Read this very important statement from daily times
*UN team to submit BB murder probe report by March 30 *
KHAIRPUR: The UN Commission team – probing the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto – will submit its report to the government by March 30, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdullah Hussain Haroon said on Sunday. Talking to reporters, Haroon asserted that former president Ayub Khan “sold out” to India the three rivers branching out from the Indus, which is the reason for the acute water shortage being faced by Sindh. He said the people of Sindh would have to emigrate after 20 years due to the non-availability of water, and the province’s water supply would dry up in three decades time. There is no reason to increase the height of the walls of the Tarbela and Mangla dams, he added. Haroon said the people of Sindh had a right to the province’s coal resources, and therefore the royalty from coal must be given to the Sindh government. app

I am sure that security was not the only reason as told in this news by the Dunya TV.

BB’s murder: UN probe team reaches Islamabad**
A four-member UN team probing Benazir Bhutto’s murder has reached Islamabad today.
The UN team, led by Morocco Alka, would meet important personalities during their visit. The team would also visit Sindh where it would visit important places and meet key people. Earlier, the UN team’s visit was postponed twice due to security risks.

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

Just see at my previous posts and try to read behind the lines. I was in hope that UN team could do anything but now it seems that the gang behind the death of Benazir Bhutto is using their friend Talibans to stop this probe.

UN team cancels Pakistan visit amid security fears Updated at: 2031 PST, Thursday, February 04, 2010

KARACHI: Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Abdullah Hussain Haroon said that the UN Commission probing assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had refused to arrive in Pakistan due to security fears.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he expressed the concerns that the government’s assurance to provide proper security to the UN team was not being implemented, As a result the UN inquiry team has refused to visit the country, he said.

“A game is being played against Pakistan in the name of Mullah Omar, al-Qaeda and Taliban,” Haroon opined, continuing our internal situation would further worsen if operation moved to Balochistan after NWFP.

“We need to rethink what we got after fighting for the cause of United States for 35 years,” he commented.

This is very serious issue and I ask honorable PA writers to please give your view.

Benazir murder: UN probe team in Pakistan

Islamabad, Feb 2 (IANS) A four-member UN team arrived here Tuesday on its fourth visit to Pakistan to probe the 2007 assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto but the jury’s out on the extent to which it would be able to succeed.
The team, during its stay in Pakistan, would record the statements of several important personalities here as well as in Sindh, Online news agency reported, quoting a private TV channel.
Strict security measures were in place at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport as the team arrived.
Pakistan had sought a UN probe a year ago after its own investigations and those by Scotland Yard failed to make headway into Bhutto’s killing Dec 27, 2007 in a gun and bomb attack as she left a political rally in the garrison town of Rawalpindi.
This was because the area where the incident occurred was washed clean soon after the killing, destroying whatever evidence that might have been gathered.
In July last year, it was announced that the UN team would have a limited mandate.
Its mandate does not include undertaking criminal investigations or prosecuting the perpetrators, which are the sole responsibility of the Pakistani government, a spokesperson for the office of the UN secretary general told reporters in New York.
In December 2009, the Pakistani government barred the UN team from meeting the country’s top military leadership as part of its investigations.
In a letter to the Pakistani government, the team’s head, Chilean Ambassador to the UN Heraldo Munoz, had sought access to top military and intelligence officials for interrogation.
Among those the commission specifically wanted to meet were Pakistani Army chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, as also former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt. Gen. Nadeem Taj and former Director General Military Intelligence Maj Gen Nadeem Ijaz, both of whom were in office when Bhutto was assassinated.
The government, however, denied the commission permission to do so.
The government initially remained silent on the letter for some time, but after repeated requests from the UN commission, forwarded to General Headquarters (GHQ).
The GHQ, in return, turned down the request, saying it was against the prestige of the army chief and other top military officials to stand before a UN team for questioning.
The GHQ also contended that the request was against the terms and conditions and agreement made with the UN Commission.
The UN Commission countered that under its terms and conditions, Islamabad was to provide access to any official or individual that the commission thought could throw light on Bhutto’s assassination.

The team, headed by DIG (Investigation) of Punjab Hamid Mukhtar Gondle, is likely to submit an initial report to the provincial government in two days.

A source told Dawn that the investigation team, which had quizzed Hasnain Gul and Rafaqat Hussain for more than one and half hours, however, failed to get any information that could lead to the arrest of the attackers.

According to him, the accused told the investigators that their group had never missed targets in the past and always struck successfully, unlike the failed attempt on Sheikh Rashid’s life.

According to the source, the militants, however, said that before their arrest they had helped a militant, identified as Shahid, to carry out a suicide attack on Sheikh Rashid’s Lal Havaili, but he failed to do so and later blew himself up outside a golf club on Jhelum Road.

They told the investigators that Shahid had also made an attempt to kill Sheikh Rashid during a rally in 2005.

UN’s Benazir probe likely to resume this month

**ISLAMABAD: The government has allowed the UN commission investigating the assassination of Benazir Bhutto to record statements of Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and other senior military officers.**

Informed sources told Dawn that the three-member UN team was given the permission by President Asif Ali Zardari during a meeting at the Presidency on Wednesday.

Immediately after the meeting, DawnNews reported, the team called on ISI’s Director General Lt-Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha at the agency’s Islamabad headquarters.

The sources said that military officers had earlier expressed some reservations but they agreed to meet the team after their concerns were addressed.

In January, the government had turned down a request made by the UN panel to record statements of Gen Kayani, who was director general of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) at the time of Bhutto’s assassination, head of Military Intelligence and other military officers.

At Wednesday’s meeting, President Zardari expressed the hope that the UN team would get full cooperation from all institutions concerned. He also asked them if they faced any difficulty in carrying out their work.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Secretary General to President Salman Faruqui and President’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar also attended the meeting.

Talking to journalists, Babar quoted the president as saying that the nation awaited the findings of the commission and wanted to know the motive behind the assassination.

“The stature of Bhutto called for an independent, transparent and above-board investigation so that no accusation of bias of any kind could be made by any circle,” the president said.

The terms of reference of the UN Commission clearly say that the commission can interview anyone, including top military and political leaders.

The commission was to submit its report to UN Secretary General in six months, but its mandate was extended by three months. Now the commission is expected to submit its report next month.

The spokesman said that the commission would submit its report to the UN secretary general and also share it with the government of Pakistan.

APP adds: In the evening, the UN commission called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani who said that the assassination of Benazir Bhutto was a colossal loss to the country, people and the PPP.

He said leaders of her caliber and stature were seldom born. She had the ability, experience and a vision for the betterment of people of developing countries like Pakistan.

Gilani said every possible support and assistance would be extended to the commission in its endeavour to find out facts about her assassination.

** GEO Pakistan**** UN team probing BB murder to submit report on Mar 31** Updated at: 2235 PST, Friday, February 26, 2010

ISLAMABAD: The UN Commission probing assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto would submit its report on March 31.

The commission chief Mr Heraldo Munoz left the country Friday after completing his visit to Pakistan.

The commission will present the report to the UN Secretary General on March 31. It will later be shared with Pakistan.

During their third tour to Pakistan, the UN team held separate meetings with the President, Prime Minister, top officials and members of civil society.

Earlier, they also met with former chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and former IB chief Ejaz Shah.

I am sure that the killers will be thinking that they have been succeeded to get them clear through the historical pressure and blackmailing the PPP government, but I hope that God should not give them a way to do this.
There will be any breaking news soon **Insha allah

Must listen this
**

aisa to nahin hoga ke khoda paharh aor nikla chooha!

All the evidence was erased by General Musharraf Pervez. Zardari did not allow post martem and Musharraf accepted his request violating the country's laws. Ex TTP chief denied his involvement. All forces were working in favor BB's murder. Do not expect much out of this commission. Such murdrers would remain mystries as usual. Most probably UN commission will blame on ex TTP chief Baitullah Mahsood as British intelligence agencies nominated by Musharraf. Case closed. Who will then challenge UN enquiry findings? You have no choice then. It is a shame and unfortunate incident (gunahe be lazzat) in the history of Pakistan.

You are right but don't hope this time. Today I have heard a statement of Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Abdullah Hussain Haroon at Geo Tv. He said that killers of B.B. are in Pakistan and this probe by U.N. will be a start. You said about postmortem. I have written the position in this thread and you can asses the situation. Now people are much aware. Thanks for your interest. We have lost many leaders and thousands ordinary persons . This can only stop when once some face the consequences.

I am quoting my statement because I have heard my self this statement on TV and it was a very important statement by an important personality but very surprisingly this news is no where now. This was on GEO on 28th February 2010. There was another information that the team failed to record the statement of Mr Pervez Ellahi but the matter is not clear. Can someone knowing more about networking will help me in this regard.

Investigators are searching for four military personnel who had disappeared just before the assassination of the former prime minister. — File Photo
ISLAMABAD: Investigations into murder of Benazir Bhutto take a new turn as Pakistani officials said they are searching for four military personnel who had disappeared just before the assassination of the former prime minister.
Interior ministry officials told DawnNews that the missing soldiers were retired army personnel who were among the eight army soldiers related to the main accused and a proclaimed offender in the case, Ibad Ur Rehman.
The interior ministry officials disclosed that investigators are facing difficulties in determining the exact status of these soldiers and so far no record had been provided. The four other soldiers are still serving the army.
These four army personnel had never been mentioned in the legal proceedings before an anti-terrorist court in Rawalpindi.
This is the first time that the investigators are probing into the possibility of army soldiers’ involvement into the assassination of the former prime minister.
A UN commission constituted to probe into the assassination of Ms. Bhutto is expected to submit its report by the end of this month.
When DawnNews tried to ascertain the view of military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas on this revelation, he could not be reached on his telephone despite repeated attempts.
