dont worry guys...no one is pointing at brother NBN
there are religious reason, but since no one really understands them so many provided scientific reasons. i personally recommend everyone teggy's post. he explained it very well. so NBN you can easily mock anyone with those scientific reasonings, and stop those people from consuming anymore pork, and get sawab.

Teggy's answer, actually, was really simple minded. I would figure only people like Zobia would find it acceptable.

Lol there is always atleast one who doesnt read the thread properly...**Zobia **im not discussing why Pork is haraam...what im discussing is why that is seen like the most gravest of sins...i mean a drug dealing Muslim is still lokked upon as ok but once a guy delves into pork then hes almost see as though hes like left his faith...is it really that bad a sin in comparison to the other things?...
Cheegum and AngelEyes...I agree with you its easier to choose not to eat pork than it is say to fornicate or backbite...thats why we dont eat it...but just a question to you all...who subconsciously do you think is deviated more...the drug dealer that drinks a bit or the the normal guy that will have sausages for breakfast...subconsciously we all seem to think pork is more deviant and thats weird to me...
The only Muslims i know that dont care about prok are the Iranians...they just sin across the board...

Naughty by Nature, its all about desi convenience. People can live without eating pork.. there are tons of alternative permissible foods. Lying, backstabbing, cheating, fornicating etc.. well theres no alternative to that now is there?

I would never eat pork because ever since I was little it was taught to me that its bad, so whenever I think pork, I think something thats gonna taste and smell extremely foul, so I have no attraction to it whatsoever. The concept of eating pork automatically causes a feeling of disgust. It's something im gonna be ingesting, so Id rather not take a risk with that kinda thing. Sex and drugs, sure my parents said they were bad and all, but I never got a mental picture or even like a preconceived notion of how drugs are gonna taste like or whatever, so its not that hard to stay away from. I was told that it was bad, but not given a disgusting description of it. We're told sex is for after marriage, drugs are bad for us because they alter our perception of things, and pork we're just told is bad, its nasty...I cant explain it, but I think thats how alot of people see it. Drugs, sex, etc arouse feelings of excitement, and fun... but something as simple as eating something thats forbidden really doesnt do much for me in terms of enticement.

Haha sure, since they eat pork theyre the worst sinners, even worse than pakis who cant seem to go a day without killing someone.

Im not to sure i did, or i conciously didnt mean to.
However to be honest, they are the least Islam concerned. Not with pork. The Persian cannot forgoe his drink. The Turk wants to copy the Europeans. Drinking and Sex are standard norms in society.

Drinking and Sex are not norms in Turkish or Iranian society...just like any society the haraam is more commonplace with the privileged...Turks just like asians are a mixed bunch...Turkish government begs to be European the people dont...thats like saying cos Musharaff was on americas d*** that pakis are wannabe americans...not quite...

Personally, im glad your here bro. Your like a role model! I too wanted to do a dual major in History and Sociology as i found it interesting. My parents gave me 3 options: Engineer, Lawyer, Doctor. The true Desi way! :)
I still read History books avidly, although i shouldnt because my grades are suffering. I tend to use History as a vehicle to understand Psychology of people in numbers and as individuals when they dont have the benefit/misfortune of peer influence.
But i understand why you post threads that you do. Im sure you must get flak from others about thinking about too much sex or drugs or asking wierd hypothetical questions - but it shows your Sociological Studies are forcing you to ask such questions. Trying to test societies taboos!

In Kitab Al'Asgar (The Book of Sins) Imam Dhahabi mentions many sins in somewhat of an order and drinking and adultery are the highest sins, but eating pork is nowhere mentioned. Something to think about.

In the end i was wound up going to interviews for 3 Pakistani Medical Colleges: Sindh, Baihaqi, DOW.
But i stayed in Houston and study Civil Engineering.
Your right, after reading secondary sources about histories and sociology i feel i know more than people who go through the actual process of choosing those Majors. Alot of it is open to interpretation and there is no clear rules as to how humans define, group or allocate themselves. Interesting to say the least.
But these days im appplying more study to CE, gotta get through University with a 3.0/4.0!

ps. brother, its a Love of ALLAH SWT who dont want us to eat filth (and to do so he orders us), and probably the reward might be load greater for us when it is available to us but still we respect ALLAH SWT’s order.
so ya this iman-testing though is very small, but who knows what gonna possess greater attributes in fronts of ALLAH SWT.
for greatest sin: respected brother, as is said its a Love of ALLAH SWT so look at creator’s aspect. when you love someone/something you dont want it/them to get hurt. and if your love is going for something bad, you do several things to stop them, but in a meantime you also put your love on several test 
and i am sure by now you do know that your whole life is a test.
