The terrorists within

Jihadi elements have melted into every part of society, especially the army and ISI and this is just one more proof of what can happen to countries that support jihadis or look the other way towards their activities. In this enviorenment, so-called democratic leaders would have an even harder time controlling the jihadis.

Suspect linked to PAF bus attack arrested

LAHORE: Intelligence agencies arrested an Al Qaeda-linked militant and six of his associates in connection with an attack on an air force bus in November that killed eight people and wounded about 40 others, a security official said on Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as Ahsanul Haq, a retired army major, was caught in Lahore last month following the November 1 attack in Sargodha, the official said.

Haq told security forces the name of the bomber, who belonged to an outlawed militant group, the security official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media.

“Ahsanul Haq was the mastermind of the attack on the air force bus, and six of his associates have also been arrested on his information,” the official said. ap

Re: The terrorists within

Its not that militants have melted in,, they were allowed to do so.. Remember the times of Afghan War ( Jihad to me), and then Kashmir problems. Pak intelligence/army was directly involved in it with the help of locals and foreign powers.

So of coarse Musharaf's sudden U-Turn towards these militants have caused to start their own way of war. Its like you feed a beast and train him to kill in his way and then suddenly you stop feeding him, whats the beast gonna do,, eat its master first.

Re: The terrorists within

100% true. There are very strong jihadi elements in the ISI especially who are working against Mush with outside help. Their best hope for success is to have Pakistan disintegrate so that Taliban can gain further influence and start to actively control more territory.

BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb “mastermind” arrested in Pakistan

LAHORE, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistani security forces have arrested a retired army major suspected of being the mastermind behind a suicide attack on an air force bus which killed eight people, an intelligence official said on Wednesday.

The suspect, Ahsan-ul-Haq, was arrested in the outskirts of the eastern city of Lahore on December 17, the official said.
“We recovered explosives and jackets used for suicide bombings at his house next to a madrassa (Islamic school),” said the intelligence official, who declined to be identified.
Authorities later arrested five of Haq’s associates in the city of Sargodha, based on information provided by Haq, the official said.
“All of them admitted they were behind the Sargodha attack and were planning to carry out similar attacks, even against politicians,” he said.
A suicide attacker on a motorbike rammed a bus carrying air force personnel on their way to a base in Sargodha, 170 km (100 miles) west of Lahore on November 1, killing eight people.
Haq, who is in his 60s, was said have been close to Afghan Muslim guerrilla commander Younis Khalis, who battled Soviet forces in the 1980s and later had links with the Taliban.
Haq ran a militant training camp in Afghanistan during Taliban rule, the security official said.
The Taliban regime ended when U.S.-led troops ousted the hardline Islamists for refusing to hand over Osama bin Laden, weeks after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.
Pakistan has been hit by a wave of suicide bomb attacks in recent months which have killed about 400 people, many of them members of the security forces and security agencies.
Suicide bombers have also attacked politicians including opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, assassinated in a gun and bomb attack in Rawalpindi on December 27.
The government says an al-Qaeda linked militant based in the lawless South Waziristan region on the Afghan border was behind Bhutto’s killing. A spokesman for the wanted commander, Baitullah Mehsud, said he was not involved.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb "mastermind" arrested in Pakistan

Posted before, but like I had said, the jihadi elements are deeply entrenched in the establishment. This is not an easy task to remove them.

Toora, where in Pakistan are you from? Just curious?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb “mastermind” arrested in Pakistan

:rotfl: Jihadi element in Pakistan, in Pakistani madrassahs, in Aitchson, in Pakistani cricket team, in Pakistan military, in Pakistani farms and in crevices. You my friend are living in a very dangerous, irrational world of here be dragons! There be dragons!
Now this Brit bloke (accused in another thread) (according to some here) is probably also related to “JIHADISM” (BOO!) in kashmir or Chechnya, Palestine and ofcourse what’s hapeneing in Waziristan right? Right.

Why don’t you go a step further and say it outright like the bigoted US neocon Islamophobes? That Islam is the problem. It is the filthy muslim culture? lolz And give it convenient names: In the 80s and early 20th century it was the “death cult” known as shiasm with Western publication filled with its repulsive horror and hate, now it is this new phenomena called “wahabiism” and what was the other one? Yes, deobandiism :hehe:

There are rational explanations for the anger of unrelated peoples which can be juxtaposed both in local enabling politics as well as with global failings of the Big Whigs and regional historicity. As can be other phenomena not related to muslims.

The problem is that simple statements wrapped in personal bigoted smut requires FOUR times the energy and time to explain. And it is exhausting. Explaining and discussing with a non muslims and non Pakistani is so much more productive and amiable even if it’s a rabid Islamophobe-Falwell-Benny Hinn-Aramageddon-loving ninny.

Indeed in the West their are fair minds which tend to delve into empirical reasons from whence comes this animosity and they would be the first ones to be derided by the likes of you as well. Still, indeed even in the Orient their are fair inds which actually ignite some neurons.

But here in this forum all I see is useless advocacy of archaic prejudicial views, racist and cruel. Beginning with the shameless advocacy of Fasicsm, endorsement of military rule against the constitution, the spirit fo Pakistan, it’s foundig fathers. No shame, no outrage, no horror at the deaths of people dying, murdered and bombed within the country’s own confines regardless of one’s political affiliations. And of course the crowning gems from some dullards: patriotism is just supporting the state and beating the chest regardless of what the state machinery does. Be cause we have appearances to keep. Along with annoying hyperboles and visceral attempts at censorship when posts are arbitrarily reported and taken off. Shame. Shame . SHAME! :nook:

As to your inquiry where I am from in Pakistan: I am from Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta, Islamabad and all townships and settlements whether Urban or rural. And I have died and cried many times along with all those who have suffered.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb "mastermind" arrested in Pakistan

Agencies need to act faster now, they need to catch the whole chain then announce it publically...

That so called Major should be first sent to a psychiatric to get more about his inside and his thought regarding his mission, then that informations or wishes has to be answered accordingly! Its a very sensitive issue and has to be dealt carefully!

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb "mastermind" arrested in Pakistan

This is a war on a totalitarian state by the people of the land. There is no clear enemy. And this anarchy will grow because of popular disenchantment with the current dispensation. Pakistani people are not Iraqis or Egyptians (Nations, whose disenfranchised citizens if not gassed or raped or hanged only manage to sneak out and cause havoc on what they see as a foreign enabler or cause of their humiliation). Pakistanis are more like Americans as were the founding father of both these nations, only to be failed by their leaderships or suppressed and humiliated by their military clique.

This anarchy will grow until a strong leadership comes which atleast has some national confidence. The first suicide bombing in Pakistan happened in the past year or so. This phenomena didn't appear before until now.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb "mastermind" arrested in Pakistan

sultan toora, u make very valid points.
this is mere dirty scum bucketing against Pakistan, nothing else.
put on a local face to cover a crime set up by outsiders who want the country to get hurt or bribe a local and get the world destroyed for the nation, in the current history and in the century to come.
loot and plunder within the country, damage to life and property that is the tool by which out siders thrive. unless there is no unity among the nationals and unless the govt is not taken into full confidence, internal and international mockery will continue unfortunately and cause immense damage.

you're right - the clear enemy is hidden.
but it will be clearly obvious, soon.
inshaAllah.

since army and political parties, or afghan refugees or local tribal areas are seen as an easy scape goat, whoever is behind all this is having a very fun time seeing muslims kill muslims.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb "mastermind" arrested in Pakistan

If we recall, It started from INDIA, when Indera Gandhi was bombed by a Sikh attacker, it s also done very often in Sri Lanka as well, it was also done by Pak Army in 1965 war against india, ... but now it gets worst! ...

We as a nation need to get some solution! we need to talk to these elements and listen them and try to fulfil thier jaiz demands and try to convinve them where they are wrong!

This can not be done by one set of people, it should be done by all all parties, and Islamic scholars... scholars need to come forward and try to talk to them, listen them ... later these people need to go back to Govt and convince them! ...

We all know there is something wrong, but we don't know what is wrong! so we need to sit and solve this problem! The problem does not belong to just one party... this is our national problem and we need to work as Pakistani ... I wish we can solve this very soon...

Re: The terrorists within

Mushs action in supressing democracy and the human rights movement are the #1 reason for the rise in extremism

Re: The terrorists within

ISI is out of control, especially at the lower levels. Mush does not met every ISI agent each day and ask him when he is doing.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Suicide bomb "mastermind" arrested in Pakistan

Dushwari, There are many things and factors which are not in our hands. But there are some which are. We have no reason to believe whatever is happening in Pakistan is being done by some esoteric cabal.

A foreign hand can do naught o the fall of this republic, if the internal system of values and governance puts emphasis on justice for the elements that make up the republic: the people. And in case of Pakistan, it;s peoples. That is and should always be the first priority of a good republic. As is obvious, we not only have distraught citizens (along with foreigners) who commit terrorism and destruction for a myriad of reasons, we have people within this establishment and its supporters who are not only the first primer of state terror and disenfranchisement of the people, they outright advocate slaughter. And it is here, where the rebels or the angry public have the higher ground of public sympathy.

It is usually citizens of those states who don't feel their state represents their interest or the ideal of the republic which had been pumped and embedded into the sub conscience of the peoples, that produces these rebels, freedom fighters, terrorists.

Remember, when US declared the immoral war on Iraq, most didn't sympathize with Saddam but with Iraqi resistance. Sadaam's regime collapse within 72 hours or so. No one wanted to fight for the dictator. But after his fall, we see the chaos which emerged in Iraq as Iraqis rejected the US occupation.

If Pakistan is destined to be attacked by outside forces for whatever reasons, let at least the republic hold the ideals for its people so that they may at least go down fighting with honor for the flag. This country has been brought under this regime to such darkness, that even that may not happen as more peoples of the republic may get disillusioned with its very foundations.

But regardless of whether the republic may stand or not, let's at least advocate things which are right in principle...no matter how those principles may be come across as subjective.
