Looll when my sis got married, she got married back in Pakistan (this is about 10 years ago now) and they displayed all the gifts given to her by her in laws on the wedding day. At some point in the day they decided to show everything she was given, from hankies and undies to her gold sets, just to emphasise just how THOUGHTFUL they were.
to this day when we see the wedding video and how all the aunties are picking it up to display proudly to the guests it still makes us all crack up

WOW!!! I’m just speechless…I was once “just casually” requested of this. I was really offended first but was told that it was said in good humor and that’s how I took it as - just a playful, casual, rather flirtatious behavior. Never knew it actually happens in our culture. And I’m not even a hijabi or come from a very orthodox and conservative background.

I think it really depends who gives it to you or who asks for it. if my fiance asked, i'd probably give it. if some homeless guy asked for it i'd push him in front of a bus
