^ if bad breath of a fasting person was loved by Allah SWT then Prophet Mohammed
would never promote maswak.

Peace TLK & Philo,
siwak is meant for cleaning the teeth and I think its don’t remove the smell of breath.
and I think incase of using ‘toothpaste’ we actually inhale it and feel freshness in our mouth.
P.S. 45 min left for Sehri. Time for me to leave. Will continue
after Fajer prayer or later on. ![]()
Re: Using toothpaste when fasting?
We are not talking about people. we are talking about namazi. those are special people.
But Queen, we all are discussing here, no one is trying to convince anyone. Fasting is a very personal thing and you do what satisfies your heart. Its like some people haste in breaking the fast cause its a hadees, while other wait for 3-5 extra minutes cause they want to make sure that its really the time of iftaar.
:@:
main nain bohat namazi bhi dekhe hain!!

IFANCA: Miswak, The Ancient Toothbrush
Miswak is a tan-colored stick, which is used by Muslims to clean the teeth and freshen the breath.
A few important benefits of Miswak
· Kills bacteria that causes gum-disease.
· Fights plaque effectively.
· Fights against cavities.
· Removes bad breath and odors from the mouth.
· Creates a pleasant fragrance in the mouth.
· Effectively cleans between teeth due to its bristles being parallel to the handle, rather than perpendicular, which results in effective cleaning between the teeth.
Re: Using toothpaste when fasting?
Alright, if we swallow even a little bit of toothpaste (by accident) while brushing teeth it will invalidate the fast, right?
I personally find it very hard not to swallow the toothpaste flavoured sliva...don't know about you guys.
Using toothpaste when fasting?
Toothpaste flavored saliva is going to break your fast as much as chai flavored saliva that you had two mins before sehri ended.
And I never experienced that anyway. After brushing , you can always rinse your mouth properly . And don't use minty toothpaste

Re: Using toothpaste when fasting?
Usage of Miswaak is the Sunnah of our Prophet PBUH. From the book Bazzaar, Majma’ az Zawaaid, it is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (RA), she said that the Messenger of Allah (SA) said: “Two rakaahs (of Salaah performed) with Miswaak is superior in virtue to seventy Rakaah (of Salaah performed) without Miswaak. In another narration again narrated from Her (RA) with similar meaning from the book Baihaqi, she related that the Messenger of Allah (SA) said: “The Salaah of which Miswaak is done (prior to its performance) is seventy times superior to the prayer offered without Miswaak.”
The benefits of the Miswaak have also been identified by non-Muslims through scientific research. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended the use of the Miswaak in international consensus report on oral hygiene published in 1986 and in 2000 ( Miswak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ), but stated that further research was needed to document the effects of the Miswaak. Other studies have identified a total of 19 natural substances found within the Miswak that benefit dental health. Because of the many benefits found in the Miswaak, lately, many toothpaste manufacturing companies have started manufacturing Miswak toothpaste under their brand name. One of the more recent company is the reputable Colgate company who have started making the miswak herbal toothpaste. This again shows that in the Sunnah are immense benefits, but many are yet to be discovered by science.
Miswak and toothpaste both is permissible (Islam Question and Answer - Fasting person using miswaak and toothpaste ) but the rewards or Miswaak I believe somehow we will get in this world and also in the next eternal life. There is no harm in using ‘toothpaste’ but usage of Miswaak is highly recommended as it the Sunnah of our Prophet PBUH too and it is narrated in Sahih Muslim that Prophet Muhammad PBUH said that 'he who turns away from my Sunnah he has no relation with me’ so which Muslim would like to break relation with Him PBUH?
I prefer to use miswaak rather than using toothpaste/brush.
