1) It can't be significantly higher than NYC.
2) With the low interest mortgages it's not difficult to get a good loan especially if you make a healthy 60k income.
3) A 60k income starting as stated in this thread is pretty good especially if it comes with a pension plan.
4) Put a portion of that income into savings accounts and let it grow.
5) Don't buy things you can't afford.
Most Americans are in debt because of #5. 60k isn't rich but it's healthy. It's pretty easy to comprehend.

60k is fine; i have friends earning closer to 30-40k who manage, though having roommates is almost always a must.

It boils down to if the bank knows you're going to be able to pay it off. But yeah interest rates are always going to be high because Americans are stupid for the most part.

60k in a metro city, by urself .... u wont be able to save much... if ur single rent with some u know...u;ll be able to save a downpayment..maybe

TD, 60k is nothing cuz we're gonna be getting 6 figures soon. But i'm being reasonable here. Even if i'm making 150k, i'd tell a guy making 60k he's fine.
