(Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Hey Everyone

So first of all this forum is great! i got so much help from it in all different aspects, just wish I found it during my sisters wedding planning lol

So i’ve been looking around mississuagua-toronto area to find a nice venue…I went to look at Woodbine, Red Rose, mississuagua convention center, Versailles and A couple of others…and honestly nothing seems to be satisfying :(…some of the halls are surrounded by a lot of buidings…others are creepy looking to some extent lol…so does anyone have any other sugesstions?

btw im thinking Versailles for the mendhi, but ppl are telling me the food is bad…and i havent gone in for a tasting yet…any ideas?

Oh and ive narrowed down other stuff so far
Make-Up: Dimple Shah (nvr used her b4…but from here i think she’ll be good) or Shirleys/Maggies (My sisters makeup for her wedding and my makeup and hair for my engagement …turned out great! )

Dj/Music: Im opting for the in house speakers with the hall and my ipod lol :D…at our family weddings all the dancing is over with by the mendhi…

Deco: mendhi and shaadi both are being handled by some decorator…have a few names from Sughaag Magazine for those of you who live in Canada

Im considering gettting a Wedding Coordinator…

Any help will be sooo …welll helpful

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

have you checkd out Liuna Gardens? they have an amazing venue.. sorta outside toronto.. on your way to Niagara falls.. Also have u been to Paradise Banquet Hall?

For music we just got speakers from a company in Toronto and my brother set up all 3 days.. and we just hooked up the PC to the speakers and blasted music.. worked out pretty well

For makeup I had Shirley Wu.. was abs. amazing!!

My wedding was at Sangam and i attended another wedding at Candles banquet hall and i really liked candles..but i guess u won't like it...their food was good though...

I had dimple for my mehndi and makeup for both days and she is excellent at both but if u have to choose defintely get her for your mehndi....seriously she is the best.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :frowning:

^ thats funny- i JUST got back from a friend’s wedding at liuna gardens. the venue is stunning, the rooms are very nice and neutral but i dont think they allow outside catering. still, it wouldn’t hurt to ask. liuna station is not as nice though. www.liunagardens.com

our mehendi was at maple banquet hall- the food is great and the hall itself is pretty nice. our wedding was in oshawa at parkwood estate- gorgeous venue, great food, but it is an outdoor wedding i.e. under a tent.

have you checked out www.venuesource.ca and www.theperfectweddingguide.com
both of those sites have a ton of information. oh, and fuzion banquet hall is supposed to be amazing but i believe they might be fully booked for 2009 already- maybe give them a ring to find out?
i’ve never been here but a friend was considering this place for her son’s aqeeqa… http://www.bellabanquets.com/

if you’re looking for an estate, theres Graydon Hall Manor in Toronto and also Eaton Hall in King City.

oh, btw Arcadian Court has an absolutely DELICIOUS looking desi menu- i was considering them for my wedding so i had received their menu info and it sounded soooo good. because we wanted an outdoor wedding we never went for a tasting with them, but i still remember being awed by it.
this is another good website for venues-
http://www.celebrate.ca/eventvenues/directory/toronto.php?gclid=CI_quZz5p5QCFRGHQAod6xIJtQ

a list of banquet halls in and around toronto- http://www.banquethallsontario.com/

i had zebi for my makeup for both days and she did a great job. dimple did my mehendi and she was awesome- professional, on time, quick and amazing designs.

for decor, i had midhu verma. she was also very good- she did my mehendi stage for $500 and it looked beautiful. message me if you like and i’ll give you the names and numbers of all my vendors. hopefully it’ll help make your planning easier!

also, depending on budget, there are quite a few golf courses in and around toronto/sauga/etc., and also theres that venue down at exhibition place which is really popular for desi weddings- i can’t remember the name now but i think it starts with an L. dammit.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

swaseem what are the names of the decoraters you have? can you please give them to as I'm looking for decorters.

somegroovychick could I please have the number of your decorater? did you also use her for your wedding? I mainly neeed a decorator for shaadi and valima. Thank you so much.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ i posted her name & number in the other thread you opened up LD... the one about the best decorators in toronto/gta

That's odd, i don't think we had even half that, i guess they changed their policies since then....

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Have you tried Crystal fountain?

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :frowning:

Try Royal Ambassador - one of my friend is gtg married there in 2009
http://www.royalambassador.ca
Also try West River- one of my friend got married there.
http://www.thewestriver.ca
You could try - I wanna to get married there, but no dates available.

Try- Solarium - One of my friend got married there stunning venue close to waterfront - great for you wedding pictures
http://www.dine.to/profile_features.php?feature=website&id=3273

As SGC said www.liunagardens.com stunning venue again - one of my co-worker gtg married there last year it’s great for pictures with nice gardens and waterfront.

I did all the wedding decoration for my friend at her wedding in May-08 i even made all the flower garlands, Bridal Gajras and her decorations for the ceremony and reception.

If you need any help, feel free to contact me and i would help you out no worries.

Good luck with the venue.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

i heart parkwood estate! i got married there and it is amazing.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

thanks you everyone so much for the help! I made a few appt. to go in and see some of the halls! another venue to consider perhaps is Polson Pier, or formerly know as the docks, thier Sky Lounge is A nice venue a lil pricey but looks like it would be worth it.....now the next challenge is looking for a caterer just in case! :)

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :frowning:

yeah the Solarium at Polson Pier is awesome but they’re very pricey compared to other venues.

i found this place recently Bella Banquets - index - its a banquet hall in king city- which is just next to richmond hill, i believe.
they do pakistani/indian/middle eastern catering.

if you’re having a smaller affair like a mehendi, the toronto botanical gardens are also a great choice. they have one room that opens out to the outdoor gardens. its lovely!

^ I've been to a couple of weddings at Bella Banquets and the hall is pretty nice. It has the outdoors feel and would be great for a smaller wedding as well.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

they said they can accommodate upto 400 people... hrm.
