using the choke causes the sputtering that happened .. i forgot what exactly happens but it isnt supposed to be good for your engine.

irem baji u know, when changing gear make sure to press the clutch with the left foot and not the right foot - which should stay on the accelerator :D Ive seen this mixup happen before and result in embarassments :P

PS: also irem baji dont mess with the choke function, most people dont know when and how to use it and thus it remains ineffective. Its primary purpose is to start the engine easily in cold weather. You dont have that problem in Karachi. Warm weather all year long.
Just idle the car for a couple of minutes after starting. That should be more than enough.

na, i learned how to drive at the age of 16. My instructor was a pak army driver - yup i learned to drive those army jeep wranglers first :stuck_out_tongue:

but in amreeka i know quite a few aunties who had the drivers license but couldnt drive cos their husbands still had the stick shift. they had to buy a automatic car for their wives LOL. Most ppl here dread driving stick shift.

I’ve never driven a jeep but really want to, they look cool :smiley:

i learnt to drive at 16 too hehe. right b4 i left for amreeka. my instructor was a young pathan guy n his name was “Gul Gulaab Khan” :smiley: He also taught driving to both my bros. younger bro n me learnt driving together. but i didn’t really drive much till now.

heheh yah i know my friends in amreeka were also like wow stick shift must be so tuf n i was like pak mein toh har koi yahi chalata hae :smiley:
its not a tough when u get the hang of it, shuru mein i guess u jus need gears kee practice

i’m not a very good driver but i am very very careful in traffic …can’t believe u don’t look in side mirrors …i’ll faint if i’m asked to drive without having a look at these every few minutes

i learnt driving on manual/ stickshift…but our own car is automatic …most of the stuff about manuals , i don’t remember now …but as for changing gears u have to sense it …my instructor told me to shift to 2nd gear at 10/15 km/h…after 25 …its third one(don’t remember right ) but around 50 its 4th n usually it depends how busy the road is …n go to 5th gear only outside the city

looking in the mirrors is in the order like look in the back view mirror , then a blink in side one if ok …then indicate n change the lane after just having a glimpse at ur blind angel…:slight_smile:

and as for warming up it in winter …my instructor told me its not environment friendly to accelerate a standing car (in neutral) …he always advised to switch it on …after a minute or so drive it very slow like in first gear for first 5-10 minutes

switching gears is always after the speed is increased coz only then ur engine demands it (the change in noise)

n for driving blunders …i did that driving with hand brake pulled …:hehe:

n our garage is very narrow …n its not like u can drive straight in it …its like after two sharp turns you r right at garage door …so i managed to scratch the side once :o i was expecting an earful …but thankfully heard him saying just …its ok as long as you yourself r safe :hehe:

:smiley: i think har driver shayad ye mistake kerta ho ga par ab mein hoshyaar ho gai hoon is baray mein after that time, mujhay itna bura feel hua k mein ne apni choti si gaari pe boht zullam kya hae handbrake utha k chalatay huay :hehe:

parking ka toh khayr na hi poochein abhee tak thori si jhijhak hoti hae parking karne mein :smiley:

mujhay actually samaj nai aati engine kee awaz kee…i guess thori practice ke baad samaj aye…aur oopar se yahan saRkon pe itna shor hota hae banda engine kee awaz sunay toh kaise sunay :hehe:

side mirrors kee bhee mujhay sahi se smaaj nai lagi..i guess it will take a bit of practice…lekin aisa nai ke mein side pe dekhti nai hoon…mein pehle oopar walay mirror mein takti hoon phir jaldi se left rite moonh mor k :smiley:

Irem, mai bohot pareshan hoon tumhare sawalon sey. Did you actually learn how to drive the car before you got it? :konfused:

And no, you needn’t press the clutch in unless you’re coming to a complete stop. Otherwise you’ll kill your clutch and will need a new one soon.

And when shifting from 1 to 2, you do it immediately. :hehe: You never continue driving in 1st, unless you’re going uphill. :hehe:

Infact, just shift straight from 2 to 4 in one go - something a friend taught me, even if you’re just cruising at 60.

You can switch from 2 to any gear if you have enough speed because you always have to put in neutral between switching. Same thing goes for down shifting. I sometimes switch from 3rd to 6th when I feel like leaving someone in dust. It’s more fun than humans should be allowed to have with their clothes on.

Hmmm Agent Smith I was told that's not good for the engine of your car to swtich gears like that, one should always go up/down in order.
