27th December 2007
Another black day in Rawalpindi history which jolted Pakistan and whole world.
Pindi had already barden of two bodies of primeminters sent to thir home towns after their assesination Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Liaqat Ali Khan. That was the day when proposed election was just 12 days away and both the major leaders Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto were in Rawalpindi. At the time news were coming in media about firing on Nawaz Sharif’s rally and killing of his many party workers by Q’s mafia wing .Benazir Bhutto got this news during her public meeting at Liaqat Bagh and she was trying to contact Nawaz Sharif to condole on his workers killing but same time the tragedy happened. Now after one year we can asses the loss to us.
Re: 27th December - a day to remember
A dead criminal is still a dead criminal. Ones actions in life define how they are to be remembered. All I remember is a woman who looted the country and destroyed whatever she could. Her husband is doing a bang up job on making sure that is a family tradition.
Anwer Pasha,
That was the greatest tragedy in history of Pakistan. It is very unfortunate leaders likeZAB or BB who were the voices and loved ones of majority of Pakistanis killed in merciless manner plunging democracy and Pakistan in to darkness of dictatorships.
Welll said CM - let us not get blinded by words and manipulative media coverage of BB. Let us judge her by her actions.
BB the "great" democrat - she is killed and guess how they decide to elect a new leader? In a real democracy people are voted into power. BB ha donly studied democracy - has she ever practised it?
Indeed it is very unfortunate that the majority of Pakistanis love despots, democrats and corrupt power hungry thieves who have given little back to the nation except extra trouble.
These so called democrats were trusted with power and not once ever succeeded. The struggle is not democracy vs dictator but military dictators vs dictators pretending to be democrats.
27th December is the day I remember as the start of 3 days of darkness in pakistan - the looting, the violence, the destruction of property and vehicles, the destruction of railways, buses and even EDHI ambulances....those PPP fanatics brought 3 days of darkness especially to Sindh.

Everything is according to your opinion and thinking, rest assure most of the Pakistani don't support such a non-sense. She was a great leader and will be remembered. Anyway, terrorists are running like chickens every where these days. Waiting for a golden news "all the terrorists & extremists are exterminated..
Well said :k:
When popular leaders are overthrown by corrupt dictators, or killed by selfish vested interests, it is no wonder Pakistan is doing so badly. ![]()

hahaha yeah yeah..benazir was an angel.. i have yet to met a single person who thinks benazir is not corrupt..even many sindhis hate her..
i hope army should take care of ppp and zardari govt
So what if few Sindhis or people like you hate her. But majority of Pakistanis loved her as soon after her death her party won in majority and now ruling.
People like ZAB and BB live in the hearts of Pakistani people and they will be remebered as long as this world exist.

Bhutto Appeals Swiss Conviction on Money-Laundering Charge - New York Times
12 million dollars in restitution. Where did they get that much money from?
Please give a name of any Mr or Ms clear alive now.Just count how much money was spent to prove her guilty. That was in billions. This topic also mentioned some innocents killed that day . Do any one know what happened in their case.
What % of the votes cast did PPP actually get?
What % of the ppp votes are cast by feudal subjects in Sindh and southern Punjab where most people dont have that democratic right to choose who to vote for?
Not many remember either ZAB or BB but the problem is that tiny minority have a powerful clout who cause destruction. All the Bhuttos ever did for Pakistan was get bits of the country/buildings named after them.
The PPP are good at winning elections but only 1 out of 3 times ddi they complete a full term - am i right or wrong?
The Pakistani people are known for electing thigs and crooks be it nawaz sharif, altaf hussain - believe me BB and ZAB are in the right category here.

12 million dollors? is it a very “big” amount? Atleast 15% of faisalabadi’s would be worth more then that..
Re: 27th December - a day to remember
Hocus Pocus thread so far.
Someone died. Sad. End of story. Just forget it guys. She will have to deal with her acts in a higher court if you believe in that. No point hitting each other with arguments. Think about the living ones.
For a bloody necklace.
Re: 27th December - a day to remember
Now only see the people going to Nodero. They are too unhappy with peformance of government but they love** Bhuttos**. Braveness of Bhuttos is a Spirit of their love. People want their leaders to be brave.

really?
Everyone has haters and lovers ,its a part of life . Some will hate her when others will like her..thts just how it works.. If you hant seen any likers that doesnt mean there are none. Just switch your tele on tommorow and see the number of people in Nodero ..
I think BB is a great loss to the country. Leaving money laundering and corruption aside. there aren't many people like BB who would go to a place knowing they are in danger and could be killed at any time. It does take an awful lot of courage to go into the public being in that situation.
hahaha yeah yeah..benazir was an angel.. i have yet to met a single person who thinks benazir is not corrupt..even many sindhis hate her.. i hope army should take care of ppp and zardari govt
Let's hope army takes care of your laskar groups lest it is taken care by someone else.

GEO Pakistan****U.N. Benazir probe team given 3-month extension: Ban Updated at: 0130 PST, Tuesday, December 15, 2009
UNITED NATIONS: Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Monday that a U.N. panel looking into the 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto needed more time to complete its investigation.
The head of the inquiry commission, Chilean U.N. Ambassador Heraldo Munoz, has requested a three-month extension of the mandate, which expires at the end of the year.
“They need more time to continue their investigation,” Ban said. “I think this is reasonable and I’m positively considering to extend it for another three months.”
The three-member U.N. team conducting the inquiry began its work in July. It is looking into the circumstances surrounding the attack that killed Bhutto after an election campaign rally in Rawalpindi city on December 27, 2007.
The panel is not expected to name suspected culprits. Any criminal investigation will be up to Pakistani authorities, but Munoz has said the commission’s findings will hopefully be able to complement the government’s efforts.
Ban set up the commission at the request of the coalition government, led by Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party.
The previous government, headed by allies of former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf, blamed Pakistani Taliban leader and al Qaeda ally Baitullah Mehsud for Bhutto’s murder.
It was a dark day in a sense that the 2 biggest political leaders (NS and BB) were going to form a partnership after the elections and then on that day she passed away and the CoD was done away with.
yes, its not the best document but ...it could have lead to some progress for the coming democratic elected government and riding of the dictator.
