waxing heater

hey ppl…i need ur urgent help…

i was thinking to buy a waxing heater…like the one u mostly see in the salons!! and just refil it with waxing tubes afterwards…
do u recommend it or not and how useful is it?
share any personal experiences u had?
and also where to get one of these big machine waxing heater in uk???

Re: waxing heater

lol citrine, perfect timing. i was just gushing about my wax heater and how great i can now wax to my cousin, who just came back from being waxed and the stupid woman bruised her arms. i bought mine a year ago - a student starter kit. it was really good value and has been amazing. i now give myself a professional wax on a regular basis and i can't recommend it enough. i don't even need too wait to long as the hairs can be 4-5mm to be waxed with salon waxes. i will write up a full reply in a while about what i bought (i'm in the UK too) and my experiences with using it!

Re: waxing heater

I have had my arms bruised too :bummer: :frowning: Hate this scar on my wrist :vivo:

oh rite...where did u get urs from? i was luking in boots superdrugs and argos..but they dont sell any....and is it really hard to use ??

This is the kit i bought but they have loads of different kinds of wax heaters that they sell separately too. I really like the one that came with it so even if I was to buy it alone, I would buy the same one. The wax kit is really good value since it comes with the essentials and a few different kinds of wax. I would just go for that because I think it works out cheaper than to buy the main things separately (heater, spatulas, fabric strips, pot of wax, wax cleaner to keep equipment clean).

Ok, in the beginning it took a few attempts before I could wax without making any mess, like dripping wax on the bathroom floor. Also, in the beginning I was going through too may fabric strips. Now that I know what I’m doing, there is usually barely anything to clean up and I use like 8-10 fabric strips to do a full leg wax on both legs.
The Hive waxes are really good. I’ve settled on the Water Dispersible Warm Wax as I find it’s the easiest to get off your skin - jump in the shower, get wet, rub baby oil vigorously over the waxed areas - and it should come off.
Also, these pots can be put directly into the wax heater. I usually line the bottom of the heater with some toilet paper to keep it clean, stick the pot in, whack the dial up to maximum and go and do something else for about 30 mins. By that time it’s really hot and completely liquid - as I prefer my wax to be as thin as possible when I spread it on my skin. I can now do both a full leg and arm wax using about 1/5 to 1/4 of a pot.

So yea, it’s cheap and convenient and you get excellent results.

Re: waxing heater

oh kool..i will get one soon thn...but i wanna buy one where u can refill bottles ..i think its hard to use the pot one with all the spatula and everything

Re: waxing heater

yea, you can buy that kind on that site too. personally i don't like them as much, i don't think you can spread the wax as thinly and i also think it would become quite expensive with having to buy refills all the time. whatever you feel comfortable with though!

Re: waxing heater

well u can get those wax heaters from sally shops… this is their website http://www.sallybeauty.com/ they cost around £60

Re: waxing heater

thnx:D

Re: waxing heater

I've used the Gigi one and liked it.

Re: waxing heater

is it practical? all i wanna know that u can really use it at home!! dnt wanna throw my mny away

Citrine, some ppl I have seen use a rice cooker as well as a wax heater... if you can find the smallest one... that does the job too... something you might look into

Re: waxing heater

hmmm never heard abt it

Re: waxing heater

did u buy one ?...if so which one did u buy ?..is it any good?

Re: waxing heater

na i cnt find any decent one....will do soon

why can’t you find a decent one?

This is the same that is used in salons.

Re: waxing heater

i knw..but i cant trust online sites really..

Re: waxing heater

waxing heaters donot require the use of fabric strips :chai:

Re: waxing heater

umm I think you still need the clothes strips -- unless we're talking about something differnet.

BTW I bought one by Gigi -- now all my girls got one too --
you buy the heater and the wax first time $70 but it saves you almost double that in waxing from outside---

and then on you just buy the wax which is like $20

uhm, i think you’ll find that if you go to virtually any salon in the UK, they will use a wax heater, to heat up warm wax that comes in a tub, apply wax to your skin with** spatula**, smooth a fabric strip on top of this and pull it off.
they also use hot film wax, that does not require fabric strips, but still needs to be spread with a spatula, but this is usually for small areas such as on the face and bikini.

these waxes are not the the same kind that are used in pakistan/asia/middle east that can be picked up, spread on the area and removed directly. although you may find them used in some places it is rare.
