Washington!

Re: Washington!

^ it depends on what part of maryland or dc. But yah, I think in general you can find a more conveniently located place in Maryland that is reasonably priced. Then again, what's reasonable? In my area there are small one or two-bedroom condos seliling for $800,000+.

Re: Washington!

DC stands for "Dirty City". Whatever you do dont live in the city itself. It's a rat infested dump. Live in either maryland or virginia. virginia's is a bit more expensive and has higher taxes but well worth it.

If you are single and living in an apartment on your own look to make about $60,00+ to live comfortably. 1 bedroom apartments in northern Virginia are going for about $1500/monthly.

Re: Washington!

I never thought i'd see people say 60k a year isn't enough to survive.

Re: Washington!

things are quite expensive these days. its enough to survive. you just wont have much of a savings and retirement.

Re: Washington!

60k a year is enough to raise a family let alone feed yourself.

Re: Washington!

like i said yes it is...just not enough to have a savings and retirement plan. you're thinking day to day living...not your future.

Re: Washington!

There are gorgeous neighborhoods within dc as well.

Re: Washington!

lol no i'm not thinking day to day. When I said raise a family I meant all those things you said as well. Savings, retirement plan, pensions etc.

60k a year is gonna go up eventually as you work in the same firm. You could buy a nice 5 bedroom house, a couple of cars and still retire at 65 if you know how to take care of your money.

Re: Washington!

oh yea not doubt....especially with those beautiful mature trees everywhere u look. however they are still rat infested. i read an article about it...wish i had the link.

Re: Washington!

well i said 60k! as a starting salary to be comfortable. we arent talking bout it increasing at this time. i dont get what u are trying to say!

and btw.....you cant buy a 5 bedroom house a couple of cars and have a nice retirement plan at 65 with ONLY 60k. unless its an old worn down home. btw anyone can retire at 65(as mentioned in ur post)...but will u have a nice plan is in question?

Re: Washington!

Of course. It's proven already.

Re: Washington!

do u even know how much 5 bedroom homes cost in the dc area?

Re: Washington!

you cant take just one statistic. read forbes...and you'll understand better.

Re: Washington!

No idea, 1-2 Million?

Re: Washington!

If you’re lucky.

Re: Washington!

exactly

Re: Washington!

about 60-70 K, it depends wht kinda location it is.

Re: Washington!

if u have no idea...then you really cant say its enough to make 60k now can you?

Re: Washington!

location being the operative word. it really all boils down to that.

Re: Washington!

That's how much it is in NYC. And yeah I can.
