We need to know the full truth and horror about what is being inflicted on our brothers
^ Well its not like this is an isolated incident. Many reports have emerged about ill treatment of prisoners in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay. It seems like this is not an exception to the rule, but is in fact an established modus operandi of the cowardly US forces.
I'm afriad you can't put this down to a few bad apples. There have been too many similar incidents.

That's true, and each and every time the war mongering crowd has made excuses, downplayed or even denied these things have been happening. There are quite a few threads that are proof of the litany of American excuses whenever torture by their military has been exposed...
whereas it is sickening that this happened, and indicative of your average american's attitude towards these prisoners, it is laudable that these criminals were brought to justice, and that this was not brushed under the carpet.
The american occupation force is really foolish they say they are liberating iraq which is an obvious lie as the world is now witnessing
They bombard civillain areas with there so called accurate weapons which has proved to be another bunch of doggie doo doo
and Torture which they use often but in the end only result they will get from this is increasing the Resistance numbers and more GI Joes being killed as a result
The fact remains that the photographs were turned in by a soldier working with these guys. One of these a*h*les is actually a prison guard in Virginia, and he claims that he was never trained by the military. What a jerk. Give a medal to the guys who turned these freaks in...
I hope they make examples of these idiots, not only because they apparently did horrible things, but the fact that these guys are doing these things is outright embarrassing.
It is quite a leap of faith however to assume that similar conditions exist all over. Believe it or not there is a high degree of professionalism and discipline in the military system, and I have a hard time believing that this is a wide spread occurance.
“This month, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey D. Miller took over the U.S.-run detention facilities in Iraq as deputy commander for detainee operations, reporting directly to Sanchez. Miller had previously overseen the detention facility at the naval base at Guantanamo Bay, which holds hundreds of detainees from about 40 countries, many of them from the 2001 war in Afghanistan.”
Actually the soldiers and their pictures were turned in by another soldier…
"American soldiers serving as military police at Abu Ghraib took the pictures. The investigation started when one soldier got them from a friend, and gave them to his commanders. The Army investigated, and issued a scathing report. " http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/30/iraq/main614905.shtml
I live in a big military community, and just read some comments, and talked to some others, and to a man they are shocked and infuriated by this. A couple of guys just got back from Iraq, and they were literally red in the face at the idiots who did this.
Here is what ought to happen:
Investigate all detention centers completely.
Military trials for all involved.
Screw the administrative punshment, these guys deserve jail time if convicted.
Iraqi prisoners should be researched, apologized to and compensated.
Lots of military guys have a big sense of honor, and they are absolutely furious at the guys who did this and the officers who allowed it or ignored it, or were too stupid to realize that it was going on.
I saw these horrible images this morning on the Today news show. As far as I could tell, everyone was completely outraged by this horrible abuse. I, for one, am ashamed of the soldiers' actions.
As if the world does not have a poor enough image of us to begin with, our own dumb -a$$es resort to these barbaric tactics. The ones who did this and the ones in charge of them should not only be stripped of their duties, but also of their dignity - just as they did to these men.
