THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

ok, just reserved my copy of the mangoes.

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

I got my copy today and instead of me reading it my husband has had it in his qabza the whole evening.. looks like an interesting book though!! :D

cant wait to get started on it!! :D

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

Can I join?

men usually do not return books so early once they get qabza of a good one :chai:

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

Great idea mysti! Count me in :D

Although, just as a suggestion, we might need to give some people a little extra time to be able to purchase the book, or get it from the library. Sometimes, the library has the book, but it's been checked out already, so we have to wait for it to be returned.

Maybe we can give a list of the next three books, so that the people that want to pick them up from the library (like me!) or purchase them from amazon have ample time to get them before the reading for that book actually starts.

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

^exactly!

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

awesome idea Smilestar -

I think we're up for reading Holy Women by Qaisara Shiraz next -

Im leaving the booklist upto you guys and I'll pop in suggestions once in a while too :)

Definitely - :)

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

oh man this book is good!!

Im going to send out a PM to everyone on the list for suggestions for the next few books.

I'd really like to read peer-e-kamil by umera ahmed and I have a PDF incase anyone wants to read it aswell :)

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

^which book is good?

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

Sorry I meant "the case of exploding mangoes" - its really good!

Is it just me, or is there an inclination to translate the conversations to Urdu? I read what he says to someone else in English, but in my head, I hear it in Urdu.

i'm guessing this book would be written in urdu? although i can read urdu, it's just gonna take me 5 years to finish it..cause i read so slowly :p so please consider that we all can't read urdu as fluently or at all, as some of you :D

i'd like to make a suggestion for a book..'A feast of roses' and 'The twentieth wife' by Indu Sundaresan. It's sort of a historical/mughal novel. They're both very good novels! And I wouldn't mind reading them again :D

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

peer-e-kamil has english translations available too -

the case of exploding mangoes is in english

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

^ Yup! I found The Case of the Exploding Mangoes at my library :D

Re: THE GS BOOKCLUB!!!

if you want I can find the english translation of peer-e-kamil and mail it to you :) whenever we're done reading this one -

I think Holy Women by Qaisara Shiraz is next on the list :)
