you took me wrong - What i was trying to elaborate is that after partition - majority of people from Urdu speaking areas ( Lucknow- Dehli , Agra ) migrated to karachi thus the urdu in karachi has become a beautiful melting pot in due course:)

@ KKF and Naabigh - in a way your side conversation is an example of the very topic of the post. Aap dono ka khayaal hai, kai jahan sai aap ka taaluk hai, wahan ki Urdu ka mayaar alag hai. Aap apni cheez, apnay nazar sai dekh rehai hai aur doosray log alag nazar sai.

Yahan to Urdu zubaan ka tapsira ho raha hai, lekin insaan apnay aap ko bhi aik maqsoos nazar sai samajh tha hai, aur doosray log ussay alag nazar sai dekh thay hain. Is kay beech mai, us insaan ki haqeeqi pehchaan bhi hai - to kaun sahi aur kaun ghalat, is ka jawaab kisi kai paas nahi.

Did I get my qaaf confused with my kaaf or khay and my pay confused with my bay I don’t mind anyone correcting my Urdu - so correct away! That I speak adequately and can read enough to get by is enough for me

BTW, how did this thread devolve into a conversation about Urdu. It’s about our many selves!
