It is not hypocricy. I am steadfast in the belief that the culprtis who did this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

No wonder there is a widely spread revolt against Americans in Iraq.Imagine how mnay innocent civilians were killed by these white trash soldiers..I'm sure there are a lot more. This is just one case...
Nice way of winning Iraqi ppl's heart!
Now some members of the British Army have their turn:
[quote]
The British Army was at the centre of new torture allegations last night after pictures showed an Iraqi prisoner being battered with rifle butts, threatened with execution and urinated on by British soldiers. The shocking images drew immediate condemnation from the prime minister and led the Ministry of Defence to launch an investigation.
The prisoner - thought to have been a thief - had his jaw broken and his teeth smashed during an eight-hour ordeal after being arrested near the southern Iraqi city of Basra.
Bleeding and vomiting, he was eventually driven away from the army camp, still hooded, and thrown off the back of a moving vehicle. He was not charged with an offence and *it is not known whether he lived or died.

This is so revolting, there are no words to describe this. The more i learn of the world, the more dissatisfied i become with it. It's absolutely sickening.
It would be absol. bull****, if they say the higher generals (the ones present in Iraq) were unaware of whats goin on in the jail...
The US army is responsible for these acts...but they would never take the blame. These sons of bitches, would just lay the blame on the young soldiers (the ones directly involved)...and the generals would just back off.
Hell...when an Afghani would be filmed on video, for inflicting torture on anyone...the blame would be put on the entire Taliban government.
So much for...giving peice to the region, and freeing them of oppression.
This is the true nature of these *******s...
Shouldnt this be in World Affairs? Three seperate threads exist on this topic, even in the image gallery.
Some of this just makes you want to cry, particularly some of the following extracts from the diary of American Staff Sergeant Ivan “Chip” Frederick, the one who has claimed (on the CBS interview with Dan Rather) that he was not informed of the rules and regulations for running Abu Ghraib prison.
‘I asked for help and warned of this but nobody would listen’]('I asked for help and warned of this but nobody would listen' | World news | The Guardian), The Guardian, 1 May 2004
…] "MI [military intelligence] has also instructed us to place a prisoner in an isolation cell with little or no clothes, no toilet or running water, no ventilation or window for as much as three days.
…] "I was often told to place [the prisoners] in these rooms that were as small as 3ft by 3ft. When I brought this up with the acting BN commander he stated “I don’t care if he has to sleep standing up.”
"Prisoners were forced to sleep in areas not suitable, such as tents that had water in them from rain, only 2 or 3 blankets to shield them from the weather. A prisoner with a clearly visible mental condition was shot with non-lethal rounds for standing near the fence singing when a lesser means of force could have been used."

…] "Back around Nov an OGA prisoner was brought to 1A. They stressed him out so bad that the man passed away. They put his body in a body bag and packed him in ice for approximately 24 hours in the shower in the 1B. The next day the medics came in and put his body on a stretcher, placed a fake IV in his arm and took him away.

Not for the faint-hearted but just to back up what I said earlier, soldiers generally come from the worst areas, at least in Britain so it’s no surprise to me when they get exposed for what they really are…football yobbos in uniform. Not exactly Blackhawk Down is it?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iraqi prisoners faced numerous “sadistic, blatant and wanton criminal abuses” by U.S. soldiers, including sodomy and beatings, according to a U.S. Army report quoted by the New Yorker magazine.
The New Yorker said it had obtained a 53-page, internal U.S. military report into alleged abuses at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad. In an article posted on its Web site Saturday, the magazine said the report had been authorized by Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the top U.S. officer in Iraq, and was completed in February.
The May 10 issue of the magazine goes on sale Monday.
The army report listed abuses such as “breaking chemical lights and pouring the phosphoric liquid on detainees; … beating detainees with a broom handle and a chair; threatening male detainees with rape; allowing a military police guard to stitch the wound of a detainee who was injured after being slammed against the wall in his cell; sodomizing a detainee with a chemical light and perhaps a broom stick.”
Written by Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba, the report said evidence included “detailed witness statements and the discovery of extremely graphic photographic evidence.”
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman declined to comment on the article, but said, “We take all reports of detainee abuse seriously and all allegations are thoroughly investigated.”
Ah yes time to pass the buck to spin masters has come…

Officer Suggests Iraq Jail Abuse Was Encouraged
The point here is that sadly the media in Iraq is so inept at giving the 'real picture' that you will simply never know whats the truth and whats not, its quite easy for anyone to refute this.
^ Exactly. This has been very noticeable. Other than OhioGuy no American supporter wants to talk about it.
I do believe that in general the justice system in the American society is very well established and (hopefully) culprits will pay the price for their crimes. BUT to be honest, during the last couple of years and specially the Americans going to war in Iraq based on the most blatant lies of all, I have lost trust in what their government or military says.
These incidents of torture just show saddam has been replaced by the Amerikkan and British torturers!
So much for liberation and freedom, true colors of the occupiers has been exposed yet again!
