Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

I saw a new OBGYN who finally diagnosed me with PCOS. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last year to 1.5 years. The biggest issue was with my periods which were pretty irregular for the last couple of years. I talked and visited at least 2 doctors before my current OBGYN and all they would do would be blood work. The blood work came back fine and all they would tell me would be to lose weight. Thank god I found a doctor that finally addressed the problem. It is so annoying going to one doctor to the other where they would never really address the problem. Had I been diagnosed 2 years earlier, I could have addressed this problem as soon as I found out. I'm wondering what are the chances of conceiving naturally with PCOS. What type of medications do you take to control the hormones? My doctor said most likely shell prescribe me Clomid to help me ovulate more. How long did it take to conceive with having PCOS. Im going to have an ultrasound after my next menstrual cycle. Please keep me in your prayers.

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

@**Nata**sh90 , i wonder why did not ur doctor do a trans vaginal ultrasound to check ur internal system. coz mostly doctors do it even just on ur first visit to check if there is any problem with ovaries, uterus etc before prescribing any medicine . anyhow, i am also patient of PCOs. and i have also taken lezra . yeah these medicines induce ovulation . but u have to control ur diet to regulate ur hormones like stop eating fried stuff, reduce roti/bread/rice intake, avoid sugar as much as possible. and do walk or exercise on daily basis.
even ur periods will be regular after diet control and weight loss obviously

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

@HSN05 I have no idea why the doctors before this one never did a transvaginal ultrasound. I was never prescribed any medication to help me regulate my periods though even before I was married. Healthcare really is tossup even in the US. I exercise pretty regularly like 5-6 days a week but I think the key is to regulate my food intake. THanks for the tip about the rice and roti, sugar etc. I'm assuming they'll give me medication to help me ovaulate more but nothing for the hormones? Im having a transvaginal ultra sound after my next menstraul cycle and had blood work done yesterday. Thanks for the help @HSNO5

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

one more thing to regulate hormones, increase water intake
i am also poor at it:(

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

Hi Ladies .. I started my period this morning :( .. like usual been so upset .. cried sooooooo much .. I've had an awful week at work .. I've cried nearly everyday .. everything is getting to me .. it's like its all too much ..

Ive had 5 rounds of clomid with no luck! .. the 5th month I started taking 100mg .. I also had a scan showing I had good follicles on my left side which is my blocked tube ... my day 21 blood test results level were 94.0 .. which are meant to be quite high right?? .. I must have ovulated? I don't know ..

I am thinking to just start taking the 6th and final round of clomid from my day 2 .. I'm thinking if my follicles were on my left side last month maybe this month they'll be on the right side?? is that right?? please help ..

pleeeeease keep me in your prayers ... my last month of clomid starts tomorrow .. I'm soooo scared .. I had such high hopes from this clomid

No improvement in my husband s reports after 3 months of medications :/ :(

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

An update: My obgyn has ruled out PCOS because my hormone levels are all within range and there is no physical obstruction (no uterine polyps, cysts, blocked tubes etc). The only thing I noticed which my doc noticed was increasing thyroid levels. Although, my level that I am right now is still under the max, it is disturbing because the level keeps increasing every year. She put me on Synthroid but before I take it I want, I want to talk to a reproductive endocrinologist and also wait until my husband gets his test results. I just wish getting pregnant was easier. I'm praying for all my girls who are ttc..iA our prayers will be answered soon.

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

Another Month and no news, I was honestly thinking whether to start meds but as I am ovulating have decided to give myself until Ramadhan and then start IVF etc. I sincerely believe that it will happen naturally if I try my best, but I have known myself to be soo niave. Cant believe this is soo hard to accept.

I know I am blessed to have a supportive hubby and also be living in a place where it is relatively easy to obtain assistance. I know once I am over the hurdle I would love to support people financially who can't go through IVF due to financial reasons, but I need to get over this hurdle first.

Please God listen to our prayers, I feel like i wanna rip some things to shreds when I see a particular co worker who had an abortion a few years back and now she has a healthy baby, it doesnt seem fair.

Lots of prayer to all those that are involved.

@zash01 dear wats ur issue and how long u r trying????

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

A doctor had recommended "Verona" herbal medicine (by Herbion) along with "Evion "Vitamen E capsules, for at least 20-40 days. I've heard good news about a couple where husband sperm had lot of issues, specially motility. Weight loss exercise was also recommended to husband to lose fat/weight around "that" area.
Verona was around Rs.300 per small container so not much expensive. It's got no side effects, according to the doctor who recommended it to that couple. I'm not sure if these are available outside Pak. It's available in Pak easily.

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

I am incredibly frustrated and upset :( hubby and I have been ttc for the past 6 months with no luck. 10 days ago, on the date which my period should arrive, I only experienced very mild brown spotting for 1.5 days- after that, nothing (usually I have red, heavy bleeding lasting 5 days). 2 days ago I visited the doctor who did a urine test which came out negative- she said no problem, it could just be too early to test and advised me to have a blood test today while I did but that has ALSO come back negative :( I have read on the internet that it could still be too early to test but I was soo sure this time :( anyway, I guess I will wait until next month and see whether or not Aunt Flo arrives and if not then re-test....this is by far the most frustrating thing ever I hate the waiting !!!!!

Re: Trying to Conceive (The highs and lows)

Vit C - Strawberries, Oranges
Vit E - Hazelnut
Selenium - Garlic, Shrimp
L-Arginineis - Beef
L-Carnitine - Beef
Lycopene - Tomatoes, watermelon, pink grapefruit, pink guava, papaya, and red bell pepper

Drink lots of water. Dehydration is major cause of poor sperm production.

Should do:
Exercise
Enough rest
Ejaculating less often. Maintain a gap of three days between ejaculations.
Lose any excess weight
Early morning/afternoon ejaculation. It is believed that sperm levels are often highest in the morning, due to the peak testosteron level in the blood.

Should not do:
Smoking
Tight underpants
Too frequent ejaculation

Your husband urologist can help you more than us. But above are best guidelines one may follow in balance lifestyle.
