OMG!!! How expensive is Umar Sayeed!!!
ok so i loved this lehnga by umar sayeed that i saw on his website its gold with floral embroidery on it, very very gorgeous. so i called him in karachi today asking for the price…
he quoted me 8-9lakhs!!!
thats like over £6700!!
i am seriously shocked, and nothing shocks me lol.
is it just me or has pak seriously gone waaaaaaaaaaay expensive?
do pple in pak seriously spend 9 lakhs on lehnga’s?
and if they do can i plz see some pics please
That is seriously haram. It’s not even about having the money to buy a dress that expensive, because i’m sure there are plenty of desi’s around the world who can afford that, but it’s haram because there are families who can’t get their daughters married because they can’t afford the dowry, and the figures are ridiculousy small (relatively speaking). For someone to buy a $ 12, 000 outfit, that’s horrible…considering you haven’t even added the cost of jewelry!

umar sayeed has always been the most exp. designer in pak. his bridal starts at 8 lakh i've been told. and personally, i don't even that the above outfit very much.

Im so sick of people debating this 'omg so many poor people around' issue.. Im sure if people have 12k to spend on a dress, they also have alot of money to give to charity which many of them infact do. How many of you give charity to poor people instead of buying your fancy clothes? It's all talk, nothing else.
Speaking of Umar Sayeed, yes he's very expensive but he does make clothes for much, much less also. I consulted him to make my bridal and he agreed to my budget which was nowhere near 12k. Not just him, almost every designer has really expensive pieces, such as HSY, even Bunto whos bridals START at 3 lakh and can go upto any crazy number depending on what you want. And it's not like those expensive dress have barely any kaam or poor quality stuff.. Im sure the price is somewhat worth the end product you're getting.

i personally dont think its worth it to spend $10,000 on one outfit.
i would rather spend $10,000 on 10 outfits!

and werent u the one that wants to go to Chinyere for the bridal and thinking about going to Faiza Samee or Sabyasachi or whomeever for the mehndi? Don't you think that even though you may spend less than $12k on ur dresses, whatever u do end up spending at these designers, the masses cant afford? Why don't you just go buy a simple red shamu satin lehnga with golden gota kinaree on it and call it a day? give the rest to charity? cuz even if u spend over $500 on ur dresses, trust me thats way more than most people in paksitan can afford.
this issue is ridiculous. i dont see how people always bring up charities when talking about weddings. if people can afford extravagant weddings, its no ones concern except there own. and it shouldnt be anyones concern if they do or even if they dont give chairty.
personally i would spend $12k on diamonds than a dress. :)

okay, no need to feel that i've personally attacked you - i'm entitled to my comments :). i just think $ 12k seems a bit ridiculous. i am wearing designers on all of my occassion, alhumdulilah, but none of them cost even half of the Umar Sayeed. i just think you have to draw a line and say "okay, its important that i look good and feel good in what i wear, but is this figure justifiable?". i realize it's all relative, but just think that number seemed really high. i'm sure Umar Sayeed has clothes for a lot less,..as that would still be a lot.
in terms of charities, i'm not getting into my involvement. It's between me and God :)

$12k might seem ridiculous to u, and the amount ur spending on ur dresses im sure will seem ridiculous to many other people. but there are people who consider even $12k to be less.

I think even $6000 is extremely unreasonable.
Anyways, personally, 12K is excessive only cz u can cmon why not get something substantial and solid like jewelery or real estate etc???

lol girls its crazy this outfit isnt even worth it! and i sooo agree with you afashionistalives! :) people do go mad when you convey such things to them so leave them alone honey! besides spending tooooooo much on your wedding even if you can afford to is stupidity and flaunting your money this way puts sooo many people out there in inferiority complexes at least thats how i feel nothing offensive or personal:)

Ah man, i really thought i would had been able to find something from him.
I have my doubts now.
But yea that is a lot, and people that have that kind of money can afford it.
It depends on what scale you are looking it on from.
For us, its alot. But for filthy rich people, its change money :) I assume :P
Instead of putting a stamp at others, i think everyone should only see themselves, what we are doing, and how we are. And let other peoples matters be between them and God.
Tho i am a bit still bumped about hearing his price tag ! errrr

Some designers are justified.. (bunto, taufiq) cz their joras are not mass produced and are the epitome of classic, in that they will always look fresh and beautiful and never outdated

$12K for a bridal is a but much for me. I think these days you can get something really nice in under $2K so there shouldnt be a need to go all the way upto even $4K.
