Re: Wedding rasams..
UGH! Forget the rasam crap, they say ure not sposed to shower when ur on ur period at all! but that's a whole other thread..
Re: Wedding rasams..
who is "they"?? islam?? oh my God i never knew that, im not much into the whole Islamic culture unfortunately as i'm half Pakistani, and my dad doesnt explain those kinda things to me lol
Re: Wedding rasams..
oh no no not not Islamic...im talkin abt desi culture...at least the women I know, say that u shudnt shower during ur period... Im pretty sure it not part of Islam at all, coz its very unhygenic and disgusting
Re: Wedding rasams..
yeah lol I can imagine! eek but what I have heard is that you should avoid using cold (even cool) water to shower doing that time, it causes medical problems or something of that nature...
Re: Wedding rasams..
^ that' coz hot water usually relieves the pain
Re: Wedding rasams..
these days girls in karachi are dressed up, with light makeup and beautiful joras and pholloon ka jewar
on their mehendi and mayun

Re: Wedding rasams..
sure its not islamic, but its not alian or against Islam either, we can not get away with mehndi or mayon, (i didnt have mayon at all only mahndi that included messing my hair with oil) but there was no restriction on shower though.
I dont think its tied to hindu culture only, its our culture regardless of faith. it varies from one place in sub continent to another.
if some one hate own roots too much then, just dont have mehndi( assuming cause that suits women apitite for another glamourous function, they will not abondon it)
there are traditions due to culture, and family background. some observe some dont. nothing is compulsary, those who dont apperciate it, just dont hate it.
Re: Wedding rasams..
maybe ill change my mind after this weekend.. but if it was up to me, i wudn't have a mehndi. i'll go all out on wedding day, but having mithai shoved in my mouth and oil rubbed in my hair isnt my idea of glamour ;)
Re: Wedding rasams..
^ so did ya take a shower yet? :p
Re: Wedding rasams..
^lol.i think u r gonna make sara really mad by asking this question!
how many days till wedding girl?
Re: Wedding rasams..
yes not for the victim i guess. but for everyone else its another day for yellow dresses and dance and music.
Re: Wedding rasams..
no idea i did none of these....they are old and just rasm nothing else. no one actually does this anymore good luck!
Re: Wedding rasams..
These are just rasams adapted from hindu culture. They aren't in any way shape or form Islamic.
Re: Wedding rasams..
That u dont want to do these, means u hate ur culture/roots…that’s such bull****.
