Umar25x: what types of weight training exercises are good to do before cardio?
Any exercise will be good before doing cardio mainly depending of equipment. If you are working out in a gym then you can split the exercises like chest/tri/abs, back/bi, shoulder/legs/abs followed by cardio.
If you working out in home and you have little or no weight training equipment then crunches, lunges, squats and pushups, jump rope, burpees. In these my fav are squats and burpees, really elevate your heart rate.
Re: Weight Loss Success Stories
I’ve been trying , note TRYING, to eat healthy the last 3 days, ie, mostly veggies and fruit, very little carbs…so far so good…did get a craving for choc though
a spoonful of nutella hit the spot ![]()
for exercise, I do 30-35 minutes cardio.
been walking 20-30 minutes on the days i dont go to the gym.
When I was in hi school I weighed 190 lbs n now I just fluctuate b/w 125-130 lbs :D Reason: Life ;)
Wow! thats huge. Good job.
I think it is more important to make a lifestyle change than to just go on a diet, lose the weight and go back to your pre-diet routine.
And to everybody who is on a diet at the moment: Make sure physical activity is part of your weight loss regime. Cutting calories alone is not healthy or productive.
I am one of those people whose weight fluctuates. I always lose weight during the fall and gain it all back in the summer. Don't know how or why. But I have noticed that if you start with a healthy breakfast, you usually end up making healthy choices throughout the day.
Also, portion control is very important. Most of the time if you are just trying to lose the extra 5 pounds, all you have to do is, eat what you usually eat, just eat a lil less of it.
But nothing will help you lose weight like exercise. If you can run, run everyday. If you're not a runner like me, power walk. Just strolling down the lane for an hour is not going to get you anywhere. Do an activity that increases your heart rate and makes you sweat.

Very well said, i completely agree with you. And people need to understand that exercise part as well. People wanna do none at all and basically wanna lose weight. Well!! its okay if you are a coal mine worker otherwise you need to do some sort of exercise which elevates your heart as said above by passionate.
Re: Weight Loss Success Stories
People don't undrestand that everyone can't excersice. There are people with kneeproblems and bak issues etc as well.As for walking , I lost 26 lbs just by walking at amedium paceand watching what I ate.
Re: Weight Loss Success Stories
I have started walking for an hour every evening and the 20 minutes to and from work..
I have also started to base lunch and dinner around salad..
Last night it was salad and Oven baked fish..
I do make the salad a little naughty as in olive oil and olives.. and feta cheese but hello .. better than eating chips or waffles right
I found that the big secret (at least for me) to losing weight was small changes.
I didn't need to lose a whole lot, but those extra few pounds have driven me nuts over the years. I had resigned myself to always being a little bit chubby after trying this diet or that workout routine with no success. But since I hated giving up, I tried to give it one last go by trying the "baby steps" method of changing one small thing at a time. I was skeptical, but what did I have to lose, right? So one week, I started by walking a little further on my way to work. Then a few weeks after that, I started putting honey on my toast instead of butter. A few weeks later, I started using the stairs to work instead of the elevator. Then a few weeks later...well, you get the picture. And because I wasn't convinced that doing such small things would really work, I didn't even bother checking my weight. After about 3 months, I noticed that my clothes had gotten pretty loose. Still not convinced that doing something so simple could have produced results, I again skipped the weighing machine, figuring that my clothes had somehow become misshapen in the laundry. Another couple of months and small changes later, I found I'd gone down two sizes while shopping with a friend. I finally got on the scale and found that 10 lbs had disappeared. This totally gave me a new perspective. I kept up with cutting out unhealthy habits and work out much more regularly. I'm much healthier now and way happier with my body.
So the baby steps method works. Give it a try!
i think this is the best way.
i hear drinking warm water helps u n losing weight?? any experience of any one??
Re: Weight Loss Success Stories
from July i am gonna start my serious mission with losing 30lbs...i have been trying to lose weight ever since i could remember...even when i was little like...12-13 something...! i have always been the "healthy" kid of the family....and just recently i discovered i have PCOS :( i am soooooo damn upset about it kuz i have two no three probs with it...one is awful facial hair that keeps coming back in 2-3 days...i am sick of waxing my poor face...second irregular periods...and third is that no matter even if i starve and do excercise...i can never manage to loose beyond 1-2 lbs...:(
i really have had enough...i want to loose 10% of my weight as my doctor suggusted....so that would be 7 kgs/around 14lbs...! i really do eat healthy....i do have unhealthy food but only once in a long while..i rarely eat pasta or rice....don't eat junk fried food...fine a samosa or 2 when my mum makes it...! i use brown sugar....drink honey water with lemon in the morning....drink water like crazy...2-3 litres everyday...! cook in olive oil with very little oil and do not eat after 6-7ish! and sleep like 11ish 12ish!
tried every stupid diet i could...until i realised a few months back that there is no such thing as a diet to loose weight...:(
i dun knw what to do...:( i do walk ALOT but been at home for the past few weeks as got exams in 2-3 days...!
i really want to loose 7 kilos in next 2 months...not sure if i would excersice in ramadhan though...so i want to loose 4-5 kilos until ramadhan and den i can continue back with at least 1 hour of walk everyday or the stepper that i have at home...(my dad used the latheral thigh trainer and lost 8 kgs in i dun knw how long...1-2 months at most as my dad can eat boiled veg...eww)....
...i really would appreciate if i can get a buddy to lose weight along with me...:) anyone..:(

Re: Weight Loss Success Stories
The key to weightloss is a proper diet i.e very less food :P And it sure works like anything. I just tried diet for 2weeks n i lost more weight than i do with gyming alone for 2months.

one of the biggest myth .. less food is actually gonna make you fat if you continue it for more than a month or so .. .. ..
to reduce your wieght .. u gotta understand the anatomy of your body .. .. to reduce weight u gota pace up your metabolism and you gotta reduce ur calorie intakes .. .. which does not mean eating less. every nutrition will recommend you to eath 3 or 4 times a day even if you have to reduce the weight .. ..
drink lots of water .. water increase your metabolism
drink green tea .. .. it also increase youre metabolims ..
i lost 10 KG in a month ..

Re: Weight Loss Success Stories
hey i am in too. i want to loose few pounds(let say atleast 10 pounds) that r mainly sitting of my belly.so i along with my hubby started a diet 3 days ago
breakfast:
one white read slice with 1 fried egg and one cup tea
lunch:
today i had lentil stuffed capcium
tea
we will be having no roti or rice at lunch and also less portion size
dinner:
one roti with regular curry/salan
tea
but problem is we eat dinner around 10 bcz hubby comes home by 9:30
so let see what happens just by going with this diet and no excercise at all.
