UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

^Oooh there's an Imani branch opening in Ilford near me soon! They're not open yet but am interested in seeing their range...

Burooj and je Roche! Highly reccomended.
Je Roche are apparently a bit rubbish communicators, a friend is getting her engagement dress made from there at the moment. But Definatly do Pakistani styles in formal an bridal wear custom design etc.

Burooj are amazing with there service. I'm planning on getting my bridal from here Insha'Allah but even with formats they give you so much attention for fittings and alterations and custom orders. They are so up to date and the quality is Amazing...better than alot of designer places IMO.
Also there bringing out jewellery to go with there bridals and formats so that should be interesting to see..next year apparently.

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

You can request invites directly from them for their opening ceremony which is after 15th Jan 2012. Let's hope it's not too delayed.

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

ive heard about burooj but havnt visited yet. its next on the agenda. i dnt know why i havent visited yet! been to je roche n they do have some nice stuff but i went around eid time and they were very busy and the lady didnt seem very friendly. next time i go wimslow road ill have a look. ideally i would looooooove to pakistan im wishing everyday that it somehow becomes possible. doesnt look very likely at the moment. im just so frustrated cuz i know i could kind some1 there that would be able to make my dream dress for me at a much more reasonable price than here! but oh well... dekhte hain.

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

Yeah I went inside to ask and they said mid-Jan 2012. But you can go inside now and ask for details for the main store etc

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

lol...whenever I'm in the UK I feel like canada is stuck in the eighties. What about catalogue or facebook ordering? You could go with a referral, but make sure if someone recommends you a darzi, they show you his/her work, so you know it's good.

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

OP i know what you're going through and all i can say is I'm SO GLAD my mum got one of my outfits from pakistan..thats the much better option BY FAR! a lot of shops that I've been to in london are stuck in the past what with old embroidery styles OR an outfit thats just been rolled in stones TACKFEST! i think southall is on trend though! none of the shops in green street have anything new EVEN THOUGH the owners are like no this is new stuff and I'm like NO this ISNT new stuff! you can obviously tell! The shop keepers think they know it all! LOL one even tried telling my mum who is very knowledgable about her kupreh types, which kuprah is more expensive! I'd say have a look in southall and try your hardest bargaining! That gets you very far! Clothes here are very expensive though! Good luck!

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

Maybe you should try and figure out a way to order what you want online, or even make a trip to Pakistan. I live in the States and there's a load of Indian/Pakistani stores here, but they're extremely overpriced for something that really isn't worth it. I went to a Pakistani shop here, and I asked the price for a very simple dress - small kaam... nothing much at all. The lady at the shop quoted me $7,000 for it. =/

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

There arn't even any Pakastani stores around me. SIGHHH

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

thanx for the reply hunni! yes i am planning a trip to southall as i type. me my sister and best freind are going to go and check it out. if not then running away from home, im quitting work, packing my bags and getting on the next flight pakistan. lol what shops would you reccomend in southall?

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

Ilford has nice clothes (well I think so anyway), their stuff is a bit more pricey compared to Green Street but the styles are way better. If you do pop down there, shops I'd recommend are: RDC, Dhanak, Ramsha ummm Seasons is okay but they are quite expensive so maybe not. Gul's Style is worth a look, but they are expensive. Ummm....Fusion is not bad too. You'll get more formal wear stuff from these places though, than bridal wear. OOH one more shop, there's a teeny shop called, can't remember the name of it but it's really nice and they have nice outfits which aren't too expensive, will post the name of it when I remember!

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

thank you!! im building a list!!

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

do u build a list? hhhmmmmm

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

agree with u ladies, Brum has got some pretty awful shops, bad designing, poor staff attitude and sky high prices. I've lived here for years and i wouldnt dream of spendig my hard earned cash on outfits from Panache etc. If you like the indian style of kaam and design, you can definitey find what you want but if its the pakistani styling ie long shirts, delicate kaam on good material you will struggle. The only place i could say i've found that type of kaam is at a shop called "Revaaj by khan variety. its located right at the other end of alum rock rd, past all of the main shopping area. They have samples of the kaam and material and order it from the well know shop "khan variety" in Pindi. My mum has always got all of the family outfits from the shop in pindi including my own wedding outfits (many years ago), both of my bhaabees wedding stuff and we get all of our formal wear from them too.
Revaaj i expensive but you are getting the proper pakistani stuff from them. Honestly hun, i would not bother with alum rock or ladypool if you're after pakistani styling

Re: UK Shops Stuck In 2009!

Saloo, have you tried Bradford yet? I am really curious to know how the shops are there?

I remembered the name! Beejees, in Ilford too!
