It is Swayamvar, Swayam means self, var means bridegroom, it was the system followed by the kings. the princess would be looking her husband among the princes invited in the swayamvar, it is mentioned in all religious epics of Hinduism. Last famous swayamvar of princess Sanyogita of Kannauj, who was “fida” on Prithviraj Chauhan of Delhi and her father was against him and did not support prithviraj against ghouri and after prithvi, ghouri decimated kannauj as well.
