I have actually read about this case before. The relevant laws in this case were about assisted suicide. There is a case to be made that someone who is suicidal is not able to provide legal consent due to their mental state. There are laws that protect people who are a danger to themselves by putting them in mental institutions and giving them drugs. While I don't necessarily favor this approach, I think it's legally acceptable.

Now we come to gay rights. There is no reason to suspect that a lifelong gay person is suffering from the kind of temporary lapse in judgement a suicidal person may be experiencing. Also, unlike assisted suicide, no party is at risk of life or limb in a gay relationship. I'll preemptively stop you from suggesting gay sexual activity is harmful due to the possible transmission of HIV. The same argument is applicable to regular sexual activity. Since they are the same in this regard, we can't treat one differently.

I think it's possible to recognize the rights of sane, consenting adults, while still protecting minors and those that have diminished mental capacity.

Also, I don't understand the distinction you're drawing up about gay activity being acceptable in private settings and still being illegal. Isn't that contradictory? Do you mean you support laws against public displays of affection? I don't mind those as long as they are applied consistently between straight and gay people and are reasonable overall.

You trying to connect totally unrelated things:
1) Homosexuality is not a disease.
2) Two consenting adults should be allowed to love/married/do whoever/whatever they want to do as long as no one else is harmed.
3) Crazy people exist everywhere (gay or straight) & that does not mean society should condone their actions whatever they maybe.

My personal opinion on the issue is very simple:

1) Homosexuality is strictly forbidden in Islam
2) Pakistan is per constitution an Islamic country.

Hence, Pakistan must not legalize homosexuality in our country.
And Pakistan must refuse any kind of financial aid, with or without conditions from the US and for that matter from any other country.

Instead we must learn to live within our means.

I agree with the self reliance part. Pakistan shouldn't be dependent on foreign aid.

That said, would you be for putting liars in jail? How about people who don't pray five times a day? Both those things are forbidden in Islam. Also, I'm pretty sure the "there is no compulsion in religion" is an accepted part of the Islamic religion.

Show me where in the Quran it says that Muslims should use governments to enforce adherence to the Quran.

There really is no justification for religion being involved with governance. Infusion of religion to government has a very long history of ending badly.

Look the topic is about U.S. forcing homosexuality on other nations by tying aid to it. And I have given my personal opinion about that. Do not take the aid, period!

Why do you have to assume that if someone is not favoring the implementation of laws which are against the very basic teachings of Islam, he/she automatically is asking to implement outright Sharia in the country?
Why do you think that we have to belong to one extreme or the other? Why can't we be somewhere in the "golden middle"? Hope you have heard about it.

If you want to discuss Islam as religion please contact a scholar and I am not the one.

By same coin, I can ask you how about respecting human rights of other less developed nation by not imposing wars and killing them in hundreds of thousands for their resources?

Someone who claims to have the moral duty for being champions of human rights should practice before preach. U.S. is anyway full of contradiction throughout its modern history.

They would e.g. run stories of protests in Russia for days on all major headlines and how they are being arrested and treated, whereas in their own country at the same time they are arresting protestors left and right, firing rubber bullets on them, using pepper spray and God know what.

I do not think homosexuality has that much imprtance for U.S. anyway, it is just another way to humiliate Muslim nations.

It is amazing how U.S. is very successful to manipulate people who called themselves enlightened, LOL.

Have you ever met a homosexual Pakistani - who also thinks he's Muslim? I know quite a few who are close friends of mine.

There are millions more like them in Pakistan (assuming 3-4% homosexuals in a population). Probably not in the next decade, but hopefully in the next 5 decades homosexuality might be legal in Pakistan. And people will realize that its not that big a deal really.

I mean its really not contagious, and you can't convert people to homosexuality. The title of the thread is misleading - promote homosexuality - does not mean make more people homosexual - just making the lives of those who are homosexual a little easier - i.e. not being stoned to death on being discovered.

Aid is poison though - least because the US will add homosexual rights to the laundry list of aid strings.

Not gonna happen for atleast 100 years. Pakistan is only going to get more and more religious in the future. This is Pakistan we are talking about. I don't have a problem with homosexuality as it doesn't concern me but imagine Pakistan legalizing it. It be a revolution in the Muslim World and a very huge and bold step.
Unfortunately this wont happen as Pakistan is just toooooo religious and extremly conservative. This is the kind of sht that comes with involving religion with the state.

I'm not sure about this quote from you. Are Pakistani's "extremely religious" ? - I'd personally say; Pakistani's are more on the spiritual side, than religious side.

I cannot even imagine why someone would chose homosexuality given how great and fulfilling heterosexuality is. The fact that there are so many millions of homosexuals exist therefore indicates it is not a choice but something that happens in nature.

Anything that happens in nature cannot be prohibited by making laws.

Therefore any law whether it comes from islamic or other sources is basically unnatural and therefore wrong and inhuman.

Islamic rule has been in place for over 1000 years, how you can say no rules in quran and the hadiths.

"O you who believe, obey Allaah and obey His Messenger, and the people in authority among you. And if you dispute over anything, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger if you really believe in Allaah and the Last Day, that is best in terms of consequences." (4:59)

'And take whatever the Messenger has brought to you and refrain from whatever he has forbidden you.'' [Al-Hashr, 59:7]

almost all muslim Countries including India has more males then females, if the gender ratio is not maintained. coming years it will be on rise, countries in blue have more males then females and countries in green have both same number and in pink has more females,

Followers of islam have no right to kill any muslim like that. Every case has to be judged in a court in an islamic state which is not existing at the moment.

Actually, how about explaining what exactly is disgusting?

It is surprising that in this forum, any semblance of a "personal attack" can result in a ban or infractions. But call a whole set of peoples' orientation disgustinig, the cheering squad gets right behind the statement.

The US government has equated homosexuality with bestiality. But I guess they are right… :rolleyes:
