Waqar SACKED, Rashid new Captain, TEAM FOR SHARJAH ANNOUNCED (Merged)

Interesting selection. I wont criticise selection of any player coz after all seniors have failed to deliever since a while. And yes i agree that players he talked about will be back in the team like Saeed, Shoaib Inzi etc.. But Wasim, Waqar might have to make hard choices now. Khair lets see.

**"It has been a very difficult decision to leave out the maestros but we are looking for the future. This is the beginning of a rebuilding phase and some of the bitter pills will have to be swallowed. We will have to keep patient, wait and hope for the young guns to justify their talent", chairman of selectors Aamer Sohail told a news conference.

"We have not closed the chapter on the superstars. On the basis of just one poor tournament, their past achievements and heroics cannot be forgotten", Aamer said. **

I think both Wasim and Waqar should retire gracefully now. It would be hard bringing them back into the fold after all that has happened and under the new management. Both are still fine bowlers but there's nothing left to play for and they aren't the force that they used to be. it's tough that they had to go out on a low but as Aamir said, one bad tournament can't wipe out all the fantastic achievements during their era. Two fast bowling greats of all time.

^ could not agree more :(

it's great to c these hard-headed seniors being left out...cuz now it will give rashid some sense of authority in the team. ppl like shahid afridi and shoaib akhtar can only destroy the "team" environment.

i don't expect the team to give immediate results. but the future will depend on the grooming of the youngsters by the coach. and javed is fully capable of doing that.

i think imran nazir should be given another chances cuz maybe javed can work on his technique...plus he is an excellent fielder.

the batting is decent enough. I hope Naveed Latif and Faisal Iqbal make the most of their chances.

The bowling looks weak. We should've blooded someone other than Zahid. He's a "senior" too. There must be some other good fastie out there. Umer Gul, I have high hopes of you and you better not disappoint me.

leaving anwar is just stupid! at least they should have added him for the opening slot! totally foolish stuff!

Saeed ANwar should NOT be selected for any match. He is NOT 100% fit. He is past his prime. Even during his golden days he was always having health problems. Its time for him to say goodbye.

finally....we'll no longer have a feeling that the match is fixed or that the players not giving it 100%.....no more politics.....no more money business.....these youngsters will have the will to do well more than the senior players!!!
hopefully our fielding will also improve!
nazir should be groomed.....hes really good....they should correct his faults rather than throwing him out

they are FOOLS to leave saeed anwar out.he was the ONLY success of the world cup for this team and came home as the hhighest scorer ahead of the losers like youhana younis elahi latif and razzaq.how can thdy drop saeed and still play younis khan?what has younis khan done?what has elahi done?or razzaq for that matter?

this team is ****. and they will go down like sissies in sharjah.if you think 58 all out was bad.wait till they get all out for 20.

It doesn't matter if they lose, Sharjah's not the WC. Sooner or later we were going to have to break from the past and give younger guys a chance to develop. Saeed Anwar would be a short term opener and we have enough guys who can play in that position who will hopefully improve given some exposure.

Whoever they are playing with
Good Luck to Pakistan

:k:

Good attitude.
It will pay in long run.initial one year mightbe tough but by next 2-3 yrs we will have a great pakistani team.

akb,

Aamir Sohail made the same point and I think the time for the seniors was the WC. Saeed is still a good player, but I don't think Elahi deserves the criticism he's been getting. He's done ok when given a chance and has a good average in both tests and ODI's. The team needs a new direction and some enthusiasm.

I totally agree. But I think they have overdone with Shaoib and Saqlain.I think it was more as punishment for bad attitude than for building a new team. These guys definitly have 5-6 years left.if saqi and shoib is not there then why is Razzaq.

Also Imran nazir deserves a chance. Rest is fine.

Imran Nazir is doing nothing in the on-going oneday competition.
and i m sure Shoaib will be back for the next tour or so.

I was hoping that they would blood one more fastie but they didn't.

Saby, have you seen Umer gul play? impressions if you have indeed seen him play?

Bowling/batting figures of Umar Gul and Mohd Hafeez look nice, but these are "First Class", lets see how they cash their opportunity. Good luck to Pakistan's young fighters.

I am happy that they are resting Inzimam. He is great batsman, he is having rough time, needs rest.

I think Razzaq should've been rested too. Shoaib and Afridi are good to be out for a while, both have to change before they come back, one for the attitude the other for application in batting.

Saeed's departure is a bitter pill, but for the future I hope it turns out to be good.

I am a little bit surprised about not including Shoib, Inzi, and Anwar. Watch out world, Pak is bak.
