Okay, I’ve yet to find a proverb I read years ago that went something like this:
There are four selves:
The way you see yourself;
The way others see you;
The way you THINK others see you; and
The way you really are.
What I took from this is that many of us deceive ourselves into believing that we are more or less than we truly are and we’re removed from the reality of how others perceive us and what we’re really like.
Question - how self-aware are people or how much self-deception do each of us practice? And how does the self-deception impact our relationships
For people who arent close enough to you or dont know you in depth - often the perception is reality . Thats why it is very vital to get yourself perceived well and in due course your actions speak louder then your words ! Although You can fool some people sometimes, But you can't fool all the people all the time.
It is quite strange but I have observed that even on online forums - people tend to keep records of your statements , the tall claims you make - so you cant preach something and do something totally different when it comes to action.
You got to be Genuine :)
And lastly how I see myself - the same way I see others , I dont discriminate !
^ ab thori c tashreeh bhi kar dain

1) The way you see yourself;
2) The way others see you;
3) The way you THINK others see you; and
4) The way you really are.

I don't think the way I perceive myself matches up to the way others percieve me? Also the ways other see me can really depend on the person and it varies.
OMG! itni saleek urdu... very impressive. You should be a professor or something...

Am I missing this:
5) you actually know what you are.
???
There is no number 5 according to the proverb and personally I agree with the absence of a 5th self. I believe each of us (to varying degrees) is dishonest with ourselves about who/what we are.
Most of us call ourselves flawed/imperfect humans and recognize we're got the ability for betterment. But despite admitting it to ourselves, we don't see always see our flaws as flaws.
