I can see with other people's kids but with your own kids ? That is interesting.
How do you discipline them ? I guess it is possible. :)
Yeah jaan ke bohut afsos hua ke aap ke buzurgon ne hameshaa aap ko tu taRaak ker ke bulaaya hai

My dad uses aap with other people's kids too. I don't remember him disciplining us about it. I do recall my mom telling us to use aap for everyone. My mom used to order Urdu books to teach us the language on weekends and holidays. And some of the stories dealt with adab and maybe during those times she also mentioned using aap, as in connection to the lesson. Not sure, have a hazy memory, but I do remember Mom being the one to emphasize and chide for using aap.

For example if my little self goes upto my dad and pulls a baby face and says 'baba bhook lagi hai' and my father would politely reply as *"tou mera beta aapne khana kyoon nahi kahya jab sab kha rahe they".
But you are right, my dad's indeed a very patient and loving father. My grandmother to this day doesn't understand that how a man so composed yet *barop can have such "aflatoon" kids.

I am sure there is a place between ‘aap janaab’ and ‘tu taRaak’. ![]()

Oh no, even though my father is quite laid back when's he's at home and affectionate with his children, but trust me, his 'no' meant 'no'. My mother would spend the entire day telling us not do something, and we'd somehow still manage to do the opposite of her order. But if my father said 'no' to something with that look in his eyes and certain sternness in his voice, we would instantly realize that daddy means business.
Re: Tum vs Aap
That’s a blessing. You are lucky. :k:
Re: Tum vs Aap
It is a blessing to have parent (s) in your life, and it really shakes the foundation of your soul when you realise that you can only have these people for so long in your life.

Oh KKF, this is such a heartbreaking post. I am very sorry to hear about that.
You will get chance to see them and take care of them in jannat, inshAllah. You probably don't know how close to Allah talah you are. Prophet Muhammad pbuh also lost his parents and there's a message in his life for all us.
Now cheer up. Don't be sad.
