The Great Democratic Nation called India

India, a large and uncontrollable country with over 1 billion people has yet to find peace and security in South Asia. It routinely points the finger of blame towards neighboring countries yet never blames itself for its own and quite often obvious failings.

One closer look at history of the region and it becomes evident that it is India which is the root cause and inflamer of much of the terrorism and instability in the region. While it is quick to blame others for carrying out such activities, it rarely has ever blamed itself for carrying out similar deeds, a deadly mix with a nation facing dozens of separatists movements, chronic poverty and disenchantment and possession of nuclear/chemical and weapons of mass destruction(WMD).

It has long been accused of foreign interference, particularly its intelligence agency (RAW - a menace 100 x more dangerous than Pakistan’s ISI) This indian intelligence agency-RAW has been implicated in bombing campaigns targeting innocent civilians in Bangladesh, Kashmir, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Afghanistan, Nepal and even Burma; a staggering number of countries.

It has a long standing border dispute with Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and China with which it went war and lost in 1962. Its continuing reluctance to settle the issue of Kashmir with neighboring Pakistan has led to an increase in militancy within its territory and nuclear brinkmanship with Pakistan, its continued interference in the affairs of Sri Lanka, first helping to create Tamil resistance groups(terrorist outfits known for suicide missions) to divert attention from its own larger Tamil province and later physically sending its troops there only to be humiliated, having their prime minister assassinated and hurriedly retreating.

The fact of the matter is that India has border disputes with all of its neighbors bar no exception. It unnecessarily introduced nuclear weapons into South Asia back in 1974(detonating a nuclear device a mere 30 kms from Pakistan’s border) along a procurement program involving illegal and often controversial channels. A move that forced its rival Pakistan to follow suit several years later and made the region one of the most dangerous places in the world. For a culture which supposedly prides itself on its peaceful-ness, India has been quite contradictory.

Its people have often been easily manipulated and drummed up into a frenzy over religious, cultural and ethnic differences. For it was an Indian hindu that assassinated the late Mohatma Gandhi. It forcefully occupied several princely states(Kashmir, Haiderabad) and colonies (eg. Portuguese colony of Goa, Sikkhim) and at several instances broken international law to fulfill its malicious intention(falsifying Kashmir’s ascension to India) and crimes against humanity(eg. laying bricks/blocking the major water channels leading into Pakistan in 1948)

During the 1980’s, it sent its troops into the Sikh’s holiest shrine and caused unimaginable destruction both in property and loss of life, something the Sikhs will never forgive and plan on revenging. The fact that the Sikhs are a large Diaspora around the world, flooding out of India at every given opportunity is testament to this. While they organize themselves abroad and seek creation of their own independent state often requesting the assistance of Pakistan, rather unsuccessfully, to meet this aim.

Its involvement in the internal affairs of Afghanistan and support to warlords till just a few years ago remained unchecked. India’s treatment of its Muslim and Christian minorities is also abysmal, with force-full conversions back to hinduism, social/class/job restrictions quite similar to the apartheid formerly practiced in South Africa and the abuse and rapes perpetuated on Christians and other minorities are occurring in disturbing numbers. Include to this, the multitude of Separatist movements within the country (eg. Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Goa etc..) and add to this deadly tail of a large, undisclosed and poorly managed nuclear weapons program along with a large arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and you have a very deadly mix.

On greater analysis, it is India which is the country to watch for, for its a volatile area waiting to explode. If history is any marker, it shows that we should see some major upheaval in this country in the near future. India’s current hegemonic and arrogant nature even right now is not a good indicator of how a nation should behave. Its treatment of its own citizens in particular its minorities and even hindu lower classes are abhorrent and archaic in the 21st century.

An upheaval which is going to be disastrous and dangerous if not checked and restrained now is bound to occur in the uncontrollable balloon called India, which is near bursting. The world needs to focus on the true ‘Source’ of instability and terror in the region in the form of India with its large stock of weapons of mass destruction, racial discrimination/caste system, hegemonic nature and interference in surround nations. We could be dealing with a big problem on our hands!!

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

One more senseless thread.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Its really a funny article. These guys are so obsessed with India.
Whole world knows which country is the hub for terrorisum and these people dont want to believe that. They are also aware that they cant get kashmir from india.:D

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Whatever you say, but nobody can deny this fact that India has successfully marched from utter poverty brought by British occupation into one of the fastest growing econonmy in the world. Indian middle class constituting 30% of the population enjoy a quality of life which is nowhere inferior to average westerners. India has also proven to be a successful democracy and has retained its secular character and has kept Hindu fundamentalism at bay. I won't be surprised if India regains its past glory and its rightful place in the world political arena in the next five decades.

Just compare which democracy has President and Prime Minister and the richest person from minority community. The president of India is a muslim, the richest Indian is a muslim and the most powerful Indian (prime minister) is a sikh. Can American or western democracy boast such kind of things? America is yet to see a woman president.

A swiss tourist while traveling with me, was wondering how a country of one billion people was living intact with such a low percentage of violence. If you calculate the violence on percentage basis then Pakistan and most other countries in the world will prove to be much more violent.

Finally INDIA should be seen as a role model to dream and make the whole world a single democratic country.

When a nation of one billion people can be successful then six billion people too can live as a single nation.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Are these your own views or the typical cut paste ? :D In either case, they are pretty ridiculous.

Despite all its problems, India has gained economically & diplomatically since 1947 and is poised to be among the tpo 3 economies in the world. This success is the reason that is causing its less successful neighbors to be envious and try & pull it down.

I dont think its possible to compare any other country in the world with India, since it is the most diverse country in the world. With diversity there comes a difference of opinion. However, it is to India's credit that it has stayed united despite numerous foreign attempts at destabilization.

I agree with you that "India is the country to watch for" in the next few decades :)

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

HE HE

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

The Indian economy is based on outsourcing which will fade in time as other countries become cheaper and more efficient to handle IT stuff (like Pakistan). China will always remain ahead.

Now its my turn to say : Pakistan ?? HE HE HE…

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Indian and economy..LOL… great economy build great slums and starvations. yeah yeah we know we know all those starvations and greatest slums were build during great great progress.

P.S: Chinese exports are around $700B so please keep Chinese out. Per capita Indian exports are even less then Pak forget China.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

You just proved my point about jealous neighbors

As a wise man once said *“Jaani, jinke apne ghar sheeshe ke hote hai, woh doosron par pathar nahi phenkte” :nono1: *

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

^ yes they are so jealous that they spend all their day trying to run them down on their sites.

You should do what you preach:
There is always an alternate point of view. Learn to appreciate it.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Absolutely. Take a look at the percentage of anti-India posts on GS :D

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

Aap kuch aur kaam nahi hi kya :D

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

not quite…they have been dramatically decreasing during indian economic progress, which has indeed been “great great”.

lol @ this pathetic attempt to weasel pakistan into a comparison with india by talking about “per capita exports”. is this a joke?

according to this paramount gauge of economic progress, slovenia and oman are economic powerhouses while the US, which has a measly $13 trillion economy, is a third-world country.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

While I agree that Indiaa still has a lot of ills, I feel ( and know) that India is slowly but surely removing these ills.

This is evident by the confidence levels within the citizens of India, compare this with the feeling of despair with the average citizen of Pakistan.

Re: The Great Democratic Nation called India

LoL, its amazing that people that have nothing to do with each others country can come out here regularly, and insult/comment (samething, well on GS at least). Well, you insult ones country, be prepared to get your own country insulted, if you don't want your country insulted, don't post anything that will provoke others...this same goes for other things such as religion.

I mean when sum1 insults Pakistan and muslims, naturally I will defend and retaliate, same with other people, I don't know why people stoop to such levels, it's not like it's going to affect any1, why not do something productive, all your stirring up is hatred.

This goes for my Pakistani brothers and Indian brothers, I mean with your friends from Pakistan or India, do you say the same things that you post on here? Why is this any different? I mean do Indians go up to Pakistani or Muslim friends and say that your terrorists and your religion is barbaric? Do Pakistanis go up to their Indians Hindus or Muslim Indians friends and insult their religion by calling them piss-drinkers, or insulting them? I didn't think so...this kind of mentality is what ruins society and which prevents peace and social harmony from being established, your part of the problem, not the solution, so stop thinking that way!
