Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
^ Check my fb albums for wedding pics- you can show the fiance and see if you guys like it enough to go up there. Kings Court were our caterers too- they're really far lol
and let me know if you need any other help- i'd be happy to lend a hand :)
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
I got married at Chandni in 2006- I was one of the first to get married there. I had my heart set on another hall but the price and food at Chandni beat out the other hall. I had 800 guest so price was a major factor.
Laddi Uncle(Owner of Chandni) has been really good to me and it is rare in this industry to find someone that actually delivers what he promised and then some more.
My cousin is getting married at the new Chandni in July.
If your considering Red Rose beware the food is not good.
Royal York is really nice. Went to a Pakistani wedding and the food was nice- Kheer was served in mini martini glasses. tres cute.

Chiavari's have to be rented and you can do that at any venue. They range from $6 to $8 per chair depending on the rental place. Have you seen Le Jardin? Their standard ballroom chair is very similar to a gold chiavari- that was the only venue I saw in the city that offered something like that.
I believe Kings Court rents chiavari's too but I don't remember the price now.
When you've got your venue, lets meet up and I'll walk you through the process :)

Thanks a lot SGC! Yeah you're right Chivari's would cost atleast $5 per chair. I'm not sure if we are okay with paying another $5-$8 on top of the $75 that was quoted by Parkwood/Kings Court (venue rental, tent + food) Still deciding on whether we're going to checkout Parkwoods or not..
We haven't gone to see Le Jardin because we don't want a typical banquet hall setting. I guess that's why we liked Bella Banquets, and they said they can do chivari's for us for $4 - their menu is pretty cheap too so it works out great
We're finally going to see Chandni Gardens today, and I see potential! let's see :)
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like
^ which place are you talking about? lol
talk to Le Jardin, you never know- its wayyy nicer than a typical banquet hall which is why we also went to see it for my brother’s reception this summer. they quoted us $6000 for the venue including everything but minus the catering since we wanted to bring in our own pakistani caterers. we also got them to throw in their really nice linens and napkins in that price.
You should also check out the Grand Banking Hall at One King West- it is STUNNING and very unique. they also cater indian/pakistani cuisine.
one of the girls here just had her wedding there this weekend- maybe ask her in a couple of weeks when she’s back from celebrating? Grand Banking Hall | One King West Hotel & Residence
does bella rent out just the chiavari’s? because $4 is a ridiculously low price for those! the cheapest I’ve found in the city is $6 at Fos Decor.
if it helps, budgets broken down by the following equation really help organise things.
From:
As a general guide-line, allot approximately 50 percent of your budget to the reception (location, food, and beverages). Then allot about
10 percent each to flowers, photography, attire, and music. The final 10 percent goes to stationery, favors, and other details.
this is what i used for my wedding, when i planned my bff’s wedding, and now that i’m planning my brothers and it works really well in that you can easily keep track of how much you have to spend and adjust amounts accordingly.
Oh I was talking abt Parkwood- I thought I quoted mahi but I guess not!
Thanks for the recommendation - I emailed One King West so let’s see what they say
I’ve heard a lot about Le Jardin (mostly nice things), but from what I see in the pictures …it’s really not something we are looking for. It’s not different enough. We are trying to stay away from a typical banquet hall feel. We’re trying to avoid chandeliers, chair covers, big halls… & prefer having our reception at a venue that has beautiful grounds. Definately not interested in anything that’s in a strip plaza or in an industrial area. We want it away from city life!
At one point the FH suggested having it in a farm lol Now, I can imagine a beautiful country wedding on a sunny day…in Cali..but perhaps not in Toronto!
I actually just spoke with Bella Banquets and he said he had misquoted me on the chivari chairs because he spoke with his supplier and they can bring the chairs in for $5.50 (excluding delivery). I am ok with that charge since I ONLY want chivari’s…and will even pay for delivery if I have to. He said if I am booking the venue for sure, his supplier can give a better rate or include delivery in the $5.50 charge. I’m not sure what other chairs Bella rents out.

That's an excellent price for chiavaris for sure! During our venue hunt, I actually called up a few farms just outside the GTA because we really wanted an outdoor wedding too- same as you guys- and there are a few but unfortunately they're working farms and in the summer they're busy with tourists so they weren't too open to renting out to a wedding. A total shame, because a reception in a barn can be SO chic and fun! It sounds like you're leaning towards Bella- did you book them? Have you seen any other places?

SGC - we didn't end up booking Bella because me & the finace are afraid it is a little too rusty lol
Heard anything about Boyd Conservation or Bruce's Mills? Apparently they rent grounds - owned by the TRCA. We're in the process of getting info from them so let's see
Also going to see Bushwood Golf Club in Markham this week- they have a marquee tent for weddings.
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like
^ keep at it! when you find the right one, its totally awesome
I’ve heard about Bruce Mills but not Boyd Conservation. Let me know how it goes there.
Have you seen Deer Creek Golf and Country Club? Its also very pretty. Its in Ajax.
p.s: I know what you mean about Bella lol I was also not impressed with the coordinator there- I was helping a friend with her her son’s aqeeqa and she wasn’t very nice to deal with.
Yes, West River is gorgeous too! But their rooms are pretty standard banquet hall-ish from the inside. Unfortunately, they only allow ceremonies outdoors - or at least thats what they said when we asked about my bro’s reception.
hehe we looked into Deer Creek - First of all they took forever to get back to me and when they did, the coordinator wasn’t very helpful. I liked the venue itself except their prices aren’t that great considering that it’s out of Toronto. I think I was quoted around $80 for a Sunday lunch buffet. Also, i’m big on customer service..
yes, I have actually been looking at boston images! quite helpful I must say
Looked into the Estates of Sunnybrook as well, but unfortunately they don’t do tented receptions.
Thanks for the Todmorden Mills - we’re definately going to check that one out.
Will post back about Bruce & Boyd once I get more info on it
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
I was looking over my notes and West River DOES hold outside tented receptions..but only for upto 100 people. Tent rental cost is $6690 incl tax- & they allow outside catering.
Went to go see Black Creek yesterday (their tented patio) - they allow outside catering. Rental was only 1500 for the afternoon (11am - 4pm). The only problem we had was that the tent is facing their office building/ gift shop...not very scenic at all!
Also, the washrooms would be open to public.
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like
^ yeah, that doesn’t sound great… BUT could you spend some more on decor and maybe drape the tent such that the outside isn’t so visible? if you make the inside really attractive, no one will even look outside!
also for your photos, do call boyfriend/girlfriend pictures - www.boyfriendgirlfriendpictures.com
i cannot rate them highly enough- they did my wedding and two girlfriend’s of mine as well and they’re just so, so good. worth every penny! give jess and vanessa my reference and see if they can do something for you price-wise or maybe throw in an engagement shoot gratis.
