Time to drop Akmal...

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

Mr. PAKI, it is not about supporting or not supporting a good player, it is about cricket and simple principle of allowing an inform and a talented player a chance to play for his country. I beleive there are about 150 millions people in Pakistan, and am sure about 50 millions of them are in the age bracket of 15-40 year old, and if we further reduce this age group to 16-30 year old and then just to men, still I am sure PAK have about 10 million youngster playing cricket.

Pakistan shouldn’t shut the doors on those youngsters, rather use merit and allow them chance. If a talented player is in form, like Akmal and Malik were for most part of their career, then one must not disturb the team setup, but if they are going through a bad patch, then they should be allowed to play in domestic cricket to regain their form, fittness and confidence before incorporating them into a national side.

Now you will be questioning, “who is so expereince enough to replace them?” If Pakistan use this policy of merit, then I am sure Pakistan will have experience enough players as a backup for every player. Therefore, it is a best time to allow a youngster to get some feeling of the big stage and experience at the highest level.

Unfortunately, Bob unlike Greg Chappel like to please Inzi and big bosses, and Inzi beleive in players who pray 5 times and are respectful to him on every account and then he likes to pay them back, like he always does for Arshad, and Akmal, and therefore for a such a LONG SERIES they didn’t even bother to bring a backup keeper, which would have allowed him to play some side matches even if Akmal was in form, and in present scenerio would have allowed him to contribute to the team by replacing Akmal.

Now atleast Pakistan should strengthen batting by bringing in FARHAT for MALIK, and once top order get some boost of form then They should allow rest RANA and bring in GUL to help AKHTAR, ASIF and RAZI with an additional pacer. These two changes will help PAK to clinch this series. Unfortunately, AKMAL can’t be rested because no backup keeper with the squad.

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

noooo akmal is still good

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

OK Mr. UNSATISFEID fan. and thnx for calling me mr paki :jhanda:  u got some point. But u r just not happpy with any thing FROM INZI,RANA,MALIK, and AKMAL. :hoonh: and would please also explain how would an international player find his FORM. and if ur answer is by playing in nets or domestic den u need to learn LITTLE BITTLE more about international cricket. AND the way u explained inzmam’s wayof picking player den SAEED ANWAR and MUSHTAQ AHMED would still be playing in the team oorr 3 or 4 more MOOLAHS from the streeet soorryyy dude i do agrreee that pakistan do got talent and thats it i do not agreee a dot more den that .

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

FYI, Saeed retired from test cricket, and is an educated man with his own credibility and intergrity, so no chance for Inzi to bring him back. As far as Mushtaq is concern, Inzi brought him pretty much into team, and if you follow cricket more closely then Mushi was even associated with Mullah group as bowling coach since he couldnt make to the team ahead of Mr. Kaneria.

Now back to issue of not liking someone, I do have an appreciation of the skills and telant of the players you mentioned, but unfortunately I don’t believe on giving a blank check to any professional player.

There is no doubt in Inzi talent as batsman, and totally agree with Imran that Inzi didnt get as much credit for his batting as Tendulkar and Lara got, but unfortunately being professional cricketer, you need to do more than batting. I mean fielding is the most important part of today cricket. Then, captaincy is a totally a different ball game. You need to be proactive, creative, interactive, and most importantly energetic (to provide fielding example to the rest of the players, and be able to jog to talk to bowler and then come back to slip, and most importantly to take sharp singles and could rotate strike when your partner is not hitting the ball too good e.g, Yousaf in match 4). Unfortunately, I am failed to see all the characteristics in Inzi. Reasons for his success as captain are limited to his integrity and abilities to bat well as captain.

Now to other players, I am their supporter all the way, but when they are out of form and couldnt even add 10 runs, e.g. Akmal and then contributing with byes, drop catches etc again Akmal match 5, then it is better to drop them for a series of few games and allow him to bring his confidence and form back by playing some domestic matches.

I don’t know where you watch your international cricket and what are you implying? if you digg deep and open your horizon little broader then you can see even players like Hyden, Lehman, Langer, Gellispie, Zaheer Khan, Kaif, Sewag, Yuraj, Trescothic, Martin, Gerant Jones, Sami, Farhat, Gungully etc went out of their national sides when they are not clicking with bat or ball and played domestic cricket to bring their form back and then joined national side. And to be honest some of the players from Pakistan you mentioned can’t be even compared with above players.

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

^^No, no...we don't want poor Akmal to commit suicide...that's why we will let him continue to be in the team and screw it over...we have to show a bit of pity here...

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

Yeah, Akmal's fine world class form both with the bat and glove continued in game 5, where he could'nt catch anything even if had 10 feet wide gloves...

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

Ok Further to my comments, now Mushtaq is again with the team, see cricinfo new Pakistan name Mushtaq Ahmed as assistant coach. I should rather say PAKISTAN hired an IMAM.

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

^^ pakistan hired an Imam… :amamah:
so who is the moadhin?..can I apply for the job?

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

They share the responsibilities of Moadhin among Afridi, Malik (short beards), Yousaf and Inzi; if any two of them are fielding or batting, others are available, but they were having hard time for IMAM especially for Maghrib and Ishah in day and night matches, when IMAM has to recite quran, so their options were limited. Now with Mushtaq induction, this problem is solved. We wouldn’t be surprise to see more players growing their beards.

Feel sorry for Asim Kamal, even his beard didn’t help him. Faisal Iqbal should grow his beard if he wants to be a regular part of the team.

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

you make it sound like you have insider info....
funny still...

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

What will happen to likes of Kaneria and imagine Shoiab being asked to keep a beard.

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

I think they are working on Kaneria to convert to Islam, and that could be the most probably reason for keeping him in England along with the rest of the Jumaat after test series. Since every one knew they are not going to give him a chance in ODI because of his expansive run rates, zero batting and disgusting fielding, so the only reason I could think of naming him in the squad of ODI is to give him more chance to attend their halaqas (religious discussion sessions) and influence him.

I am sure if this trend goes on, it will not be long before they make it a requirement for every player to grow beard before joining the team and pray five times otherwise being dropped.

I don't mean to be against prayers or beards, but religion should be a personal matter, not a business of every one else, so I fear this trend may take away opportunities from budding talented players in making.

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

The village is calling you back, you idiot :o .

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

It will be good if somebody gets the keeper some batting tips....

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

Rahul, you want me to elaborate on how Dhoni seems like a cat on a hot tin roof on seaming pitches with zero movement of the feet and an ordinary technique :o ?

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

Now Dhobhi bhai asked me why I didn't come to forum for 3 months, The game's response is one reason. Absolute illogical kneejerk reaction to a simple statement due to inherent bias.
Simple Dhobhi bhai, any opinion from anybody Indian is taken as insult.

and since Mr. Game you started this, do you want to compare batting record of these two... and if Dhoni fails than he should get batting tips as well......

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

I hate it when people tried to "analyze" the reasons for Yousuf's conversion to Islam, attributing it to his desire to becoming the captain, and thus themselves implying that "being a Muslims was somehow helpful in becoming the Captain of the Pakistan team." Regardless of Inzi's religious tendencies, I have never felt that there's any discrimination or pressurizing in our squad based on religious reasons. And the best way to keep it that way is by NOT TALKING ABOUT IT. It's easy to say that religion is a personal matter, but just saying it is not enough, you HAVE TO STOP TALKING ABOUT IT TOO. PERIOD. You don't analyze it, negatively OR POSITIVELY. You don't talk about it PERIOD! Talking about it give the outside media an impression that there's SOMETHING going on.

Re: Time to drop Akmal…

Rahul..
First of all every statement will not be taken as an insult..and you shouldn’t Take GAME’s one as an insult either..

Now, I don’t think or agree that Akmal needs batting tips as much as he needs pych coaching just like the rest of the team. Most of the time players from the sub-continent loose their nerves due to our subdued backgrounds fro our countries…and such is akmal going thru a bad patch of sorts. So there should be more of a sport psychiatrist for our players. And I think akmal has already displayed his array of strokes that he carries with him where he can even jump up on the rising delivery and guide it the boundary ropes.

All in good spirit !! :halo:

Re: Time to drop Akmal...

Again I agree to some and disagree with some of your logic...sorry..
Religion is not a personal matter, since our (referring to mine and those like me only) religion of Islam cannot be kept to ourselves as it should and does involve every part of our lives so it is bound to influence or atleast draw attention of people in close groups such as a sports team. Now, as to whether this is a pressure tactic being used in the team, then I agree with you that it probably is not. There will and can be many other equally bizarre reasons why Kaneria is travelling with the squad. One might even argue is that it is to prove that the team leadership is not run by a religuosly intolerant captain. lol. or to make sure he is working on his minor incapabilities if being a strike bowler so that he is ready for the WC...etc. etc..
And also the likes of Shoaib being allowed to return where speculation was alive with controversy that INZI doesn't like him and his days are gone...etc. etc.. Almost all Shoaib's fans know of his lifestyle, and it is in quite contrast with INZI and the bearded bunch..
Again, it is nice to see well decsiplined individuals running our team for a change, where in the past we even had to bare the shame of key members of our team getting hammered on the beach in the WIndies and then getting ticketed by the local police for their idiotic behaviours..(true or not scandals are scandals that stem from some evidence)..so atleast INZI keeps things clean and much less playboyish....good for him...good for Pakistan...good for cricket...

...nice speech ..hunh?!!:D
