anyhow they should ask kapil dev for help and srinath. he needs a job.
Karina is right, Here is what BCCI member and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla has to say about hiring Akram.
**“Akram had indeed sent us feelers in this regard, but it is impossible to even consider him for the job. Hiring him will eventually snowball into a big political issue..” **
Look at this thread - Many pakis have already declared him a ‘Gaddar’. ![]()
For People who are saying Srinath needs a Job - Well he has a bachelors degree in Engineering
Kapil is a successful golfer and businessman. He doesn't need a job either. :)

Zero_One, why do we have Javed Miandad working at batsmen to help them on their technical flaws? Do you think Wasim can only tell them where to pitch the ball? What about how to utilise wicket conditions, how to exploit shape and shine of the ball, how to exploit a technical flaw etc. Coaching is not just to tell how to throw it or where. I am sure "caches" are hired for some reason, not just to give money to someone.

Tell me one thing how do u coach someone who gets mentally frightend every time he sights an Aussie Batsman ????
Then we r talking about two different matters: One is how to make the current attack (indian) a reasonable one and the other is get raw material for to develope them into express pace (average around 150 + Kph) for the national side ....... would u suggest the current coaching of the indian team has faild to tell them what u stated above or is more a mental problem with the bowlers ?????

Why would you "have a feeling"? I am sure its because you r INDIAN and Wasim is Pakistani, so BCCI will be egoistic and would not approach a rival nation's bowler to act as coach.
[/QUOTE]
You misunderstand me. The board does not spring surprises at anyone through the media. Even when Wright was hired feelers were first sent out by Wright and much of the accepting and offering was done before the board made a FORMAL offer.
That Wasim is a Pakistani must have made it all the more necessary to talk things beforehand before going public.

How do you know the bowlers are getting 'mentally frightened'? Did you probe their psyche via email?
It could be that the bowlers are not able to handle pressure situations and need some guidance. In the TVS final, Zaheer and Agarkar bowled very well and got rid of the openers quickly, which means they have the ability but not the maturity to put in a consistent performance. Coaching takes into a/c many factors, and if Ganguly and Wright think that Wasim can provide some extra help than surely they are better judges to decide that than you or me!

Kapil already coached the Indian side and failed. He's too egoistic.
Srinath is not a left arm bowler like Zaheer, Pathan, Nehra and Munaf. There are a slew of lefties coming up, and that is why Wasim is a good choice.
Srinath can always coach the right arm bowlers. As for jobs- he has a job already, plus he is a commentator and cricket writer now. I have no doubt he can open a bowling academy in B'lore if he wants to. Don't worry about his earnings.:)

Shame on guys who is making this Coaching Issue as India and pak issue.
Wasim is just a professional and he should be respected if he wants to do it.It will definitly bring the players of 2 nations closer.
This is pathetic that he is being called as traitor. Why dont we call a Aussies or NZL a traitor when they coach Indians or Pakistanis. What the big deal here.It is just a Job.

Rivalry in the game b/w NZ vs India, Aus vs Ind is not at all comparable to Pak vs Ind. Pak and Ind also share "political", "geographical" rivalry which is what makes many people uncomfortable.
India has made the first move.
Personally I don’t mind him coaching the below talented Indian bowlers, nothing in the world can help them.

Wasim Akram: mentor to India’s new generation?

Wasim Akram has been approached by the Board of Control for Cricket in India to be the team’s fast bowling coach. According to a report in the Indian Express, the proposal was mooted by Sourav Ganguly and John Wright, and accepted by the board.
The newspaper quoted Ganguly as saying, “To me, he is greatest fast bowler of the modern era. And I feel that since he is left-handed, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra and Irfan Patham will benefit from his tips. Akram has always been helpful to junior cricketers. So we decided to propose his name to the board.”
Akram had recently started working as a commentator with ESPN-Star Sports, and is expected to be in Australia next month as a summariser for India’s tour. In addition to being the most prolific wicket-taker in the history of the international game (414 Test wickets, 502 in ODIs), Akram was a source of inspiration to a whole generation of younger quick bowlers. The very fact that Zaheer, Nehra and Pathan all bowl left-handed says much about the impact he had, and his ability to transcend borders.
With Javagal Srinath having announced his retirement, India’s pace attack to Australia - which has only 57 caps between them - lacks any sort of specialist guidance. Jagmohan Dalmiya had spoken of Srinath being used as a coach or consultant in future, but it now appears that Akram is favourite for the job.

When u read my post carefully u'll find only criticism about the mental approach towards the games agains AUS but surely not the physical ..... further i didn't say there not able r up to ..... go read again
India’s cricket chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has slated suggestions Wasim Akram has been approached to become the team’s bowling coach.
It was reported on Wednesday the Indian board (BCCI) had agreed to hire Wasim for the upcoming tour of Australia.
“I don’t know why some people are making such speculation. We never even thought of it,” Dalmiya said.
“The matter was never discussed with Wasim, nor has he ever broached the subject before us.”
It was reported the BCCI was acting on a request from captain Sourav Ganguly and coach John Wright to hire Wasim.
“Why Wasim? Simply because he is the greatest fast bowler of the modern era,” Ganguly said after India were beaten by Australia in the final of the one-day TVS Cup tournament.Thirty-seven-year-old left-armer Wasim retired from cricket in May with 414 Test wickets and a world record tally of 502 wickets in limited-overs cricket.
He will be in Australia to work as a commentator on the four-Test series.
“It helps that Wasim will anyway be in Australia for the series,” a BCCI official was reported as saying.
“We should take advantage of his presence there.”
The Indian team, which departs for Australia on Friday, includes three left-arm seamers - Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra and rookie Irfan Pathan.
The Indian government last month ended a three-year boycott of bilateral cricket matches against Pakistan, paving the way for the arch-rivals to schedule a Test series in Pakistan in March next year.
India, who have not won a Test series outside the sub-continent since 1986, have secured just three victories in 28 Tests in Australia, the last coming in 1981.
On their last tour of Australia in 1999-2000, India were whitewashed 3-0 in the Test series with their pace bowlers ineffective on the fast-paced tracks.

Hold your hosses brudder, who said you said anything about 'physical problems'? The person who should re-read is you, cause if you re-read this particular msg of yours you'll know how indecipherable it is.
Anyways - Good news for Wasim Akram & Paki fans. Thanks to this rumor of Wasim helping Indian owlers, PCB has woken up today and Gen Zia in a press conference in Pakistan has asked Akram to Serve Pakistan, not India.
PCB asks Akram to serve it, not India; offers job of coach
ISLAMABAD, NOV 19 (PTI)
Even as BCCI denied it had sought the services of former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram as bowling coach of Indian team, the Pakistan Cricket Board today said it would like to offer him a job to train young fast bowlers in the country. “**Certainly we want Akram with us, he was a great bowler and an all rounder and we would like to offer him a job to assist PCB in the development of our fast bolwing department”, **PCB Chairman Tauqir Zia told newsmen in Lahore this evening. On reports of BCCI offering the job bowling coach to Waseem, Zia said it is time that “the former Pakistan skipper should contribute and serve Pakistan cricket”. He said PCB would like to acquire the services of Akram rather seeing him serving the Indian cricket and said much also depends on him to decide his future with Pakistan Cricket or Indian Cricket. “It is time to return something to your country which owes it from you as you earned fame and everything. They are the greats of Pakistan and they must consider what their country demands from them and they should serve their country rather serving abroad”, he was quoted as saying the official APP new agency today.
Paki Paranoia at its best.
Court asked to stop Wasim Akram from coaching Indians
November 20, 2003 - 12:20AM
A Pakistani court has been asked to stop former cricket captain Wasim Akram from accepting an offer to coach rival India.
“India is our enemy, and for money Akram should not be allowed to coach the enemy. It is tantamount to a retired army official training the Indian army,” Najmul Abbas, an individual not associated with any cricketing body, said in his petition to a civil court in Pakistan’s eastern city Lahore.
Akram, 37, has been asked to appear on Friday to respond to the petition.
The lawyer representing Abbas, Ansar Mahmood Bajwar, said the **world-class bowler was a weapon Pakistan could not afford to share.
“Akram is like a nuclear weapon ** :hehe: and with Indians due to come to Pakistan next year the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must stop him from grooming Indian fast bowlers,” Bajwa said.
The same lawyer is fighting a separate case against Akram for modelling in a liquor advertisement in India.
Akram, who retired from international cricket in May this year, is in India as a guest of local sports television programs and is due to meet Indian cricket officials later this week.
I wonder which weapon this guy is talking about :hehe::rotfl::hehe:
Bechara Wasim, hum sab raazi, beech mein tapak para Kaazi.
There's only one thing to do - Akram will coach clandestinely in Australia. We will pay him under the table.
“hum sab” , yeah ![]()
I wish this is only a rumour bcuz i think most of his fans will start hating him for some reasons:rolleyes:
