The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

^ With no offense, this might be said in a different context. Otherwise what about the hadith which declare Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed as the "Sword of Allah".

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

Oh but the Prophet gave his sword to Hazrat Ali. Also it was Hazrat Ali that was known as the Lion of Allah :)

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

^ True, I agree. Also Hazrat Hamza (r.a) was named as Asad-ullah and Asad-ul-Rasool as it was written on the "Arsh" of Allah after he was blessed with shahadat by Allah (swt).

I think I misunderstood the earlier quote. Now after reading it a few times I have understood the context in which it was said. (By the grace of Allah)

JAzakAllah khair for sharing :)

khubayb ibn adi[ra]

when Hujr b adi[ra] was being martyred he said the same thing

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

Oh...yes, I remember when I read about Hazrat Khubaib (r.a), the crowd of children women and elder people gathered around him, they were cutting small pieces of flesh from his body and insisting him to say something bad about the Prophet (saw) by helding him responsible for his condition but Hazrat Khubaib (r.a) kept praising the Prophet (saw) and then he raised his hand towards the sky and said, "O Allah! Count them one by one and then perish them all!"

You know in that crowd there was another man who was among the leaders of arabs, he didnt want to come but other kuffar forced him to come. That person was so effected by the way Hazrat Khubaib (r.a) offered those two rakahs that he couldn't take off his mind from him and use to think about Hazrat Khubaib (r.a) even at night when he used to go to sleep.

This man later accepted Islam to become a Suhabi (I forgot his name ). He later did alot for ISlam, and was also involved among the people who selected Hazrat Umar (r.a) as 2nd Khalifa. When Hazrat Umar (r.a) oppointed him as a Governor of another place, he requested Hazrat Umar (r.a) to not give him such a big responsibility, but Hazrat Umar (r.a) said that you gave me such a big responsibilty and are not accepting it when I am giving it to you.

After that Suhabi became the Governor, Hazrat Umar (r.a) once sent a person to his city to bring him the names of 10 poorest people in that city so that Hazrat Umar (r.a) could help them financially. Hazrat Umar (r.a) was shocked to see the Governors name also written in the list. He later sent some money to the Governor which he sent back and refused to accept.

Once the people of That Suhabi's city came to Hazrat Umar (r.a) and said that we have three complains against our Governor.
Hazrat Umar (r.a) called the Governor for trial but in his heart he was praying to Allah that even after the trial the respect of that Suhabi may remain the same in Umar's heart.

The three complains were:

  1. He should come early to join his duty as a Governor but he doesn't come early in the morning.

  2. He shoud also observe his duty as a Governor in the night but he leaves for his home earlier.

  3. Sometimes when we are talking to him, he becomes unconcious and doesn't listen to what we are talking to him

When Hazrat Umar (r.a) asked that Suhabi for the reason, he replied.

  1. After the morning prayers I clean my house and prepare meal for my family due to which I can't come immediately after prayers.

  2. I don't observe my duty as a Governor at night because I spend that time in prayers and Ibadah

  3. While talking to people suddenly the time and Image of Hazrat Khubaib (r.a) comes to my mind and the feeling that I should have saved him at that time gives me intense sadness and I get unconcious due to intense sorrow.

I don't have the book with me at the moment. Can anyone tell me the name of that Suhabi ?

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

Hazarat Abu Bakar Sadiq :razi:. In such times he had so much trust on Prophet Muhammad :saw: and he was always by Prophet Muhammad :saw:. And the fact that he was a close friend of Prophet Muhammad :saw: since childhood and till the time Prophet Muhammad :saw: departed this world.

It is said in history if it wasn’t Abu Bakr Sadiq, Islam may have stopped at the time of Prophet Muhammad :saw: departure from this world. Every single person at that time was so greave that no one had any understanding what to do and how to move forward but it was Abu Bakar Sadiq who lead the Muslims and Allhamdulillah Islam spread to the four corners of this world.

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

The Prophet(SAW) has said that after all the Prophets, the man Allah loves most is Abu Bakr (RA). And had there been a Prophet after Muhammad (SAW), it wouldv'e been Umab (RA).... so yeah, these are my two favourites!

I read this info is a hadith, but cant track it down right now, sorry, but I know they are sahih.

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

True, forgot to mention him.

Abu 'Ubaida bin Jarrah

*Volume 9, Book 91, Number 360: *

Narrated Hudhaifa:

The Prophet said to the people of Najran,

"I will send to you an honest person who is really trustworthy."

The Companion, of the Prophet each desired to be that person, but the Prophet sent Abu 'Ubaida.

*Volume 9, Book 91, Number 361: *

Narrated Anas: The Prophet said,

"For every nation there is an Amin (honest, trustworthy person) and the Amin of this nation is Abu 'Ubaida."

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

brother Ubay ibn Ka’b [ra] is a different sahabi than abu ubaida[ra]

http://iberr.org/ubaiyibnkab.htm

he was one of the four expertens on Quran

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

^ Thanks brother for sharing it. I was actually not confusing the two but only wanted to share about Hazrat abu ubaida[ra]

JazakAllah khair for sharing the link, insha'Allah it would help me in learning more about the great Suhabi (r.a)

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

I can't believe nobody mentioned Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir May Allah be pleased with him. Such a great guy... Just analyse his life from the beginning till his breath. He came to Islam and then his parents got tortured and killed in front of his eyes. He could have been those type of people who could have said 'where was God - where was He when I got tortured, where was He when my parents were screaming in pain etc' But he was patient n Allah had promised that he is with the patient ones. I get emotional when I read about him. If I remember correctly he was a youth when he accepted Islam. He was one of those who was promised paradise while he was still alive - but getting there required a lot of sacrifice. He was there when all the fitna among the muslims took place. He was martryed in the battle of Siffin. He stood by the Haq n the Quran even when it meant that he was on the opposing side of the wife of the Prophet (pbuh) in a battlefield and on the opposing side of another 'companion + Khilifa'.

Imagine a 90 year old man on the battefield calling out loud 'O Heaven how far art thou....'

His lost was a great blow to Hazrat Ali a.s. and to the Ummah but what an inspiration this man is. My hats off to this great Sahaba - trully a sahaba.

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

^ there is no denying the superior merits of Ammar[ra] over many other sahaba, however not mentioning him does not mean we have forgotten him .....this thread would be too tedious if we list the valiant accounts of each and every great sahabi ...so thats why we are sticking to one or two per person.
he was a living proof of the prediction made by the prophet that the "rebel band will kill ammar" ...it is narrated in many accounts of siffin that some companions and tabaeen followed ammar[ra] in siffin as young camels follow their mother .....sure that ammar[ra] will lead them to the right path. This is the irrefutable proof that Ali[as] and his supporters were on Haq while muawiyah and syrians were the baghis .....

earlier ammar[ra] fought valiantly against the apostates in the battle of yamanah in the caliphate of abubakr[ra]
Ammar[ra] was also appointed governer of kufa along with abdullah b masud[ra] by umar b khattab[ra].

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

No, I didn't mean u guys forgot nor did I mean that u don't respect him. I am just dissapointed nobody mentioned him so far. :( Thats all.

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

^^ he was one of the greatest and earliset sahabi of prophet(pbuh)

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

fair enuf....but u shudnt be there were 313 ashab-e-badr , most people cant name more than 10, despite the fact that all of their names are recorded in history and biographers have wrote about atleast 50 of them ....

Re: The official Suhabas (r.a) Fan Club

no doubt ....another prophecy made by the Prophet[saw] regarding him that he would have a drink of milk before his martyrdom and sure enuf , a pitcher of milk was given to him to break his fast just before his final charge against the syrians .....

when his head was brought to muawiyah 2 men were quarreling over who had killed Ammar[ra] , even amr b a'as was forced to admit that these 2 are quarreling over who wants to gain hellfire. His son abdullah[ra] was deeply distressed over the marytrdom of Ammar[ra] and later said that he neither fired a arrow nor drew his sword in siffin against the army of Ali[as]

other exploits of Ammar[ra] include his participation in the conquest of perisa in the caliphate of umar[ra] when he commanded the reserves from kufa
hudhayfa [ra] has also narrated that ammar[ra] is always with the truth when people asked him who to follow if muslims differ amongst themselves
