Wedding shopping list

Re: Wedding shopping list

I wouldnt care about the above^ that would be up to the parents. I told my mom when my time comes i dont want any gold sets...maybe just one diamond set. I also told her just to get me a few suits because things go out of style quickly and I'm so not into wearing desi suits unless it's a special occassion. I would much rather have a downpayment to a house of something more practical.

the things on my list would be.....

-names of hotels that I would like to have my wedding
-honeymoon ideas
-list of friends to invite
-things that i can buy for my hubby as a wedding gift

I cant think of anything else right now. Other then the above I think i would leave the rest up to the families.

Re: Wedding shopping list

hormonal changes....and probably eating out a lot. I hear that couples go out to eat often in the beginning.

Re: Wedding shopping list

Oooh i totally forgot about kitchen and house stuff.. :clown: I figure, if i’m gonna live in his mom’s house, kya faida :bummer:

Re: Wedding shopping list

Im getting married on a beach.
There wont be any such stupidity.

With a seafood banquet for the guests which will be under 10 in number.

Not wasting my money on anyone

Re: Wedding shopping list

sounds like a great plan!

Re: Wedding shopping list

I am not bringing any jahez items with me. We have told his parents and they agreed!
So I am only thinking of having some nice outfits to wear when we are going for dawats and stuff and also some casual shalwar kameez for everyday use.

I think I will limit it to 10 formal and maybe 15 casual suits. God knows when I m going to Pakistan again and its nice to have a large wardrobe for at least 2-3 yrs. I dont like the variety of desi stuff here.

With those suits I m gonna buy matching bangles and chappals or khusse.

I dont wear much makeup and have at least 4 perfumes which I will bring along. So no more makeup or perfume shopping.

Once I am done with my shopping from Pakistan, I will almost be done with the whole shopping thing.

Ammi is thinking of buying gold earrings to him mum and sis and I am so much against that rasam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What should we get him other than paying for his outfit for the wedding? does the dulha get a large amount of kapre or other stuff???

Re: Wedding shopping list

Femme, just to clarify, Chakwal isn’t a gaon, and if you meant “some other place” then I dunno!

Re: Wedding shopping list

GTG I am not saying chakwal is a village just that these people(cousins in-laws) have some village-like traditions and way of life. By the way I have been to what was very much a village in chakwal, that is if chakwal is at an hour or two drive from rawalpindi.

Amelie I totally forgot about the smaller sets :hayaa:

Re: Wedding shopping list

i have a few questions regarding wedding shopping.... is the girl who is getting married supposed to be the one deciding how much clothes and jewellery she wants to buy or is it her parents? i mean in case a girl wants more of it or less of it...is it her right or the parents? is the girl barred from spending her own money or if she is earning money she is "supposed" to spend money for her wedding goodies? or is it only the parents "duty" to spend.....
i am asking from a traditional, cultural and a "loag kya kahain gay" point of view.....just a general idea as to how much control and decision making the girl has over this (or does it vary from household to household?)

Re: Wedding shopping list

Re: Wedding shopping list

^the dulha doesn't get that many new clothes as the dulhan does... but yeah usually his in-laws would give him abt 3-5 shirts and pants, new shoes, a diamond ring, a watch, and money as his wedding gifts :)
