As for the situation, Obama might have acted earlier but he needs the asheerbad of the AIPAC and their allies with 'pubs breathing down his neck. There is no clear winner for israel as assad lets hezbollah resupply and a rebel win might just be a takeover of alqaeda like how mullahs took over and pushed aside liberals / communists in the iranian revolution in the past. At least with assad, there are no terrorist attacks against israel bar hezbollah and israel can go bomb at will any naughty syrian activity. Israel would of course be able to do that in a post-Assad syria as well but it would be like an unstable libya and would require more vigilence on israel's part.
This war is destabilizing the whole muslim world and dividing them on sectarian grounds. Its better to bring this war to conclusion asap, as prolongation of conflict would further destabilize the region.

Russia (and China) won't allow any progress in the security council so forget any "UN forces" on any borders. It was NATO that acted under the general UN authority in Libya and that got Russia pissed.
In that case which country in the world can be acted against? or should I say, what the sh!t is UN for?

I don't want them to do anything. USA and the West should not get involved in Syria. No missiles, no ground troops, no no fly zones, nothing.
If they get involved it will give the conspiracy mongers and people who hate the USA more ammunition that USA is invading another peaceful Muslim country.
Its time for USA to withdraw from his hornet's nest known as the Middle East.

To be honest, I am disappointed with Erdogan's role for his islamist bruhaha as Turkey should have taken the lead with the moderate and secular forces unlike letting qatar and saudia dictator their wahabbi agenda that has assad on the winning side at least for this moment in time. Even if the rebels win, the alqaeda wahabbi element pretty much insures a protracted war as neither the shiites (alawi non alawi) and minorities like christians, druze? nor the kurds would ever want to live in wahabbi state.

Syria is not planning to attack america, while al-qaeda has attacked america and it allegedly is sitting in yemen, pakistan etc plotting the next move. This is the worst argument that you can make.

I started off thinking that there would be no US direct involvement in Syria, then I thought that even if the US fired a few cruise missiles it would be just a half hearted face saving attempt, but now I am thinking that if these madmen in control of the US (not really mad but just traitors for putting their own interest before the country) have not had enough of wars and are really serious about attempting to change the regime in Syria then how would Iran and Russia respond to it? If the US and Israel are able to install their puppet government in Syria than that could really change the strategic scenario in the whole region. The loss of Syria would not go down well. It would be a huge triumph for Israel.

Could it be that its the Iraq fiasco repeating itself? Russia has already warned the US about any missile strikes on Syria. I don't think other players in the broader region i.e. Iran and China are going to sit back and let US take unilateral action. The Syrian conflict appears to already have hit a stalemate.

I did not expect the Syrian war to split the whole muslim world on sectarian lines. Go through the posts and tweets of people and judging by their names one can easily judge on which side they'd be. Dangerous indeed, and who ever was the planner of this conflict, a job well done I must say.

I think there are many people who are fooled into thinking this is some sort of glorious Islamic jihad, it really isn't. It's one group of leaders exploitting the populace to attack another sectarian group. So very sad.
