They don't have the deep-seated emotional hate of Americans as they do of Brits.. capturing Americans won't score anywhere near the same league of points with the domestic audience as capturing some of us would.

just saw it on tv… the sailors were meeting the president infront of the cameras and luking quite happy and relaxed. They are expected to return to UK tomorrow.

Iran planned this. They knew the water was too shallow for the big British destroyer to cover the RIBs and they kidnapped them. This is now twice that Brits have been seized. The next time there will be shooting, and you can bet that some Iranian shipping will have "incidents" with some British boats. The British Navy will make life difficult for Iranian sea traffic. The British know a thing or two about seamanship....
The Americans have really itchy fingers, but have not wanted to provoke an incident. This will give them the cover to be more muscular.

If you think they don't like Americans... you have no idea of the sheer level of paranoia they have about us Brits.
One of my friends back home in England was a Sunni Iranian Kurd who passionately believes, and still continues to believe, that Britain is in fact secretly running world politics using the USA as a puppet!
In recent weeks the BBC has a story on their website of how Iranians view the british hand as being behind all their troubles - something that's really quite hard for people outside Iran to understand.

^^ Well I have been to Iran. Although I went there in 1995.
Most Iranians IMO hate USA more than UK. They think of USA as an aggressive nation run by Jews and controlled by Israel. Where as they think of UK as a slimy and devious nation which pretends to be one thing but in reality is in another.

Jews are protected in Iran because most Iranians are educated people and have a history which is before Islam where as most Arabs are un-educated and thus can be easily brainwashed into racial hatred for Jews which the same is also true of Pakistanis.

i am pakistani but grew up in saudi arabia and then moved to canada
i admit when i lived in pakistan and saudi arabia I had very negative feelings towards Jewish people
but when I came to canada with free media and independent thought, i changed my perception

This event proves once and for all the west can not afford to give President of Iran any chance of media publicity. It is quite apparent that he is a great manipulator of media. The sailors went for no trial or tribulations, so why did Iran cried so much about international waters?
Ahmedinijad just dug himself a hole with this event, even the Iranian media are not buying the release as they believe that their pride is wounded. You do not play politics with other country's soldiers and defiantly not try to act as an angel when your country is in misery. Appearing as an angel in front of camera does not mean that democracy will happen in Iran anytime soon or all the dissenters will be freed.

if resolved then the muslim world will not have anything against any jews. that is the core objective for muslims regarding the ME issue.
if however israelli and western jews feel that overpowering is the best strategy then this will gain 'some' support from jews living elsewhere. allegations of spies, mistreatment, prejudice will not be far behind the shadow of jewish communities worldwide and a level of threat will remain towards jews everywhere. choose wisely as technology is not as good a protector as goodwill.
This argument is a slippery slope. If one uses this as an excuse then others can say that because some Muslims are using violence against the west and Israel, the allegations of spies, mistreatment, prejudice will not be far behind the shadow of muslim communities worldwide and a level of threat will remain towards muslims everywhere.
