UK Chicks

Re: UK Chicks

And what the good doctor said above my post. Thats why he is at higher pay grade.

People earning minimum wage work 60 plus hrs per week. And don't have energy to cook even if they have access to a good quality grocery store.

As the doc said junk food (and cigarettes and alcohol) are advertised with high intensity in poor neighborhoods education plays a factor too.

When playing field not leblvel u will find lower education levels in por neighborhoods

Troll , more then one in one thread :mudhosh:

Re: UK Chicks

It’s a holistic approach that you need to take to reduce obesity - you need physicians, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists. All that will only come if you recognize it as a problem, which no one here seems to do.

With that attitude, you seem to be be advocating bed rest for an obese patient and any movement will cause them severe respiratory and muscle and back problems.

There are so many low-impact exercises for people with obesity and with the help of nutrionists, you can guide them to a healthier lifestyle.

By the looks of it, it seems the entire population consists entirely of single parents, clinically depressed people, impoverished people and grocery stores selling real foods have been replaced by McDonald’s and Burger Kings. There’s a global water shortage so an increase in soda and not to mention, everyone’s DNA has somehow mutated to contain this obesity gene.

Re: UK Chicks

The "don't have energy to cook" is a terrible excuse. It's about balance and discipline in life. I don't have the time to cook but hardly eat fast food because it takes less than 10 minutes to fix something healthy.

Re: UK Chicks

With respect, everything is not about you. Maybe you should try living in the shoes of someone really poor before being dismissing valid factors as terrible excuse.

It does make you a bad person. You are body shaming people which is abhorrent - it is the same thing as shaming someone for being too skinny, for being less smart, having small boobs etc. Because of people like you, fat shaming put people constantly on guard about their appearance. Everyone knows that being fat is not healthy but calling them out doesn’t help and it only shows your own bias against fat people. And frankly, calling them fat is none of your business.

And FYI its not poor lifestyle choice always. Lack of diet and exercise are only two of the many factors that influence weight. Genetic predisposition, pregnancy, depression, poor economic conditions and hence buying less healthy food (cuz its cheaper) all contributes to this.

Re: UK Chicks

Is pretty ironic I was just watching a documentary on the 50 healthiest diets in the world, for each country. Shockingly UK was high on that list, despite the high amount of pork red meat and processed foods....whereas most studies have had contradictory results. And before anyone accuses me of bashing UK, America was also on that list which I think is a huge joke. An entertaining documentary though.

Re: UK Chicks

Oh yea…what specific experience with depression and pregnancy leads you to make the above comments? Have you ever been sevenely depressed to the point where you needed professional help? Have you ever been so depressed and hated yourself so much that you attempted suicide or resorted to cutting yourself? Have you ever been pregnant and tried losing that weight after having a baby?

Can it be done? Sure. But unless you’ve done it yourself personally, you have no idea how difficult it is and you have no idea what others are going through. When you see a fat person on the street, don’t assume that you know what they’ve been through in the life and what they’re going through currently.

No but you definitely need to be educated on how to practice humility and compassion. But oh well…one can lead a horse to water and can’t force the horse to drink it. :hinna:

Re: UK Chicks

Aww, thanks so much for the invaluable advice. Let’s all be compassionate and let people seek comfort in fast food to fight their battles. While we are at it, let’s allow them smoke too and drink too and maybe indulge in some recreational drugs because of what they’re going through. Why bother encouraging them to adopt healthy lifestyles when we are all genetically programmed to be obese.

Re: UK Chicks

I wasn't giving you advice. It was simply an observation on what your education is lacking.

1) There's nothing to "allow" here. If an adult wants to smoke, drink, or do illegal drugs, there's not much anything can do to stop that. And if a person is really obese b/c of their eatings habits, then no one can force them to change their habit if they don't want to change. On the flip side, judging a person b/c of their weight without knowing details about their past/current situation does a lot more damage and doesn't lead to anything positive.

2) It all comes down to upbringing. To a large extent....we all are products of what we were exposed to starting from birth and what values/habits our parents helped instill within us. This thread is a perfect example of that. Many parents out there did a crappy job at showing kids who to lead a healthy lifestyle. On the flip side, there is no doubt that some parents did an outstanding job at teaching their kids how to achieve that perfect body......yet completely failed at making sure they learn basic personality traits like respect, open-mindedness, humility, kindness etc.

Re: UK Chicks

I just saw this article and thought it was an appropriate fit for this thread. This is a perfect example of if its a situation where the overweight person’s weight depends on their lifestyle, the only way change will happen is when THEY have a “wake-up moment”. Even then, its not easy and that daily struggle never ends. Fat-shaming everyone out there and assuming every overweight/obese person is fat for the same reason is ridiculous.

Ironically the article also shows how you can never make everyone happy. I have no doubt this woman got judged and came across rude/insensitive people when she was overweight. And yet when she started losing weight, even then people started giving her a hard time about it! Just goes to show that judgmental people will always find something got pick on.

Re: UK Chicks

Still riding your sanctimonious high horse?
Funny how you not only know about everyone’s personalities but also that their parents “completely failed” :rotfl:
You don’t know me in person. Yes, I have strong views on a healthy lifestyle and find it sad to see people compromising their health and wish they’d make changes because that would benefit them, not me. That doesn’t mean I treat those people any differently based on their sizes. I wouldn’t have gotten this far in my life if I didn’t possess the basic personality traits.

Clearly, you people here consider encouraging a healthy lifestyle blasphemous and feel the need to resort to attacks on individual posters and their parents so no point in me wasting my time.

Re: UK Chicks

:omg: Oh the irony of this statement.

Well good…glad to know you’re so skilled at faking compassion/respect. :k:

Re: UK Chicks

And what experience did other posters have in here that made them post such comments? Were they been through depression, pregnancy & all other problems they mentioned fatties go through? Going by their posts, it seems like they have experienced fattness hence making such posts.

You’re spot on Bruv.

Re: UK Chicks

Body shaming...such a profound idea...why didn't we think of that before?

Tell me OP...how many peoples' tubelights you've turned on with that approach? I'm curious to know if you or your supporters have ever had the guts to go upto a "fat" person and express themselves like this? Or is it just on an anonymous online forum where you're sooo brave and open about your views? How many people you've actually helped? Any stats that show body shaming being an effective way to treat obesity?

Re: UK Chicks

I am a british born Pakistani. Being a teenager 17 years ago like I was , this was not the case. NOW however, this is true, the new generation is confused, corrupt and has lost most of the values that we had. I would love to be in denial, but I have to face the facts. The 'now' teenagers are awful.

Re: UK Chicks

Just because you're a certain size doesn't mean you're healthy. Height and body build all factors in too. So someone might be a size 6 but actually underweight which has just as many problems as being overweight. And someone might be a size 12 but for that individual that is the perfect size, a healthy size to be.
Also having a bit of a tummy does not make you fat. After pregnancy especially your body does not spring back into shape lol. You get healthy again, yes, but having a baby stretch your skin out means you'll probably never have a flat stomach again. And having a flat stomach isn't even a sign of healthiness so its irrelevant to use it as a measure of how healthy someone is.
Eat healthy, do some exercise. If you have a chip butty now and then its not the end of the world.

And obese people have psychological issues which contribute to their condition. Yes they can get over it but its extremely difficult. The mind is an extremely complicated thing. Its not just a matter of "Oh I'm fat better lose weight now.". A health professional would know that.
