So let me get this straight: iraqis go from being tortured and treated inhumanely by saddam to being tortured and treated inhumanely by the Americans.
Iraqis are ultimately suffering.

Guess what they are doing to alleviate this scandal? They are appointing someone who served at Guantanamo bay to oversee the detainee operations in Iraq.

I'm afriad you can't put this down to a few bad apples. There have been too many similar incidents. It appears OG, that this is what you stand for and the way you do things.

When the same is said to us referring to the events due to extremists then we cry foul, yet we can dish it out.
is this a problem, sure is
is thing a systametic planned approach with buy in of military leadership - i dont think so.
should this be completely investigated and the perps slammed with heavy punishments yes.. to show that yahoos will not be tolerated and that this is not a standard modu soperendi.
The investigation needs to be expanded and human rights orgs able to monitor this.

Well I guess yes, without proper training and supervision this type of atrocity was bound to occur. I think one of the accused said as much in his defence. To suggest that this is not symptomatic of a cruel and devastating invasion is to bury your head in the sand.
The whole shock and awe campaign and punitive measures across Iraq dehumanized the Iraqis and opened the gate to such horror. Let's keep this in the picture.
The problem here is not a lack of training, but a lack of standards. Soldiers are trained on the law of war at least once a year and quite thoroughly again before entering theater. The problem is, just like giving dumb kids As they don't deserve, promoting and tolerating slackasses who don't know their job. These b-stards (why can't I say that? it's a good word for people like this) thought because they were in a war that it called for extraordinary circumstances.. they thought they knew better than their training taught them and they were very wrong. I vote disembowelment on account of felonious stupidity.
This has nothing to do with training, standards, supervision or anything else. They were just friggin’ idiots. Stupid friggin’ toothless backwater idiots.
String them all up, court marshal their superiors, and send one hell of a message to the rest of the morons that don’t have their s**t wrapped tight…
And to then take pictures, my God, what were they thinking?
![]()
I suppose thats one way the 'liberators can teach the 'terrorists' a lesson....by makin 'em do sick sexual stuff and making your porn fantasies come to life.
This is true and so disrespectful of muslims/iraqis, you really have to be completely stupid to do something like this, gives “be all that you can be” a whole new meaning…
No no no this is all photoshop this is all photoshop people..come on…i mean think about it…you guys are idiots ![]()
And to then take pictures, my God, what were they thinking?
hahahaahahah speaks a lot about your character ohioguy, if it wasn't on American tv its all good.
Spot on. :k: All the stories of torture in Guantanomo Bay, Afghanistan, and elsewhere have all been rubbished by the American war mongers, becuase they were not aired in such graphic detail on US TV.
But if the US administration was really serious about tackling American torture of the Iraqi people, they would not be appointing someone like Maj. Gen. Geoffrey D. Miller to take took over the detention facilities in Iraq as deputy commander for detainee operations. He was previously looking after the same in Guantanamo Bay…
"hahahaahahah speaks a lot about your character ohioguy, if it wasn't on American tv its all good."
No, not at all. The military indicted and suspended these guys weeks ago. No, I am utterly amazed at the complete sense of ignorance. Not only were they so stupid to do things that ANYONE knows is wrong, they were stupid enough to photograph themselves doing it. Just unbelievably stupid.
Hang 'em high....
Not only do I feel bad for the people that we did this too, but the idiots who did it have dishonored a lot of good people, and given propaganda to the enemy.
sorry, but I am just pi$$ed.
The treatment of Iraqi prisoners was horrendous and Americans here recognize that without any handwringing.

Have you seen how quickly all the Americans are saying that this is a minority and not representative of their army which is professional in nature. Well they dont want us to stereotype their army, yet every time a guy who happens to be a muslim commits a crime it is Islamic terrorists, Islamic extremists ets. All muslims are balmed in one fell swoop. If they are going to dish it, they should be able to take it as well.
The funniest thing in all this is 'Frederick'. He wasn't taught how to treat these..no codes, no rules...
He's taking the bloody piss. Anyone with half a braincell would know what was being done was not right ( had they not known it was wrong which i doubt ). If you can jump up and down and say i wasn't taught Geneva Conventions then you seem to be familiar with the fact that there are rules to adhere to...playing games with people...disgusting.
ehsan,
The difference here is that the professionals in the US Military will drop a ton of bricks on the people who dishonored the rest of the services. If you looked at Kimmett, the General in Iraq talking about these incidents, he was barely under control. He was not simply debating some point with the press, he was absloutely furious. Every military guy I know is utterly furious about htis, as they all feel tainted by the incident.
The military will not give some lame line about "root causes", they will crush the people who brought this problem on them... They will insist on personal and professional accountability. Heads will roll.....

Well some people need to be taught right from wrong, the Bush administration is no role model to these retards, breaking laws and conventions is no biggie either the whole war is illegal remember.
