic…something they use to argue about like we are here…an excuse to get passionate about SOMETHING…a reason to create differences…a ritual they don’t even understand well…a book they read like puppets…a Friday meeting they attend because their fathers did and their fathers did so it must go on…and that’s it. They have no idea WHAT TO DO with it. How it works and what it means to actually live that life. Meaning, Islam is not just about reading namaz, having a beard, wearing your shalwar two inches above your ankles and condemning people who eat tiramisu because it has rum in it. That’s not it and those are not even important enough things to warrant a discussion but they do…and lots of it!
I really do hope and pray that one day it hits Muslims that their lives are not about DEFENDING Islam…their lives should be about LIVING the life that was left as an example by our Prophet saw. And no, saying he was soo perfect and we can’t possibly be like him is not a good enough excuse to act like an idiot. He showed you how to live…so you could live that way…not so you could put His life’s teachings on a shelf to read about now and then.

I’ve met Pakistanis who refuse to speak Urdu because they’re from “high society” and people only espeak horrible Angrezi in “high society”. Do I feel good when I meet people like that? Um, you betcha I do! I think to myself “hey!!! they wanna be just like me yet make fun of me!!!” Then, I laugh, switch to Urdu, watch their faces and prepare myself for the inevitable “aap Amreeka kab ayeen?” To which I say “mein yahan ayee nahin thi”… Its quite fun and it gives me a laugh every single time. I should record this stuff.

I condemn the causes of violent response … Because those causes are done through conscious deliberation to create a reaction … I can say that violent response is not civilised and humans should try to better themselves … But since it is a reaction and often an irrational one … To condemn it is neither here nor there for me … It will happen as one of the forms of expression when people are deeply insulted. I will stop violent reaction with my hands and try to speak sense to people who are deeply affected and calm them down, but condemnation is done for those acts that instigate not react … It just doesn’t make sense because it will be ineffective.
There is no reason to respond to a personal attack, because as you said earlier insults should be ignored. So I am trying to live that and not just talk about it.
Keeping composure and not getting into personal attacks is exactly what I feel I should do … I don’t think I’m important enough to defend myself from your attacks … May be you are right about me, or do you wish me to foam from the mouth and respond likewise? … So may be Southie can condemn my aggressive reaction? I don’t want to give him that satisfaction.
I should however make a very clear statement though … You are not right that Muslims should not defend Islam … Defending Islam is what was done on Badr, Uhad, etc and defending Islam is done through preservation of Hadith and defending Islam is done through Sunnah and defending Islam is done through Qur’an memorisation. Defending Islam is not to welcome criticism of it or be proud of not being insulted when insulters insult it … What sort of Muslims are we if we don’t get insulted when they insult Islam? We should be insulted … Deeply … But we should try to react in wise ways. And for the sake of the whole ummah we should not welcome people to insult our faith system. That attitude was never part of the Sunnah.
Going by that logic one shouldn’t condemn those who do evil. For those who do evil won’t stop doing evil just because they are condemned for doing evil.
So those who use words to insult a religion are the evildoers who should be condemned. But those who blow up buildings and people in retaliation should not be condemned because they were instigated.
