Re: US calls for immediate release of diplomat in Pakistan
Oh and furthermore I broke an M16A2 when I dropped it on a rock but appart from that wresting one from a soldier of any army would be a tough task for a woman. I am backing CM on this one, if anyone tried to grab a soldiers gun he might well let them grab it and while the civilian fumbles with the saftey catch and tries to bring the stock up... you can just smash em one or stick a bayonet in thier face.... To suggest a woman would try and go ninja on a modern soldier is suicide.
Re: US calls for immediate release of diplomat in Pakistan
If you are lucky enough to defend yourself when people are trying to kill you then prove to courts that this was self defence and you'll be let off. We cant sanction people to go around killing robbers, assuming that is even what happened. There is considerable doubt on that given and that he shot them in the back, fired 11 bullets (suggesitng he reloaded if he was using a pistol).
And fair point about Taleban hanging some robbers. Chalo, I want you to be better than Taleban then.
Well thats why he is under arrest. But people are condemning him unjustly even before the evidence is presented.
But all things considered, the fact weigh in his favor. These two were criminals, they had just robbed someone the same day, they were carrying weapons on them.

Maybe she was suicidal? Did you see her in court... They weren't even sure she was completely sane.
Well I guess you know exactly what goes on in an interrogation room when these soldiers right up in your face dint you?!?!/ I might not know anything, but you obviously know every detail of what can happen in an interrogation room! Pray tell, you havent been a recent guest of the US have you?
Erm Med911 Bhai I reckon CM probably knows more on such matters than yourself.
As for interogation rooms I'll tell you that while my role is not that of the millitary I can confirm that there is a plethora of utterly diabolical methods used in that line of work and I would not be suprised if Milliatary interogation was simmilar if not more adapt than any civilian techniques.
While it's true you cant physically torture a person theres plenty of ways to get someone to say what you want them to... or vice versa it happens all the time.

I think most people would be like that after being held captive... mate lets be honest here neither of us would want to be in her position.
Anyway on the case of this American it's allready clear theres more to this case than meets the eye.
Like most observers I am inclined to say that this whole episode stinks of conspiracy and the US demands only add fuel to the fire... reminds me of the cadavers case.
If those Hindus we're being attacked at the time by two KNOWN criminals, then yes, he has a right to defend himself. Even Islam gives him that right.

but bro, who decides that those two were CRIMINALS? was there a trial? how about the third guy who got killed by these americans? doesn't justice demand they they be accountable for the third victim atleast? i believe they broke so amny different laws [Pakistani as well as Geneva Convesntions]...
...just turn the situation around. if 2 Paksitani killed 3 americans in teh USA, wud they get the same treatment?**

Naa they would be locked up before you could say string em up.... which is what the yanks could get away with.
This global double standards wont last long... at this rate things will be very dangerous if America does not be carefull and if Pakistan's goverments dont grow some spine.

Ahhh... Im sure CM has had plenty of experience either interogating or being interogated, so I cant comment.
But the fact of the matter is that he wasnt there at the time of Aafias interrogation, so he doesnt know what the circumstances were. Seems to me he knows quite well trying to grab some officers weapon is a dumb move, but she obviously didnt, and hence the reason she is in prison.

3 years in field work, taking care of CIMIC operations, leading road convoys and dealing with Rebels in Darfur. In Afghanistan I work with PRTs and ISAF on a regular basis. So yes I do know what I am taking about. I know exactly how professional the average US soldier is, how well trained they are and how freaking difficult it is to get their weapon away from them. These men are tough and strong and honestly its an insult to them to think a weakling 5 foot Pakistani woman could wrestle away a weapon from them.

I said give the guy a trial and let him prove his case. As it stands, the evidence is in his favor.
And the situation would be no different if it were in the US. If those killed were threatening said Pakistani, he would be found not guilty of murder since its in defense.

It would be if you were the judge which thank Allah your not... but I sense that the Judge will have your type of Bais way of thinking.
At first I too thought this American guy might be just very unlucky as can be seen in my first few posts... however after seeing the evidence come out I am changing my mind becuase all signs point to there being a cover up and the details are still patchy and disturbing.

agree...but the US is pressuring the Pak Govt to release him unconditionally under Geneva Convention, invoking immunity clause. i've heard that they are NOT even Diplomats so they do NOT qualify for Immunity.
i also think that Geneva Convention must be changed. its heavily biased against third world countries. it only suits the imperialists and colonialists.**

Congratulations! What a resume!
Obviously there seems to ahve been a security breech when she was bing interogated. Perhaps they didnt think she was capable of doing anything to them so were to lax around her. Either way, she did manage to grab a weapon, ad almost manged to fire it, but was shot herself in the process. Your right, its was dumb move and wasnt going to be succesful.
They didnt say she wrestled it away, she grabbed it apparently when she say that she had a chance to grab it. Obvious security breech.

The judge is going to base this on the facts. The facts will be presented by the Police. The facts say that these two on the bike were criminals, they had weapons. What conclusion would the Judge draw, regardless of whether it was me or someone else.
And if they were shot in the back, that means nothing either. How do we know they didnt speed up and try to get ahead of the car to shoot at the wind shield?
Judge will have to go by facts. Facts say this guy is probably innocent.
I dont know which details your refering to beyond these.
Re: US calls for immediate release of diplomat in Pakistan
But Med911 bhai just becuase someone tries to grab a weapon does not make them a terrorist.... mad maybe but not terrorist.
As far as this case is concerned I think by now most people have made up thier minds and it sure looks and bears all the hallmarks of a cover up... the way it's being dealt with is only excacerbating the issue.
