The Great Democratic Nation called India

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Are you kidding...

The West is getting tired of Indian Immigrants

Look at what American Senators Joe Biden and George Allen said. they made fun of indians....

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

^^

. One big fear among the local americans is that we are taking away their jobs. If you look at it in the real sense of the term, you find many companies lobbying to increase the count of H1-B visas so that more number of Indian techies can work in US.
Let me not get into a comparison with what Pakistanis have to put up with in US. To get a perspective you would like to think about the fact that we Indians are not being asked to register ourselves at the local immigration office.
Just think ....

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Right…That’s what they all say. At least you’ve learned to copy and paste with paragraphs! Good stuff, you’re moving ahead kid! Clown school isn’t so bad is it? This might get you on the honor roll.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

This is what companies think about Indian outsourcing;

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/11/17/BUGB3FPGT01.DTL&type=tech

While irate calls are a mainstay of customer service work in any country, many Indian call-center workers say they regularly face particular abuse from Americans, whose tantrums are sometimes racist and often inspired by anger over outsourcing.

This vitriol has fueled a “searing anger” among the Indian employees, says Vinod Shetty, a Bombay lawyer who has formed a collective for call-center workers. “A lot of trauma is caused.”

Debalina Das, 22, a computer help-line agent in the city of Hyderabad in south India, punched the button last winter for a call from the United States.

The caller greeted her with a torrent of racial and sexual slurs, accused her of “roaming about naked without food and clothes” and asked, “What do you know about computers?”

The diatribe ended with the comment:“This company is just saving money by outsourcing to Third World countries like yours.”

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

now I truly feel sad for you

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

whether its good or not is a separate discussion, I meant to point out that current India's geography is only 59 years old, it has gone thru many changes even in last 500 years, so next time you should n't brag about 5000 years.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

A few American financial services companies/banks including the one I work for, gave customers the choice of having customer service folks located in USA instead of India. The catch obviously was higher fees if they opted to have US call centers.

Not surprisingly, all the patriotism dried up when it started hitting their own pockets. 95 % of people opted for the cheaper alternative

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

^^

It is just a perspective. Different people have different opinions. I myself scream at any telemarketing agent if she or he calls me at a time when I am really busy. Any job comes with its own baggage. It is how you react to it that makes the difference. All things said and done, here in Bangalore we have more and more companies setting shop.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

And a lot of American companies are setting up subsidiaries in India and calling it off-shoring instead of out-sourcing. Takes away some of the negative connotation. And they even give some gora employees the option of going there for short/long term assignments. Win-win situation according to me :D

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Complete economic revival will take time. The Indian middle class was not as prosperous 10- 20 yrs ago as it is now. The benefits of booming economy will trickle down gradually but they definitely will. There are more & more lower caste/dalits who are economically prosperous now than there were 20 yrs ago.

And dont forget that the modern India is just 60 yrs old. Look at how far we have come since 1947. No one is denying that there is still room for improvement, but our track record proves that we are on the right path.

You can keep pointing fingers all you want. But why dont you look at Pak and see where it has reached in 60 yrs :) You guys were probably better off under Jinnah.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

No matter, India has a Billion people....

And not all of them can get out sourcing jobs

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Pls define outsourcing ? Its not just restricted to call centers. IBM & Microsoft setting up research centers in India is also outsourcing - they are outsourcing R & D.

The Chinese economy is booming on outsourcing - India can too.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Oye Raza 106, tu apne Pak meing khush rah, aur hamein hamare India mein Khush rahne de. :D

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Raza Bandhu, I pity that you cannot understand a simple fact that the poverty in India, or for that matter anywhere in the world, cannot be magically ended overnight. It takes time.
For that India is working hard and doing great, moving in a positive direction everyday. You can see that India has a GDP of over $3 trillion now. It was much lower about 10 years ago.
India is going in positive direction - this can be seen by the budget that comes out. Unlike Pakistan and China who spend over 3% of the budget on Defence, India spends a little over 2%. We would spend even less if we did not have terrorist nation as our neibor. The reason for that is that in India we think that there are some things that are more important than war and besides what ever we spend is enough to defend ourselves from superpowers and thrash rough states like Pakistan at will.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

oh comon u people always a narrow mind on the paper everything looks good but in the practical its different.u india have 12 to 14 laks army and pakistan have 6 lakhs so here u can see who spend a lot in defence .secondly plz correct the GDP Figure .from CIA webcite u can find out he correct GDP FIGURE.wE ARE ONLY 16 MILLION POPULATION COUNTRY AND U ARE 1.2 BILLION POPULATION COUNTRY SO U NEED MORE DEFENCE FROM PAKI.wE HAVE ONLY 1 COUNTRY THAT IS INDIA BUT INDIA PROTECT THEM SELVES FROM CHINA ,PAKISTAN ,NEPAL AND BANGLEDESH.Pakistan never promote terrorism but india have RSS,SHIVSENA, AND OTHER WHO ALWAYS CREATE PRPOBLEM FOR MUSLIM .PLZ IMPROVE UR SELF TO SPEAK SOMETHING.....

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

LOL…:bizz: :bizz:
Read this and open your eyes…

http://www2.dw-world.de/southasia/pressreview/1.193517.1.html

“The Taliban was born here. Here’s where the Al-Qaida was founded. And the young Muslims from London… also received their ideological equipment here in Pakistan.”

About madrassas -

"In many of these schools lessons in jihad are more important than lessons in mathematics… The state has a schizophrenic relationship with these schools… They fill the gap left by the statutory education system in poorer areas.”

Its funny when Pakis talk about the ills in India, as if their own country is perfect -

"58 percent of the 150 million people (of Pakistan) cannot read or write, and the percentage is on the increase. The government invests almost three times as much in the military than in education. 15 percent of the schools in the country do not have any proper building, 40 percent do not have running water, 71 percent no electricity. A recent survey in Punjab showed that in 4,000 schools – out of a total of 15,000 – no teacher was present. Many schools are open only sporadically.”

I am talking %, so numbers should not matter. Indian army has to proptect more people and longer borders so that justifies the larger number.
Pakistan uses more % to defence, from a pool of less - So imagine what is left for other sectors.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Pakistan promotes Freedom struggles

if that is intrepreted by indiians as terrorism

one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist
