TRANSFER DATA TO NEW LAPTOP

ASSALAMO ALAYKUM,

I need help with something…I recently did laptop exchange I wanna transfer data on hardware from my old laptop to the new one!

and i have to return my old laptop to DELL asap…but i m stuck with this i dunno how to do that
can someone please help me!

  1. use external hard disk
  2. flash disk
  3. network
  4. burn dvd/cd or if u have only documents just email them to your self ... then download them on new laptop

but my old laptop doesnt work...i cant transfer data..i will need to remove the harddisk physically and do something with it ... but dunno how?

What's the problem with your older laptop? If it's something with HD then you might not be able to transfer data. Take the HD out of the old laptop and connect it to the newer one.

my old laptop .......hmm i cant doanything...nothing on screen...
so if i remove the HD from old laptop how can i connect it to new one?

thats what i m nt sure of:S

if it "doesnt work" , then you need something called USB TRANSFER KIT. Its a small USB circuit board that connects to laptop hard drives, and uses USB port to connect those hard drives. you also need a power adaptor with a molex (or sata) connector so you can power up the hard drive.

basically, u need to have that kit, otherwise some other way of taking out that old hard drive and connecting it to something/somewhere and transferring data over.

...can i go to futureshop or anyother electronic shop to get this done....obviously i dont hav this kit...u mentioned...:S... i recently lost my usb otherwise i wouldnt have cared so i dont wanna loose the info saved on my old laptop...but this seems hard...:S

Why dont you buy a Sata or IDE Controller with USB and you are all set, the controller will have HDD on one side and USB on the other. Then you can plug this USB into the new Laptop and if HDD is OK, then it will appear in my computer as a new drive.
