Stomp suggested that punajbi should be the national language and many Guppies including myself expressed their views on this issue.I dont know from where pakhtuns come in the picture???no one is against regional languages read my posts and others as well.But racist remarks on punjabi and urdu speaking people are illogical.There are various suggestions about the settling of biharis.Some say they should remain in bangladesh others want them to be in pakistan.We have illegal immigrants from afghanistan,bangladesh and burma so those who call themselves pakistani should be and can be brought to pakistan thats the case and can be settled in any part of pakistan.
No one should have any complex regarding his mother tongue.If pakhtuns love their language no one should have any problem with it same goes for other languages.

Urdu is the other name for Hindustani, the language spoken by Hindus and Muslims alike. It is Hindustani written in Quranic script. Hindi is another name for the same language. The only difference is the script which is Devanagri in the case of Hindi.
So Urdu and Hindi are just the name of scripts. Diction, vocabulary, and grammar are just the same.
Promoting Urdu-Hindi is an attempt to spread Indinization/Hindustanization that must be stopped at all costs.
Before I start debunking some of the erroneous posts, I would like to mention can we please stop the name calling from now on? Let’s make this a mutual agreement. We are all grown up adults and we should be able to have a debate with out name calling or using ad hominines. Some of you have really good ideas like making the majority of the spoken languages national languages of Pakistan. I am all for Pakistan I am a Pakistan, however Punjab is the most prosperous part of Pakistan, the reason being Punjabis are hard working people. We have the best architecture and the best universes in the Punjab province. Rest of Pakistan could be same; however the tribal areas are holing the nations back and places like Karachi where crime is at epidemic proportions. All of these places need to be reformed. But the problem is, most Pakistanis are paranoid and they always assume the government is upto something bad. Take the dam issue for instances, Pakistan needs dams so it can generate power and provide clean drinking water without these dams there will be major problems, the tribal areas will dry up there will be no water (global warming) land which could have been cultivated before to grow rice and wheat will dry up, the area will eventually turn into desert.
Even without the ecological, problems we are facing there is still threat from out traditional enemies (India) it controls most of the water flow into Pakistan, if god forbid India cut off water supply to Pakistan 1000s would die, the country and economy would be brought to its knees. These are the issues many of the backward tribal people do not understand. Soon those same people will have no where to live, they’ll become refugees in there own lands. This is the reason why we really need to urbanize these areas. Bloochistani separatists demanding a separate nation is just totally stupid and illogical. Look at Bangladesh it’s a **** whole, Pakistan is better off without it, the same could be said for these places like Blochistan, you’ll not be better off without Pakistan, you’ll be worse off. And we need to get rid of these Islamic parties running for government in Pakistan, they are only after there own gains.

Stop talking about of your ass my friend it was Punjabi men who strapped bombs on themselves and blow up Indian tanks. When nothing was left, my uncle tells me men from Karachi when the tank caught fire would leave the tank and run off. Because, being burnet alive then you can’t go to Jaanat that is what they believed the loads of non Punjabis disbanded their tanks and run like chickens when the Indians where napalm style attacks on tanks.
So when you don’t agree with someone you say they’ve been listening to “too much propaganda”? And yeah I might not know my history as well as you, but still know the basics of what happened and its all comes from natural sources.
I wouldn’t really have a problem with a greater Punjab. If Pakistan didn’t existed but as along as it exists them am going to be part of he, because our boys sacrificed there life’s for it. Even if there was a greater Punjabi, Muslims would out number non Muslims 10 – 1 or perhaps more. Muslim Punjabis would have so much influence over it. I am a Muslim not a Sikhs, but I do believe as Muslims we should respect other peoples places of worship. The Sikhs could live as Dhimmis if Pakistan had Sharia law, although I believe Pakistan should be a secular nation.
When did I say we should not respect Hindus? I said we have more in common with Sikhs then Hindus, and Sikhs have not massacred Muslims in India in recent history but Hindus have, Sikhs are generally a lot more tolerant to Muslims then Hindus are on a whole. And I also said Sikhs practice modesty similar things to Muslims, their women don’t walk about half naked, like Hindu women.
It’s a war ridden backward place sorry I wouldn’t like to come there.

I could agree with you about dalkhors, but Punjabis are strong warrior men, just like many of the true pushtoons, and I am not talking about half-breed Pathanis from Pakistan am talking about the pure blood pushtoons. The obvious fact is, all Indic languages like Punjabi, Siraiki, etc. may ultimately vanish and the language of the Gangetic Plains i.e. Urdu-Hindi (previously called Hindustani) may take over. This is because Urdu-Hindi is a good solvent for Punjabi etc. There is this Sikh factor though who are very Punjabi patriotic and are keeping their language alive.
Urdu and hindi are similar thats true and if anyone connects religion to some language thats simply stupid.For example when some people hear arabic they think it is something islamic what they dont know that many arabs and there population is in millions are christians(maronites of lebanon) and some are jews as well.

Stomp man, this is not the question of being brave. This is about the natural right of a people to practice their ancestral culture and be politically sovereign.
In their patriotic zeal, these people are ignoring that Pakistan has a (not so satisfactory) history of just 56 years, whereas Punjabi, Pashtuns, Baluchis, and Sindhi nations have existed for millinia and developed as a result of a long and complex process of evolution. There is no example in history where nations have been created artificially.
Political identity exists only on your passport and citizenship document. It is your race, culture, values, etc. that gives you actual, durable, and profoundest identity...political identity is very transient...
You are a brave man to be confident of your Punjabi identity. I want to see more Punjabis like you!

Yes I agree with you. I think by the government not recognizing this its making a major error, soon there will be nothing left of Pakistan. The Blochis want to separate, Kashmirs want to separate. Nothing will be left of Pakistan. And then we will have to do something, the Punjabi’s will have to unify Punjab and make a democratic country out of it. And Punjabi’s are the only ones who will be able to do this. I don’t want everything to despair, and if that means making alliance with Sikhs to safeguard the future then so beat it.

You have said it before that you havent been too pakistan many times.whenever you visit Pakistan do visit karachi as well you will find it the most developed part of pakistan and it is not a biast comment the facts and figures confirm this.karachi generates 65% of pakistan.karachi is the business hub there are good universities in lahore no doubt about it but karachi is the most literate city.

Culture is not confined to movies only...appreciating artistic content of another culture doesn't mean the culture has become all-pervading...a lot of people watch English movies and listen to Arabic and Dari songs but that is only voluntary...Further, culture is not limited to songs and movies only...it is an all encompassing phenomenon with many dimensions like language, values, norms, traditions, social organization, folklore, litrature...in fact everything about a culturally cohesive group...

I want to say learning another language should be voluntary and for some utilitarian value...an alien language should not be imposed on native speakers (by associating it with religion or patriotism). I don't hate Urdu-Hindi speakers! I only dislike their cultural chauivinism.
