UN blames Musharraf govt for BB’s murder

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

She is gone and she made sure that the sufferings of Pakistani people continues, so she imposed Zardari on us... that shows how much she actually cared about common man of Pakistan.. BTW, she stole money from me, i am not going to forgive her on that and on the day of judgment ( yes, it may come as surprise for Bhutto fan-group, but Bhuttos will be questioned)i'll get in Que to get my debt from her...

Just to show her munafqat... in 1998 she sent (symbolically) bangles to NS for not performing nuclear tests, whereas later while answering a question on CNN or BBC, she said, if she had been preimer that day, she might have not gone for the tests... what a hypocrite she was...

Last not least, all these leaders of Pakistan have no interest in Pakistan, the only reason they contest elections is to get a source of income and use that incometo secure their future by investing it out of Pakistan... She is no different... good thing Pakistan got rid of one corrupt leader, bad thing we still have way to many to get rid off.. worse thing, lots of innocent common people were killed and looted on the day she died ( well this us that how evil she was, even when get killed she managed to get other people suffer)...

God Bless Pakistan and save it from leaders like BB..

PS: People are funny, there use to be big JALSA kind of thing every 17 August (i guess) for the barsi of Zia the Kana, does that make him a saint?

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

Although i cried seeing her coffin on TV but now i am sick of PPP and what she left

                      **Benazir Bhutto Biography**

(1953–2007

http://www.biography.com/images/database_images/Bhutto_Benazir_130x171.jpg

Hundreds of thousands of mourners paid last respects to former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto Friday (Dec. 28, 2007) as she was buried at her family’s mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, the southern province of Sindh.

Bhutto was killed when an assassin fired shots and then blew himself up after an election campaign rally in Rawalpindi on Dec. 27. The attack also killed 28 others and wounded at least another 100.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced three days of mourning.

Hundreds of thousands of mourners were shown on television weeping and struggling to touch her simple wooden coffin covered with the Pakistani flag. Bhutto’s husband, Asif Ali Zardari, her three children and her sister Sanam attended the burial. Bhutto was buried alongside her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Pakistan’s first popularly elected prime minister who was later on executed by hanging.

The shooting and bombing attack on the charismatic former prime minister plunged Pakistan into turmoil. Pakistan is armed with nuclear weapons and is a key U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.

Furious supporters rampaged through several cities, torching cars, trains and stores in violence that left at least 23 dead. Pakistan’s election commission announced Jan. 2 that parliamentary elections would be postponed until Feb. 18, a delay of six weeks.

a tragic loss for Pakistan... BB had her flaws but out of the current bunch, she was the only leader capable of representing Pakistan on the global forum in a worthy manner. she was several notches above her so-called peers. and above all, she was an incredibly brave person - not a brave woman - but a brave person. so-called men don't leave their palaces nowadays. some don't leave their palaces in Lahore. others stay confined in their palaces in Islamabad. some in Dubai. others hide in London. and yet here she was going into the public and campaigning openly despite known threats to her life... if that isn't a shaheed I don't know who is. and she did it all for Pakistan. Pakistan needed her. Pakistan needed her progressive thinking.

I didn't think highly of her when she was alive and said things about her that I now regret... she loved Pakistan and wanted a united Pakistan. and as an average Pakistani, I'm grateful to her for that.

she was the only leader capable of taking on the complex challenges we face today as a nation. may God bless BB. the only leader we had... of the only truly national party we have...

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

and can ppl show a bit of class please? yes, I know it's fashionable to hate politicians because the wardi-wala bashtards say so... but she passed away. lets show some class.

no matter how awful she supposedly was according to our hermaphrodite generals, she was a two-time former prime minister who was gunned down in her own country in front of her own people. Pakistan as a federation could have been in big trouble due to this tragedy. lets remember that... lets also remember what infamy her murder brought to Pakistan. we all love Pakistan. lets also learn to respect those who participate in the democratic process and want to do right by Pakistan even if they're not angels and don't have a 100% success rate.

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

I don't care if she was President of the world. You earn respect by your actions and deeds. But by the titles you wear. She was corrupted and helped **** up our country with Nawaz Sharif. She got exactly what she deserved. Allah knows best and it seems he saw it fit for her to die in such a manner.

Her death was indeed tragic but please do not make her out to be some kind of a saint because she was n't. She was as corrupt as Nawaz if not more

And AP you have probably not listened to Dr Mubashir Hassan, one of the founding members of PPP along with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. PPP infact was founded at his residence in Lahore way back in the late 60s. Dr Mubashir Hassan was the finance minister in the first ZAB government but later distanced himself from ZAB and then PPP and BB because of their corrupt practices and incompetency. He is now an outspoken critic of Zardari and present PPP

Well said :k:

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

I hope we will remember 25th december too....seems like since BB has passed away, people have started giving more importance to 27th december, death aniversary of a person who barely did anything for Pakistan and/or Pakistani people.

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

December 25? What? Christmas Day? Hell no. Nobody is more important then BB. She was a saviour, an angel! Nobody is more important than her. Not even her father! Let alone some schmuck who created Pakistan.

I think he is referring to Quaid's day... 25th December...

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

Ohh Yes Great days
Qauid BB and Hussain

if NS and BB fked up the country, what exactly did Zia, Musharraf, Ayub and Yahya do?

NS and BB had their problems but there is no doubting that both of them believed in a united, unified Pakistan. they did their best to pacify ppl who felt like outcasts. even today, this supposedly incompetent/corrupt PPP govt has done a lot to pacify the bitterness that Musharraf helped create in Balochistan. they're trying to put out the raging fire started by Musharraf.

I "hated" BB too when she was alive. I grew up hating her because hatred for her was in the air. we were taught to hate her and politicians in general. this is perhaps the greatest success of the military's PR machinery. but eventually you get older, you learn to think for yourself, you learn to distinguish fact from fiction, you discover ppl who're worth listening and others who are not... and then you come to the conclusion that even the worst politician is better than an army dictator.

jesus christ... it's called posturing... yes, ideally ppl would always say the same thing everywhere. but does even Obama do that? he has one message for the US public and another for the rest of the world. one of his deputies is busy blasting Pakistan for not doing enough to capture that arse clown Bin Laden... the other deputy admits that the Arab moron simply got away from under the nose of the US soldiers. completely different messages... depending on audience.

politicians have different messages for internal and external audiences. BB wasn't the first to do so and she certainly wasn't the last.

Re: 27th December - a day to remember

Will she be also included in list of
Liaqat Ali Khan
Hussain Shaheed Sohrwardi
Murtaza Bhutto
Shahnawaz Bhutto
and many others
We still don’t know who actually killed them

** BB murder case: UN team postpones Pakistan visit** Updated at: 1953 PST, Monday, December 21, 2009

ISLAMABAD: The UN Commission, investigating the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto, has postponed its scheduled final visit to Pakistan for the third consecutive time.

According to sources, a 4-member UN team has returned after conducting interviews with key political figures during its visit to Pakistan.

Sources privy to high-level government and diplomatic sources told Geo correspondent Asif Ali Bhatti that the UN Commission has delayed its scheduled visit to Pakistan amid security concerns and other reasons.

According to sources, the UN team held meetings and conducted interviews with Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Sindh provincial minister Agha Siraj Durrani, former IG Punjab Ahmed Naseem, former Additional IG Chaudhry Abdul Hamid and other important figures.

Sources further said that the UN Commission could not meet with former Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool, two former chief ministers of Punjab Pervaiz Elahi and Ejaz Nisar and former Sindh chief minister Arbab Rahim and other officials due to some unknown reasons.

Incorrect, she did it for her ownself, her family, if she really cared for Pakistan like of Zardari wouldn't have been the 'chosen-one' thru 'inheritance'. What she did during her two tenures is not forgotten.

Are you talking about the same democratic process when she was making deals with the then dictator to hand-over reign to her? Are you talking about the same democratic sense she had resulting in letter-of-inheritance making Zardari the next PPP chief? Wow... that is some democratic thought-process.

Mush was handing over power to BB?? Nonsense.

As for Zardari being PPP chief, her will said this was her wish, and it was voted upon by the PPP CEC committe, akin to UK MP's voting for their leader.

PPP has been criticized for this and rightly so. yes, someone should have been chosen through a leadership race especially when PPP has giants like Aitzaz Ahsan, Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, etc in its ranks.

however, I can see why political parties pass on leadership through family. the reason is simple and it is that there are so many hands trying to break these parties that the top leadership only trusts its own blood.

for example, look at PML-N. NS was betrayed bysome of his most loyal deputies... Mushahid Hussain, Sheikh Rasheed, etc. but Shahbaz Sharif stood by him. so, it is understandable that NS leans on SS to run the party. similarly, there is no doubting that Zardari has suffered a lot for his crimes - that he committed and did not commit. so, there is no denying his loyalty to BB if not the PPP. similarly, you can see whether you and I like it or not, Zardari does enjoy support within the PPP despite a few dissidents. even Aitzaz Ahsan, Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman accept Zardari as their leader. they're not duffers. if they think he can lead the PPP currently, they must know something that I as an outsider don't know.

so, it is obvious why BB only trusted her own family to take over the leadership of the party. NS did the same. ANP is working on the same lines.

yeah, she gave us suicide bombings, drone attacks, civilians dying by the hundreds, didn't she? it's time to grow the fk up especially for us middle class ppl. things were never as bad as they were made out to be. cliches and meaningless naarabaazi only go so far.
Are you talking about the same democratic process when she was making deals with the then dictator to hand-over reign to her?
again, I used to think along the same lines. but I read a brilliant article on Dawn which really changed my opinion.

if BB (or someone else) didn't negotiate with Musharraf, what was the alternative? were the ppl who opposed Musharraf going to take up guns and fight the army? we're not an African or Latin American country where bloody coups and countercoups are acceptable. Musharraf was always going to be eased out. there was always going to be a transition. PPP helped facilitate that.

please note that I'm not a Musharraf supporter. similarly, I didn't support the PPP while BB was alive and was desperately disappointed when the PPP decided to contest the elections. but there is a limit to idealism. what would have happened if there were no elections or if there was no transition and Musharraf wasn't given a way to leave? chaos and maybe even bloodshed. PPP recognized that. and same is the reason why PML-N also contested the elections. thank God they showed some political wisdom at that critical juncture.
