Re: Those who Drive
Agent Smith hardly ever, but Suzuki Mehran does have this issue. It needs to be warmed up before driving.

Re: Those who Drive
yeah you are right though. No one should be doing it all the time. It puts too much stress on the engine and also it’ gives you bad gas mileage. But sometimes I can’t resist the temptation ot turbo ![]()
Re: Those who Drive
Yeah I know what you mean. In those circumstances I still change the gears in order. I first take it to third and drive for 10 seconds or so and then take it to 4th ![]()
Re: Those who Drive
About the questions you asked in the first thread the simple answer is that there is not a single rule to drive manual transmission car. The most important thing is that it depends on the car. You have to listen to the engine that when the gear needs to be shifted. It is impossible for me at least to describe in writing how to drive a manual car. The best answer for your question is practice. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature and then you won’t be even noticing while switching gears.
Re: Those who Drive
AS yeah I think so too that inshallah it will all come with practice :) My driving has improved now alhamdulillah since I started to drive already, I used to avoid changing gears before but now I don't mind changing them. Also I used to get scared of going into new and rush walay areas before but now I don't have a prob with that either alhamdulillah so practice is really helping.
Re: Those who Drive
ufff.. Khuda ki panah.. you used to avoid changing gears? .. now u dont mind changing them.. bari mehrbani hei apki!
seriously though, ek dafa sirf shahrah faisal ke traffic jam mein phans jao, itni dafa gear change karo gi ke practice ho jaye gi. and drive slowly, dont worry if other cars are honking behind u. sab ko ignore karao

Re: Those who Drive
You dont really have to change the gears at a particular time. If you want better fuel milleage change early , as in dont rev ur engine much. This will also protect ur engine from damage. For the first gear dont stay in it too much , just use it to start off a bit and then change to second and so on . Also i dont know why ur having trouble starting ur car , because if im not wrong it hasnt been that long since you bought it. Dont use the accelerater that much while warming it up .. if u want just give it a bit of gas . Not too much though.
As for when to switch if ur braking , brake first and then if u think the speed is too low for that gear , as in ur engine isnt reving that much , change it to a lower gear. If ur braking a lil bit , then you dont really have to press the clutch. But if its hard braking then use it or ur engine will stop running as the rpm will drop too low.
For the side view mirrors try and set them so u can see side lanes n stuff. Turning and looking isnt something id recommend specially in Pakistan.
Also irem if ur on a slope and u need to start off , just pull ur handbrake press the accelerator and leave the clutch a bit so the car just pulls of a bit and then leave the handbrake. That way u wont slide back .
Re: Those who Drive
Irem, how on Earth did you ever pass your test? ![]()
Not sure if anyone has mentoned it, but I usually use 1st gear 0 - 10 MPH, 2nd for 10-20 MPH, 3rd for 20-30mph etc
i do have a question myself tho, you know when you hold teh car using clutch control (as opposed to putting the break on/using teh handbreak), how long is too long? I sometimes hold mine for ages (out of pure laziness), and the clutch begins to smell as tho its burning … am I killing it then?
Re: Those who Drive
ur going to destroy ur clutch that way … try n not keep the clutch pressed for too long. ![]()
Re: Those who Drive
Do you know how much traffic I have to drive through everyday?
Youc an’t seriously expect me to apply my break/handbreak all the time
Re: Those who Drive
i drive around in lahore all the time when im there and yea i know how traffic is but ur going to have to use them yea.
Unless u want to change ur clutch plate , which is probably half gone by now.

Re: Those who Drive
So do I. I smashed up my wheel trim the other day (some idiot had parked his car where I wanted to go … and hell was that going to stop me
) and I told my dad he must have smashed it without realising (cuz as he’d borrowed my car the night before). He fell for it and promised to buy me new trims over the weekend, bless!
Re: Those who Drive
u mean rim right ? or wheel caps ?
Re: Those who Drive
those circle silver things that you put on wheels - tehy're called trims my end
Re: Those who Drive

waise i dont have a license yet but thats the plan hehehehehe
About your question I think you can drive the car on “clutch” control for as long as you want coz what that basically does is it puts the car in neutral, there shouldn’t be any burning smell. ger ur car checked i think.
Lekin once you get out of that then you should change to the right gear according to the current speed of your car.
why arent u using ur normal nick btw Sadi??? and welcome back
** iori yagami** firstly please tell me what does ur nick mean?
secondly thanks a lot for ur detailed reply
“Also irem if ur on a slope and u need to start off , just pull ur handbrake press the accelerator and leave the clutch a bit so the car just pulls of a bit and then leave the handbrake. That way u wont slide back .”
yup i do that, but this is not so easy…i mean it takes practice…and now FINALLY i have gotten the hang of it but the first time it was BAD! the car kept sliding back ![]()
and yup i did buy it recently but it still needs warming up. my friend who has a Mehran was telling me the same thing that he has this prob too. i think its a standard mehran prob.
maybe the batterry is weak tho
i’ma check with my mechanic abt this for sure.
Re: Those who Drive
Irem BETA you need to get training first before you start driving nahin to anjaam bura hoga (sadak pe jane wale baqi logon ko :D)
