Veggie "beef"

okay its not really beef, but its veggie shaped like ground beef… i just bought a little tube of it today, thinking of makeing burgers. Has anyone tried it? im sure it tastes differently than real beef or chicken but is it something to get used to? hmmmm

Re: Veggie "beef"

unless you plan on becoming a vegetarian or something, is there really any point to that?

Re: Veggie “beef”

I like to try new things :snooty:

Though knowing me i’d probably end up cookin the whole tube for one meal. :smack:

Re: Veggie "beef"

Never tried it...I did try Burger Kings Veggie Burger once. It was okay, nothing to get excited about. :)

Re: Veggie "beef"

pseudo meat? nah...I'm a meat-a-saurus lol. Its really just flavored tofu...I guess it tastes ok but I need my meat man. REAL meat :)

Re: Veggie “beef”

veggie beef! uggghhh eat REAL meat woman, and save environment. :emmy:

Re: Veggie "beef"

I have tried , those veggie patties , ribs, meatballs , and many other prepared dishes sold at our local grocery store. They tasted good though.
It is a good substitute for those who have high cholesterol.

Re: Veggie "beef"

I agree with Mamaof3...I need my meat!!

I have tried soy burgers (like the ones you are talking about)...nothing beats the real deal.

Re: Veggie “beef”

i don’t really like the pseudo-meat stuff sold in the regular stores. neither the texture nor flavour are anything like the real thing, although some ppl may like it. if you want to really try veggie meat, then there’s this place in chinatown that sells really good veggie meats, on hester street. here.. give this a try.. delicious stuff.

Re: Veggie "beef"

Hey I have a suggestion....make the burgers, top them with fried onions and lotsa turkey bacon and melted cheddar!! Bet it would be passably ok that way!! :)

Re: Veggie "beef"

Yesterday I made "kababs" with it... just added a little bit of masalas, some diced onions and the usual stuff, and it actually tasted really great. Only drawback that it's a bit pricey, but its versatlile and worth it.
