US calls for immediate release of diplomat in Pakistan

This is something new and quite weired. What was this guy up to?

LAHORE: Three people were killed when a foreigner, David, reportedly a US Consulate employee, opened firing and hit a motorcycle while escaping from the scene at Mazang Chock, Geo News reported.

According to details, accused David opened fire at people ridding on motorcycle. Resulting, both were critically injured and succumbed to injuries in Services Hospital.

Too which I could almost jump in and say yeah i agree with you... but it's not that simple anymore is it?

I think Every nation has it's crazies and in every genius there is a mad pragmatist.

I can only hope and pray that sense and wisdom prevails over animalistic and barbarism.

most of the time i agree with you, but here, i find it very illogical to bring in "mullah" and call them "ghazee baradree"

as per news, its a murder case, he killed some with firing and then also someone else while trying to flee the scene... police arrested the killer and nothing more is known yet. what this has to do with "Mullahs"?

Yaar I meant no offence and I aplogise if it offended anyone I will correct the error on my part right away.

It was a mere refernce to the Right wing Extremists in Pakistan who are going to say that every thing is the fault of foriegners.

While I am not blind to this and indeed there is much evidence at guilt by foreign powers in Pakistan is it not also a wakeup cal to us Pakistanis to do somehting about it...

At the moment I think it's just a case of a random nutter but if details emegre proving otherwise then we really have a situation here...

Anyhow Borther I am sorry and apologise to you and my friends who read this and think I have become a left wing crazy... fact is I sit on a bench that is most precarious at the best of times...

As per initial accounts both of the guys riding bike, who he killed by firing, were trying to rob him but he retaliated. When mob saw a “gora” killing/firing at 2 “brown”, they went after him and he tried to flee and in the chaos he hit another guy by his car (who died in the hospital later on)

What I want to watch closely is how the courts deal with this guy if they let him off lightly or will he face simmilar punishment to any crime that was simmilarly commited by a Pakistani.

IF the accounts are right, he should not be punished and btw, if he was the US consulate employee, I am sure he has diplomatic amnesty anyway.

Now that is the nub of it…

I wonder if an Iranian or other diplomat in a foriegn country acted in a simmilar manner would he be let off as well… I really dont think so… :no:

I heard on ARY that there were no weapons found on the bikers and that they were just driving by? Even if they were trying to rob him, could he not just call for help in an area so busy? Ofcourse he's going to be free, he claims it was self-defense, no one's alive to refute the claim and, on top that, he's a US consulate employee!

He didn't kill the third person in self-defense though. He should be charged with manslaughter in the case of the innocent passer-by who was killed.

or lets say if a similar crime is committed by a Pakistani diplomat in the US, what would be the case. as BarbieCue said above, both the guys on bike are dead, and they were not found carrying any weapons, but they are not alive to refute his claim, and i don’t think general public will be allowed to speak in this matter in the court, that is IF the case goes to court.

Yes. The diplomats have diplomatic immunity from prosecution in the host country regardless of crime.

CNN are reporting that when the US consulate sent a car to the police station where Raymon David was being held, that car was involved in a crash which killed an additional motorcyclist.

BBC are reporting that weapons were found on the bodies of the first 2 attackers.

Police told the AFP news agency that the American fired his pistol in self-defence. US embassy officials confirmed that an American was involved.

Police say that the men were pursuing the American in his car.

A pedestrian was also killed by a speeding car from the US consulate which came to help, police say.

“The man told us he pulled out his pistol in self-defence,” Lahore police chief Aslam Tarin told AFP.

Police told the Reuters news agency that they were investigating whether the two men on the motorcycle were robbers.

Weapons had been recovered from the bodies of the dead men, police said.

No result, the shooter had diplomatic immunity. Britain has spent decades asking Libya to extradite him for murder, libya has refused.

Vienna convention: Diplomats can not carry weapons. He broke a cardinal rule.
