UK sailors captured at gunpoint

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

The lies of Blair exposed as the sailors admitted on Sky TV not state run Iranian television that part of their mission was to spy.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

Spy? Asking fishermen if they know anything? That is certainly stretching the definition of "spying".

If they were infiltrating operatives ashore, or dragging an antenna array, then they would be spying. "Gathering Intelligence" by asking dhow operators if they know anything is hardly spying.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

They in no way said their mission was 'to spy'.

But to accuse Blair of lying while supporting Iran is prerposterous.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

Then I take it you don't think these circumstances justify mistreatment and prejudice - for Jews or Muslims?

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

The interview was done before they were captured and it was with the guy who got captured. Wasn't trasmitted before because of the negotiation going on. Spying was the word he used, but than what does he know, he should have consulted the GS genius on spying.

Bush and Blair never lie, reference the WMD's. Get real.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

the circumstances have been created for mistreatment and prejudice for muslims and jews. once in this position from a security prospective of any particular country suspicion has to be cast. resolve the core symbolised issues for real harmony and trust.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

No, he said they were ‘gathering intelligence’, like any military vessel would do in waters it is patrolling.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

Seminole i love it when you are so understanding and accomodating, try to put yourselves in Iranians shoe, you might have reverse feelings then. Seriously!

:D

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

OG...You live in a glass house...And everybody can see what's inside Guantanamo...As an Americanist, you should be the last person to ask for justifications...Can you justify a 8 year old or 87 year old man in Guantanamo? Or those youths from Britain whose story is captured in Road to Guantanamo?

Just this should suffice...

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

darfur is another glass house :(

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

“I share the outrage expressed in the British press over the treatment of our naval personnel accused by Iran of illegally entering their waters. It is a disgrace. We would never dream of treating captives like this - allowing them to smoke cigarettes, for example, even though it has been proven that smoking kills. And as for compelling poor servicewoman Faye Turney to wear a black headscarf, and then allowing the picture to be posted around the world - have the Iranians no concept of civilised behaviour? For God’s sake, what’s wrong with putting a bag over her head? That’s what we do with the Muslims we capture: we put bags over their heads, so it’s hard to breathe. Then it’s perfectly acceptable to take photographs of them and circulate them to the press because the captives can’t be recognised and humiliated in the way these unfortunate British service people are.”

British humor still reigns supreme

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

For Sudan...Yep...Maybe the government can do something about it...

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

I read the whole thing…Then read the rote responses from the Americanists above…

Guess the Americanists on this board belong to the civilised world that Terry Jones is talking about…

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

It seems like the whole thing is just for show. That's all it is- a big show of power by the Iranians who are saying "We aren't just going to sit around and be bullied by you." Its all fine. Everything is fine. They didn't do anything anybody else wouldn't have done themselves (except put them on TV, but whatever, that's just how they do it down there- and I suppose its better then not knowing if they're alive or dead). The UK soldiers are saying they were blindfolded and harassed but I'll bet the same kind of thing happens when the US or the UK take prisoners themselves.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

peer saab, learn from the american govt. stop being so self-critical.

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

You guys have to read this Americanist’s column in New York Post…

http://www.nypost.com/seven/04062007/postopinion/opedcolumnists/goody_bagful_of_dishonor_opedcolumnists_ralph_peters.htm

April 6, 2007 – IT WAS a fitting image of the 14 wimps and a sob sister arriving back in the United Kingdom yesterday: skulking away with pink goody bags in hand. The color was no accident - although yellow would’ve been more appropriate.
The released hostages weren’t allowed to make any more statements. Apparently, the Blair government feared they’d repeat their lavish praise of their Iranian captors.
Look, we’re all glad they’re home safe, if not necessarily sound. But why on earth is Britain, the land of the legendary stiff upper lip, celebrating cowards who clambered over one another to shame their country?
Wouldn’t the Brits do better to make a fuss over the many soldiers of the queen who’ve served bravely in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why break out the cakes and ale for officers who enthusiastically briefed Iranian propaganda for the TV cameras and who let their subordinates behave as if the Revolutionary Guards were their best pals?

What this American is saying, that you cannot say anything good about someone that America considers its enemy or future enemy…If you do, you’ll be labelled as these guys are…

They say there is freedom of press in the USA…Why wouldn’t there be…Everyone says the exact same thing…

Just read his column…He can;t stand these soldiers saying something good about Iran and his fury is emanating from his words in the column…This literally made me laugh as I read it today…Americanists can’t stand criticism about themselves and can’t stand praise for those they dislike…Truth hurts them so badly it’s not even funny…

This is the exact same case that happened with Jill Carroll…When she was captured, she was the darling of the media…Everyone was so concerned, so empathetic sending this and that…Then when she came back and praised her kidnappers, the Americanists started to hate her as to she should have been decapitated, shot, hanged, left to die and she even received death threats…

But now that her memoirs of her events will be published (Written for her by some else despite her being a writer herself), and it’s a known fact that her captors will be portrayed as bad guys in it, everything’s all hunky dory…

What a bunch of cry baby bullies these Americans are…Pffft!

Re: UK sailors captured at gunpoint

i know right!
