Also check Wedding Mapper for help in planning your wedding, Noor- http://www.weddingmapper.com/wedding_vendors/on/toronto/reception_venues/22

And have you checked Fantasy Farm? The name is terrible, but its supposed to be a beautiful venue.

^^ I had my prom at Fantasy Farms...and yes, the name is TERRIBLE, but the venue is gorgeous!! It's in the heart of the city but its surrounded by trees and greenery - you feel like you are in a magic forest somewhere. The venue itself is not super-large, but the inside has an elegant, medieval feel. And I know that at my prom we had halal food because we'd requested that, so seems like they are open to options.

Worth checking out.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

So which venue did you select?

I am looking at outdoor venues as well but I am not sure if we can get a good catering done at some of these venues.

Also, how much would be per head cost at banquet halls in mississauga/brampton? any ideas? If you don't mind sharing some of your research :)

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

hiii,
i dont live in toronto but i went to a wedding there, and the hall was really nice and food was really good, the venue was something like 'Rose Convention Centre'... something to do with a Rose lol, and it was in Mississauga,
Hope that helps!

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^red rose convention centre. ive been to a few weddings there, it is really nice.

I am not really looking at pakistani/indian banquet halls in mississauga/brampton but I know the price ranges from $30 - 60
Chandni around 40 and Woodbine is around $50-60 per person I think

It is hard to find a decent outdoor venue with good food!

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

So I did look into Todmordern & Fantasy Farms.
Todmorden can hold tent receptions & allow outside catering.
Anyway, both the venues warned me that there will be construction going on right on Pottery Rd. next summer.
There will still be access to both venues but ofc the road will be very busy + noisy + dirty I guess

Thanks SGC - I’m now using Weddingmapper! I found a couple more venues in Newmarket which I didn’t know even existed lol
Going to look at one of them on Sunday - will report back

Construction is a 8-5 thing usually- by the time your evening wedding rolls around, it'll be nice and quiet. I wouldn't dismiss those two if construction is the only thing.
Plus that neighborhood, and esp. Pottery Road, is one of THE priciest places in the city- I highly doubt those citizens would want to be too disturbed for too long and especially in the evening!

I'm getting my brother's wedding catered through Tandoori Time on Albion- the owner is a friend of dad's friend so he's giving us a great deal for a full menu at $16 per person and the food is yummy! They've catered a lot of venues in the city and they're very pro, so talk to them once you have your venue sorted.

Wow that's a great quote! I will look into the food once i've got the venue finalized. Where did you guys decide to hold your bro's wedding?

Oh & our wedding reception will be in the afternoon!

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ Construction is also a weekday thing- is your wedding on the weekend?

Yeah the quote is because we're friends of friends, but I'm sure if you negotiated, they'd be willing to do something for you. We're having it at The Westin Prince Hotel at York Mills and Don Mills. Its beautiful and very modern which is why we loved it. It was completely renovated two years ago so everything is very new. It also sits on 15 acres of parkland so the couple can do their outdoor photoshoot on site. If you were looking into a modern ballroom, I would suggest you check out the hotel.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

There is one in Vaughan called Le Jardin. I think that's a really nice one.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ She wants an outdoor venue

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Ooh, Noor, have you checked the Toronto Botanical Gardens? Their room is very pretty and it opens up to the gardens.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

update: went to go see Waterstone Farms & estate this weekend: GORGEOUS venue!! It can hold upto 150 people inside. They also allow tents to be put up in their property (couple must provide their own) and also allow outside catering.
just the venue rental is $5500 though..

There's also Hy Hope Farms - we have to go see that.
I did look into Toronto Botanical Gardens & i'm in talks with the coordinators to arrange a time for a meeting :)

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ can you negotiate the $5500? tent rental will cost you an additional $22 upwards per person depending on how many guests you are having, and then food on top of that.
although if you do the math for 200 guests, for example, with $16/head for food and $22/head for tent rental, you're at just over $13000. does that work in your budget?

We're thinking we don't need a tent for this venue, as the dining room opens up to a patio & there's a gazebo nearby too & acressss of beautiful land! I love this place..lol
I'm trying to negotiate the $5500- I hope the coordinator brings it down

The $16 per head that you guys are paying for your bro's wedding - does it include servers/cutlery/ everything else a caterer is supposed to provide? or is it just buffet style food ?

Our guest count is around 140, so even with the rental cost & food (if it includes everything) the budget is looking fine =)

OH & the dining room comes with chiavari's!!

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ Just wanted to let the guppans know that I've booked Noor for my mehndi make-up. She's a pleasure to talk to and I'm very excited about working with her!

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ yay, naqsa!

noor, that sounds amazing! the only reason i'd recommend a tent is in case it rains, but so long as you have someplace for guests to go if it does, you're golden.
and that's awesome about the chiavari's! :D
the $16 per head is a family price, i guess you could say- he might not come down that low, but it'll probably be in the $16-$20 range, i'd say. and of course you should always try for the $16 ;)
its a buffet set-up so all the food and serving ware is provided by tandoori time, but the plates and cutlery, glasses, etc. are provided by the hotel. don't worry about that, though, when the time comes, i can guide you to this fantastic rental place that has excellent rates, and same for décor- i've met and worked with some great vendors.
oooh, i wanna plan your wedding!
