It was sweet way of making it obvious to viewer that He has Lesbian duaghter & still support Ban on Gay Marriage.

100% true, and very strategic. he very clearly made sure everyone knew that there was a great hypocrisy in the administration over this issue.

And I thought Cheney's Thank was more sarcatic.
I might be wrong though.

50/50. when edwards was talking about it, cheney looked very angry and violated. however, i think he actually appreciated it. or at least he did not want to make a big deal out of that particular issue, so he decided to stay quiet.

I am not watching the debate but on the radio it sounds Cheney is getting a bit aggravated.
[/QUOTE]

Nah..This is how he is always. Stone and Cold.

have u guys noticed that cheney has suddenly slowed down while discussing the domestic affairs....he is visibly down..

For those of you listening to the radio, you just missed Cheney reaching into his pocket to hit the "turbo" switch on the pacemaker. He is going for the strong finish!

welll i hate to say this but i have a feeling that edwards hit a master stroke by mentioning VP's lesbian daughter....VP seems down, quite and absent minded after that.....it is just an observation......seems like trail lawyer decided to be a lawyer for couple of moments....

Are environmental issues not on the radar of either candidates?

“Where to start” – does sound aggravated.

Lots of fodder for the ads tomorrow!

YEP..

I call this discussion TIE.

Totally agree about Cheney's daughter. So calculated, but so transparently delivered. Very lame.

Very classy and canny the way Cheney responded, because Edwards had no business bringing specifics about Cheney's daughter into it. Imagine if aRepub had done that to a Democrat. Oh the outrage we would read.

This moment encapsulated much of the debate for me. Edwards was not engaged, except for getting in talking points. He attempted one soundbite moment that fell so incredibly flat: "the America can not take this type of experience for 4 more years"
He looked over at Cheney trying to get that "You're no Jack Kennedy" moment. So lame. There was no audience per se, moron. Doesn't work without the old laugh track. Very foolish and childish looking.

Another attempted jab. "Oh were we talking about education or Jobs and the Economy?" in response to Cheney's bit on education, in which he highlighted education as a major component in fighting or alleviating poverty. Edwards wasn't listening and he looked like a punk for trying to make Cheney look like he was sidetracking on that one.

I can't believe he is a trial lawyer. And his "aw shucks " close. So insincere. So sappy.

This was experienced, confident man vs. petulant college freshman.

I want Cheney on that wall! I need Cheney on that wall!

Cheney is a pissed off, smirking caricature of an old man with old ideas. If he would have advised George I to occupy Iraq during the first Gulf War we wouldn't be in the mell of a hess that we are in now. He is a tired old man with tired old ideas whose time has come and gone. He epitomizes the self righteousness of the haughty party whose name does not belong in the same sentence as "classy". The war in Iraq and the state of the union right now is not "classy" in large part due to this smirking dinosaur, whose long resume has done nothing to secure the safety or future of this country.

I am glad that cheney is a VP canidate, not a presidential canidate, otherwise it was almost impossible to beat him.....;he is an absoulte classic statesman.....brief yet to the point, extremley eloquent and resolute...i dont like him at all but i have to agree that he is an extremely effective debator......every thing that cheney said sounded so authoritative.... he even had the courage to refuse to answer a question if he did not want to... ..edwards was good but nothing sensational....however, i would like to say that edwards did a good job in standing up to an extremely expereinced opponent.....

But here is a a serious problem for Republicans.......The way dick cheney conducted the show today clearly indicated his superiroity over George W Bush. Now if republicans boast of cheney too much, it will reinforce the rumours of dick cheney being the real guy behind the curtains and G.W .Bush being a puppet and a stupid president....Republicnas can not afford this image of Bush either.....so what will they do.....

That you can't see how restrained and in the end "classy" Cheney's response was to that thinly veiled compliment about "Cheney having a gay daughter", the only purpose of which was to say that very phrase on national television.

The party of tolerance using a cheap shot to appeal to the intolerant among the "undecided". Lame that you can only see a smirk. Edwards behaved like a political dilletante at a college party.

He apparently appeals very strongly to the like-mined. He thought he was channeling Tom Joad for his closer. It was more like Tammy Fay.

Grow up, Seminal.

Cheney has the cany ability to refuse to answer questions.

But refusing to answer questions is nothing to brag about.

A VP who refuses to answer pertinent questions is not worth anyones vote.

Definately not worh my vote.

Not worth respect IMHO.

Another symbol of an administration having a log up thier A.....

I think he declined to give answers at opportune times when saying anything more added nothing to the dialogue. "Refuse" was not a good word to describe it. Seems like you just latched onto that description form the PD's previous post and made an assumption about something you didn't even see. That's why many of you are called
"kneejerk liberals". I doubt it will change your vote, but you should study up a bit and see if you can try to make an informed decision.

Sorry Storch, but I reserve the right to judge Cheney's classiness by his lack of resraint in advising the wrong war with the wrong plan, and then continue to lie about the reasons for doing it, not his ability to show a little more discipline in a debate than his fumbling president did.

Well, I think it would have been nice if your candidate had the nads to count himself a principled anti-war candidate. Voting for the war resolution must mean something. It must mean Kerry/Edwards saw something compelling about not only the evidence re: Sadaam, but something very compelling about the philosophy of going to Iraq as part of a long term strategy in the WOT. They, with their votes helped empower the president in this venture, and Americans need to know that Kerry ** was and is for the war*. They just too chicken*** to admit it clearly.

Your candidate: Kucinich or Dean. They're out of the race.

There was no winner last night. Both guys did a good job.

By voting to give the president the power to wage war AFTER ALL AVENUES have been exhausted (as Bush promised) does not mean Kerry approved of the ill-timed, ill-planned and ill-conceived invasion and ensuing occupation that has been a dismal failure. It's like saying when I gave the dry cleaner permission to take a stain out of a white shirt, I empowered him to make a hole in it, dye it green, and then lie to me about what I gave him permission to do and the condition the shirt is in after he ruined it. The chicken**** are the ones who fail to admit mistakes and continue to mislead about the lead up and aftermath of the war.
