Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
I've been to Bradford once - there's this one designer shop called Junaid Jamshaid, it had gorgeous a-line suits and long dresses, absolutely gorgeous. Only problem is each suit started from about £111, which is quite expensive for formal wear IMO. There was also a more reasonable-priced shop, Marias, which didn't really have wedding stuff, but nice evening/party wear outfits priced around £50-£60, which is not bad. But these aren't for weddings mind you.
Anyhoo, I'm planning a trip to Ilford tomorrow, so all this information on which shops to go is great! I've been before and RDC is probably the best shop for wedding-type occasions, although v expensive! If I don't find anything there (I'm shopping for mungni outfits atm...) I'm thinking of going Southall. It's soooo big though, has anyone got any pointers on where to go? I heard from someone that there's only one nice shop in the market opposite McDonalds which has really nice loose kupray, but I don't have time to get clothes made at the moment, I need ready-made stuff! Any suggestions?
Sorry for long post!
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
Also, I saw someone mention Ilford have an Imani shop opening in 2012? I swear that's already open? I've been Ilford a few times before, and I'm like 80% sure there's a shop called Imani at the very beginning of Ilford lane - a little black shop, very nice clothes, probably the nicest shop in Ilford for reasonably-priced casual/semi-formal wear.
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
In green street you could try seema's? They're pakistani owners i believe..maybe ask them? OR if you have time you could always take in your design that you want and show them it..most shops do offer that as well..Im really sorry but I'm not good at names..i live 2 hours away from london so i only come down on special occasions or more recently for wedding shopping. other than that if you really really can go pakistan i would highly recommend it! the quality of fabric from here doesn't even compare to the delicate and elegant fabric from pakistan!
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
nnabid > there used to be a Junaid Jamshed shop on wilmslow road in manchester as well but they are closed now. I did not know they had one in Bradford.
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
Reshma is green street have nice clothes and also Khubsoorat by mani Kohli. Another shop in ilford worth checking out is Phulkari. They have a wide range of designer stuff and also sell loose sana safinaz lawns..

IMANI is a designer shop, the shop you're thinking of is called IMAAN which is not related to them, and yes they've been open for a while and are good for casual/semi stuff cos their prices are okay as well.

Hello Girlies!
I know how hard it is to find your dream dress in England! I have two gorgeous dresses which I'd like to sell. Please PM if you're interested!
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
^You should post them in the bazaar section :)
My SIL ordered her wedding lengha from Seema's in Green Street and it was a complete disaster, she said the owner had a really bad attitude.. Ended up having to buy a replacement outfit from somewhere else (I think Payal but not 100% sure)** at the last minute**.. Seema's stuff is nice but her customer service is rubbish imo..
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
Thank you Deeba! I didn't even realise there was a classfieds section lol!

Yes, I went to Ilford yesterday and realised my mistake - Imaan had some ok stuff, nothing too special, but yes Imani the designer shop is not open yet. Having said that, I went into the place anyway where it's supposed to open, and there's this lady who sells loose material, and she had some reallyyyyyyyy nice stuff, for reasonable prices (£60-£80 for an unstitched fancy suit) and they charge £15 to sew it for you as well. The clothes are not good enough to wear on your own wedding, but to wear to someone else's wedding they're fine - check them out!
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
Go to Pakistan guys!. You can get the best outfits for your day. Dont wait for the shop owners to get stuff by next year. In Pakistan or India, you can get a whole lot of nice stuff with the same prices you're going to give here.

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
I had seen a leaflet for "Asian Lifestyle + Wedding Show" coming to Manchester 25th and 26th of Feb, 2012. Is anyone going, might be worth a try to see clothes etc. over there. It will be nice to hear from someone who has already been to that show to see if it is worth it?
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
Hi hun, if you’re looking for Pakistani stuff i’d recommend Rubina Khan boutique in Manchester. My sister got married this year and she got a pakistani designer bridal replicated from them and it was gorgeous! Their prices are reasonable too, a LOT cheaper than other places in Manchester. i’ll give you a link to their fb page, hope this helps xx
Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!
