Re: Urdu (Language)
I am a Kashmiri myself, btw. The Kashmiris who love Urdu are (i) the puppets financed by Musharraf, and (ii) people who earn a living from Urdu. Kashmiris love their own language, Kashmiri. Why should they love Urdu? For them, Urdu/Hindi only has utilitarian value - as a way of communicating with the rest of the subcontinent for trade or business purposes. Nothing more, my friend. Nothing ideological.
Re: Urdu (Language)
overall the state of muslims in India is in decline and obviously urdu which is normally spoken by the muslims wont have that much patronage by the state as compared to other languages but still the private sector and other organistions are active in promotion of urdu. There are several newspapers and magazines published in urdu language all across India.urdu is taught at universities in the hindi speaking belt and andhra pradesh. There are other universities like aligarh and osmania still functioning in India.I think there is an urdu channel as well.
I dont think so urdu is completely replaced by hindi and english in kashmir. Will urdu be completely wiped out from the place of its origin I think it wont happen.Urdu is not like sanskrit that a brahmin will speak it only it is the language of the masses and surely not for classes.
Read the novel 'In Custody' by Anita Desai and you'll understand.

Wunderkind
If someone doesnot want to speak urdu it is his/her right. No one can force a language on anyone
I think majority of us agree that regional languages in pakistan should be promoted and most of us want them to be our national languages with URDU.
Re: Urdu (Language)
agreed, good finsh up syedpk.
Re: Urdu (Language)
Which category do you fall into?
Re: Urdu (Language)
very good points syed pk.
I live in a complete jutt land (sikh)area in Toronto. No one would know better then myself of their life style
I do not see them any different then a Hindu.
Just becuz of a confused person like you stomp, I would not judge all Pakistani Punjabis. I have Punjabi friends and they are nothing like you are or what you have described.
P.S. You got all your information wrong buddy. Many muslim indians as well are decendet from Arab and Turks. During the turkish and spanish wars, some migrated to India and some to Pakistani areas centuries ago. Many of them are also decendent of Mughals like myself. Yes, you are not the only person who has history or rich culture, we all do and everyone here is from somewhere with hitorical background. But we do not like to brag about it day and night.
No matter how much you read in books or internet, you cannot possibly learn what Urdu and Pakistan is all about unless you live there. My 2 cents, live in Karachi for few years and you will learn what diversity is all about and perhaps you will learn to tolerate people like us ![]()
Re: Urdu (Language)
respect sista :k: people who brag too much are actually low lives, it’s in the fitrat of scummy people to brag, all talk but in real life they are nothing.
some of this guys’ posts have me in stiches, he’s a joke

Re: Urdu (Language)
Thank you Sayedpk! That is very sensible!
Give us, pashtuns, a Cubec like status in the future South-Central Asian configuration. Give all ethnicities maximum internal autonomy and the opportunity to practice and promote their cultures. Multiculturalism with dual nationalities will be beautiful.
Re: Urdu (Language)
So you are saying all of huriyet and malik guy of JKLF are pakistani puppets?
Says a lot about you… Have you really “lived” in kashmir or are you those kashmiris by connection like our so called “afghan” punjabis? ![]()
Re: Urdu (Language)
yeh thats the only for pakistan to surive. Glad to hear we are getting somewhere.
Re: Urdu (Language)
Very good! One should own one's culture and language instead of being shy of it.
Re: Urdu (Language)
What is Cubec? ![]()
jk
On another front, a 3 tier system like US (feds, state and local) should be implemented in pakistan. Urdu can be taught with english but people can also should be able to speak their own languages or their should be institutes dedicated to these languages and/or forms printed in them to promote and advance the languages.
I have seen here that persian should be adopted. Frankly i don’t know how different is persian to urdu anyway ie urdu is not a totally different non-persian languages. Pashtuns already speak urdu so I don’t see waz the purpose of introducing persian now? ![]()
Re: Urdu (Language)
Soomru, I mean as the status of Cubec in Canada...I think future South-Central Asian configuration will be different...Most of the communities will move towards self-rule and autonomy, yet retaining strong links with each other...
Re: Urdu (Language)
Though desirable but how much do you believe it can be implemented (esp by the Army)?
In this case, the army gets decentralized and will lose power which it doesn't like..
Re: Urdu (Language)
Jal_Pari, u mean there is no one of Pashtun descent. If many are Turkish and Arab decent then what about Rohail Kand, Farukh Abad, Tonk, Bhopal, etc.?
Re: Urdu (Language)
can we pleaaaaaaaaaaase keep the discussion on topic. How many threads do you people want me to close because they turn into fights between ethnicities????
Re: Urdu (Language)
ofcourse there are many various decendents LastOfTheDinosaurs. Turkish and arabs are two out of many. My point was towards stomp who thinks only richness comes from his culture in this whole wide world.
I know about Bhopal, however would you tell us more about Rohail Kand, Farukh Abad, Tonk?
Re: Urdu (Language)
In this case, the army gets decentralized and will lose power which it doesn't like..
Apparently it seems as that but the constant intervention of military has weakened the system so much that only an image of strength remains (like an old loin) concealing the decay within....(note military has overshadowed all other pillars of strength like judiciary, legislature, executive,....etc. look at the constitution, the soul of a political entity...there is practically no constitution) believe me the entities that derive strength from militray power alone fall suddenly... anyhow it is so unfortunate...but let us be rational and face the future whatever is in store in it...
i meam adjustments are inevitable due to a multitude of external and internal factors...
Re: Urdu (Language)
Jal-Pari, i would’ve deliberated upon that but the moderator has asked not to devaite from the topic…so in some other thread…and sorry…
